Reacting to RUSH HOUR (1998) | Movie Reaction - Развлечения
The fact that Jackie Chan didn’t die by the end of the 90s is a miracle. The stunts he did, get injured doing, and then get back up and keep going… He’s superhuman.
"He's like a monkey!"
Shhh! Nobody tell her about Kung Fu Panda.
Sammo hung is the real kung fu panda! The man is 300 pounds and used to move like a monkey.... quote from jackie chan.
@@MitchClement-il6iq you're talking about panda and yeah that is Sammo Hung but Jackie Chan is the monkey in kung fu panda
@@EDWARD-zd7lb I knew that lol, jus didn't explain my bad lol
drunken monkey, best Jackie Chan kung fu style
My favorite story is that during FBI sequence, the American actors that have no background in fighting didn't want to op out for stunt doubles because they wanted to share the screen with Jackie Chan. Because of this Jackie spent time with all the actors to make sure they did everything safely he may hurt himself, but he trys to protect every other person on set.
Because of this Jackie spent time with all the actors to make sure they did everything safely.
He may hurt himself, but he tries to protect every other person on set.
The bloopers are one of the greatest parts of a Jackie Chan movie and one of the reasons he's one of my favourite actors. In the final version of his films you see when it all goes to plan, the flawless moves that are almost superhuman, but, he's also not afraid to show when it doesn't go to plan. The amount of broken bones, concussions, accidents he has but still powers through to finish make him one of the true greats.
ABSOLUTELY, and he's had many an injury over the years and many very gruesome ones, but he still moves forward, true artist!!!!!!!
Jump from a high-rise into spinning helicopter rotors? Sure! Piece of cake.
Yeah man. Thats what i love about Jackie movies as well. Lole Rumble im the Bronx and Jackie Chans First Strike. He really took a beating in those movies.
Yea man. Like Rumble In The Bronx and Jackie Chans First Strike. He really took a beating in those.
Rest in peace...
Elizabeth Peña (Johnson)
Philip Baker Hall (Captain Diel)
Tom Wilkinson (Griffin/Juntao)
🙏🕊
chris penn
Tom Wilkinson was great in "Martin Chuzzlewit"!
The chemistry between Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan is absolute perfection. I revisit these movies a lot because they still manage to make me howl with laughter every time, plus the action just adds the cherry on top. I also feel the need to add that seeing how much Dawn is enjoying the film is fckn class! 👍
😂 funny actors
Even 3, which is kinda underwhelming compared to the others, is still a fun watch
Supposedly they hated each other at first too makes it even better
@@youteo3596 true
That's Jackie Chans usual film credits thing... outtakes. His earlier martial arts films show him also getting injured. Jackie Chan is also blacklisted by insurance companys because of him doing his own stunts. And because he does his own stunts, he's broken almost every bone in his body. And... he took inspiration for his comedy from Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, Gene Kelly, and Harold Lloyd.
Jackie got the idea of outtakes from his first American film "Cannonball Run".
Jackie studied his acrobatics and tumbling at The China Drama Academy. and yes he does all his own stunts, he's absolutely amazing to watch
He grew up in a Chinese circus. Also, he's been seriously injured many times when his stunts went wrong. I've been watching him since the early '90s, long before his first US movie. My Korean friends introduced me to his Chinese movies. Even without understanding a word of the dialogue, just watching him was enough entertainment to keep me rivetted.
He used to be a porn star as well. Multi talented.
About the time this movie came out, Jackie Chan had a reputation as an action hero who did all his own stunts. About the same time, he was also in a movie called _Shanghai Noon,_ in which he costarred with an actor named Owen Wilson.
Now I once owned that movie on DVD, and I once watched it with the commentary track on, and that track didn't just have the director (Tom Dey), but also Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson, and Wilson shared with us this aspiration he had to be known as the actor who does _none_ of his own stunts.
10:31 Korean-American comedian Henry Cho mentioned a time he introduced his father to a woman, and when the woman started talking really slowly and really loudly to his father, his father turned to Henry and asked (in English) "What is she doing?" and Henry replied "She thinks she's speaking Korean."
Henry is a trip. Love his comedy.
@@dogsoldiertoo1099 im korean and grew up in Knoxville Tenn. so ive gotten the speaking loud and slow most my life. i always get a kick out of people reaction when i say (in my perfect hillbilly sounding speach) hey my eyes are slanted not my ears.
Asians from the South represent:)
I loved Elizabeth Peña in this. Sadly she succumbed to alcoholism and died of cirrhosis of the liver in 2013 at the age of 55. She also voiced Mirage in _The Incredibles_ (2004.)
