Hey! I loved this video. For the longest time I have had a strong interest in visiting Mongolia, as I have ancestry from there, but none of my family seems willing to come with me. I am a 17 year old girl, from the United States. What are your suggestions? I am not sure I’d want to travel all the way there alone, but in the scenario that I did, what tips would you have for me? Of course I’d turn 18 before this trip, but just to know beforehand. I speak Russian, my family is from Russia and Ukraine, and I have been to Siberia where my family lives, so I understand the lifestyles siberians/mongolians live to an extent. Just for background info, I think speaking Russian would help get me around Mongolia more efficiently
Hey - I think speaking Russian would 100% help. I would say 99.9% of people don't speak english there. I see this is a good thing as you really feel like you are in the unknown and a new country. That being said its very difficult and very expensive to do Mongolia properly in my opinion. I think you are best to book an a 2 week trip taking in all the major sites. We just stayed in the capital and did trips from there. The traffic getting in and out of the centre is horrible - the worst in any country I have been to. I did't feel unsafe anywhere if that was a concern, but I guess we were always 2 people walking around so it might be different as a solo girl. But then again its probably worse in the US and UK... I would try and do as many things as possible outside the city centre and just take in the environment. Seeing wild horses is pretty flair! Hopefully that helps :) Thanks, Gaz