I knew her from JACOB'S LADDER (1990) with Tim Robbins.
My boyfriend died like that. It is so sad
That is such tragic news.
I did not know that she had passed. Always such a good performance from her, a true talent and always loved to see her name included in the cast of a film. Alcohol is a terrible horrendous drug that takes our loved ones and talented individuals as in this wonderful actress.
Died October 14, 2014
First saw her in La Bamba and Batteries Not Included
This chick's sense of humor is freaking perfect! By far the best reaction to this I've seen on YT. Fr. She didn't miss a beat. Or rather, a laugh. Not one moment of being over sensitive about any of the lines. Good for her. And because that, she enjoyed it to the max. Bravo.
So f*cking true. She's what Americans used to be before the pandemic. Idk what happened. I love chicks who enjoy laughing at anything.
@@sandlotkrew8778 everybody lost their sense of humor. I leave out of so many vids coz they get offended at every little thing omg. It's comedy. Lighten up. ☺
22:56 “I can tell by his hand it’s him, I’m such a Goddamn genius”🤣🤣
The villain was just being cheeky when he winked at Jackie Chan, as if to say, "I bet you're mad I'm still alive."
It’s more that he’s just tweaking real hard
All the signs of him being a drugee and going through withdrawal symptoms are clear during that part
Sweating heavily, shaking, and twitching, especially facial twitches, which is what the ‘wink’ was
The FBI guy you recognized from Shawshank was also a Space Marine in "Aliens".
she recognized him in their too.
One thing Jackie Chan has said in interviews is that whenever he's doing a fight scene where someone would logically have a gun, he makes sure it's clear that the gun will beat any kung fu style if it's used.
Jackie and Chris became real good friends, their chemistry is perfect.
Also check out Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson in the comedy western "Shanghai Noon".
Or maybe "Shanghai Knights", which I prefer slightly more. (It is a sequel, but doesn't require seeing the first movie.)
@@mmattson8947it's sad that there is almost no reaction to these movies on RUclips.
One of the funniest buddy cop action comedy movies ever made!
almost All Jackie's movies have bloopers at the end
Yes the actor with the bomb was in Pale Rider. His name is Chris Penn (Sean Penn‘s brother). He died in Jan 2006 of heart disease. He was only 40 years old. He also played the sheriff in the movie ‚To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar“. Cheers
I loved him in Reservoir Dogs, too.
“If you beat this cop long enough, he’ll tell you he started the fuckin’ Chicago Fire and that don’t necessarily make it fuckin’ so…”
Hahaha
Dawn, you have quickly become one of my favorite reacters.
She's been one of mine for awhile :)
Jackie Chan fact he does his own stunts
I do not think he does his own stunts anymore. But for most of his movies he has done his own stunts.
@@malelonewolf80 most likely not his recent ones
Jackie Chan the Drunken Master if you ever you want to see a quality movie
Most Jackie Chan movies are as least comedic, if not outright comedies. He's a big fan of Buster Keaton.
He was tapped as the next Bruce Lee but decided he needed a different tone.
For more Jackie Chan may I suggest Supercop? Also stars a baby Michelle Yeoh doing all her own stunts.
I second this... Supercop is my fave JC film...
Supercop (1992) AKA Police Story 3, since there is another film called Supercop* (1993), which only has him in a small cameo.
Also watch Police Story 1 (1985) + 2 (1998) first if you're going to watch the 3rd.
*Also called Supercop II/Mega Cop/Project S/Once Upon a Cop
These two are hilarious together. All three movies are great.
It's the movie poster tagline that still kills me to this day "The fastest hands meets the fastest mouth" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hitting a body of water like that from that height is like hitting a brick wall. Killed instantly. It would not save him. Also, R.I.P., Tom Wilkinson, in real life.
I love that you are reviewing this film. Jackie Chan movies are practically their own genre.
One of my favourite scenes is the girl singing Mariah Carey in the car, while the bodyguards just have to put up with it.
(Also watching the film was the first time I ever heard that song.)
BTW, yes, that is Chris Penn, who was in Reservoir Dogs and Pale Rider. And the snitch guy at the Chinese theatre I'm pretty sure played Saul on Deadwood.
Yes, Jackie Chan does his own stunts, and has a long list of injuries he's gotten while making films. This was one of the less strenuous ones for him.
Yes, that was Chris Penn from reservoir dogs. He is also in "Best of the best" and "footloose"
The 2nd one is just as good if not better. If you want some good Jackie Chan movies, Who Am I, First Strike, Mr Nice Guy, Rumble in The Bronx are worth seeing. He does all his own stunts & there are bloopers & how he cherograph them. You aren't too fat either Dawn btw.
👍
Jackie's 'fighting round the world' period is one of my faves. He spends the 90s on almost permanent vacation filming and recuperating in exotic locations like Australia and Africa.
Super Cop and Operation Condor are also great.
"My whole life I spent on the sofa", "I am special. My mom tells me I'm special" and "We all started off as naked babies". You are hilarious! Jackie trained at the China Drama Academy. A Peking Opera School for a decade. He trained in martial arts and acrobatics. And hapkido, kung fu, karate, judo, taekwondo and jeet kun do.
"How does one learn to do this?"
Jackie and most Hong Kong stunt men attended what are known as Opera Schools, where children learn martial arts, acrobatics, singing, and dancing.
Two of his friends from his school, Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, are in a lot of movies with Jackie, commonly known as his 'three dragons' era.
Try Wheels On Meals and Dragons Forever.
Jackie, who's name is actually Chan Kong San, which means "born in Hong Kong Chan", started training when he was 7. He was enrolled in the Peking Opera School for 10 years. He learned kung fu, several styles, singing, dancing, acting, acrobatics and stage directions. He couldn't read or write until his late teens. He's been acting for over 50 years. He has always done his own stunts, and has been injured several times and almost died doing a stunt for a movie called Armour of God. There are a couple more Rush Hour movies. All fun. If you can find them, Jackie's older movies are amazing. On to the next one!!
The c4 guy towards the fronr of the movie is in reservoir dogs. His name is Chris Penn, brother of Sean Penn. Sadly, he had a substance issues and passed from am OD a while back
Also, the FBI agent was the creep from Shankshank. He was also in Aliens and A Few Good Men
"She injured him. Good girl!" 😂👏👏
In reality she wouldn't have been able to hurt a fly.
Most women aren't, much less girls.
Jackie Chan has been a master of his craft for decades. You'll love more of his movies, like Legend of Drunken Master and Operation Condor
The Rush Hour movies are legendary. All 3 are good
You're right Jackie Chan does do his own stunts.
I got stuck outside the house once and had to scale to the top balcony. My mind went to when Lee scaled the walls of the ambassadors mansion. I gotta say.....😘👌worked like a charm.
Jackie Chan was trained in the Chinese Opera, which teaches a wide spectrum of skills. Many Chinese superstars came from Chinese Opera.
For real, this is one of, if not THE best of the "buddy cop" movies. It's friggin magical and hilarious!
He’s been in comedy since childhood. (1962) He became more comedic in the 80’s with movies like city hunter, meals on wheels, lucky stars, operation condo, project A . So on if you want to watch the classic Chan era watch all those movies. He was/is a stuntman and stunt director and appeared in Bruce Lee movies. He famously has hooked up with Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao, and the three of them later became known as the Three Brothers or Three Dragons. He has also done serious roles like police story. He got world wide recognition in the cannonball movies and tried and failed to break the US market with The Big Brawl but in he finally broke the US in the 90’s with Rumble in the Bronx. It was 98 Rush hour that shot him on his way towards his Hollywood star and he’s been helping out a Kung fu panda ever since. That’s the briefest run down I can give you of somebody I own every movie, tv series and cartoons of . I even have his PlayStation game. After this I seriously recommend you watch the karate kid remake. It shows a more serious side to Jackie. Hope that helps
We definitely need reactions to Rush Hour 2 & 3!!
Jackie Chan is a legend no one else like him also one of the most famous people on the planet yet he comes across so humble and down to earth what a gent
Jackie Chan's first US roles were in Burt Reynolds' Cannonball Run 1 & 2. He enjoyed the bloopers at the end so much he decided to include them in his own movies.
The snake, the mantis, tiger are all forms of kung-fu.
Chan also teamed up for two movies with Owen Wilson, set in the 1870s US west. Shanghai Nights & Shanghai Noon.
@17:51
I think Dawn should watch some sammo Hung movies. He's an old friend of Jackie, and he's just as acrobatic.
Meals on Wheels would be a good film, they're both in it
aww sheeit, 5 mins in I couldn't continue watching. I now have to revisit the movie, and come back to this. It's too good, I hope it's still as good as I remember it.
Love all the laughter. 2 and 3 are pretty hilarious
Chris Tucker at this point was the funniest guy in Hollywood. He was literally the next Eddie Murphy. The rest of the RH movies are good as well but i think this one was the best in the series.
You're my favorite reaction channel. Love your honesty and the fact that you don't get offended over movies, it's refreshing.
the bloopers are amazing
being an extra in a fight scene with Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon is what inspired Jackie Chan to do his own movie stunts when he began to make his own movies.
"I'm special. Well, my mum tells me I'm special" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You can see how Jackie and the hong kong stunt teams have inspired the subculture of parkour/free running. Jackie started his career as a stuntman and altho he does a lot of fight scenes, stunts are his specialty. And little known fact is that he has several music albums
I was a combat engineer straight out of highschool in the USMC...to get into things that go kaboom, you have to be slightly nutty and/or too dumb to be scared 😂
Funniest thing is Jackie Chan doesn't need to be a Superhero. He is a Superhero. He can just play himself.😂 He was the City Hunter.
Comedy reactions are the best ... your laughter is great!
Rumble in the Bronx
YESSSSSS. It was filmed in my home city (which is definitely not The Bronx).
Noo, there are so many better jackie movies than rumble in the bronx; rumble in the bronx and first strike are his worst movies and are just bad movies in general.
Meals on wheels, dragons forever, operation condor, supercop, who am i and drunken master are the jackie movies you have to watch.
If you want Hollywood jackie his later movies are all much better than rumble and first strike
I love this duo. All 3 Rush Hour movies are awesomely funny.
And I must say, your laugh is infectious. It's genuine, and it's one of the things that drew me to subscribe to your channel.
See you in the next one!
Jackie Chan is the king of action comedy. He did some great dramatic movies later in his career, but his early work is some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen. I recommend Drunken Master, Mr. Nice Guy, Wheels on Meals, Legend of Drunken Master, and Rumble In The Bronx.
Also, there is a cartoon from the 90s called Jackie Chan Adventures that still holds up really well.
It should be a illegal for comedy movies to be released and not feature bloopers in the credits. It used to be the golden standard but disappeared.
05:21 MJ dance is legendary. Chris and MJ would laugh about Chris used his left leg to kick
Gargantuan "Don't nobody understand the words coming out your mouth!" That might be 2 😂
5:17 Fun Fact: C-4 cannot be detonated by a gunshot or by dropping it onto a hard surface. It does not explode when set on fire or exposed to microwaves. Detonation can ONLY be initiated only by a shockwave...such as when a detonator inserted into it is fired.
I just figured he set off the detonators and they set off the C4, since they were both in the car trunks, but in the end, who really cares?
I thought it was an electrical connection. You always see them sticking 2 wires into it.
@@3DJapan The wires explode the detonator or blasting cap. The force of that smaller explosion causes the C4 to explode.
Artistic license is taken, more often than not, in movies. Filmmakers are of the assumption that the audience isn't as savvy as they are.
You're forgetting one thing, C-4 can also be generated by expected gross sales. There's a direct link between big explosions & sales. With large expected gross sales over-riding the need for detonators & the laws of physics.
Dawn, the word of the day is: GINORMOUS
So generous of you coming into my house and watching the movie with you 💕 there's a lady who is a political commentator Lee Carter 😊
So glad you loved this very rewatchable masterpiece.
Amazing reaction. Love it. Hope to see part 2 and 3.
16:19 Carl Lewis won 9 gold medals at the 1988 Olympics in Seoul. He was a sprinter and long jumper
thank you, HOw does anyone not know this. I know she blonde but jeez
Stop. Most people have forgotten Lewis unfortunately. Actually most never heard of him.
The crazy thing Jackie Chan was 60 years old and did all his stunts when this movie was made in 2014.
22:55 You are such a genius, every time you miss HAHAHA
11:30 Carter's informant is played by John Hawkes (Sol Star from Deadwood)
Thank you Dawn! There's some sequels too. There's many Jackie Chan solo movies to see too. He started studying as a child at the Peking Opera. Thank you so much!
Definitely watch the Rush Hour sequels. Also, Check out the movies Money Talks(1997), National Security(2003), Bad Boys(1995), Big Momma’s House(2000), Friday(1995), Life(1999), and Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery(1997).
Darlin' it was just as entertaining as the film to see you having such a good time watching it! I think your laughter brought a smile and more than a few giggles out of me even more than the film!
This is the most I’ve heard Dawn laugh in a video 🤣🤣🤣. This movie is so great and I like the 2nd one even more.
15:05 That's a Joe Rogan laugh if I've ever heard one lol
Now I can't wait for you to get to the BLOOPERS from Rush Hour 2 LOL!! I could tell you couldn't cope with all those bloopers at once! Bloopers at the end of American 80s movies like Cannon Ball Run is why he included them in his movies. You should definitely check out somo of Jackie Chans older movies from the 80s, like Project A 1 and 2, and Police Story especially.
I think you're the only reactor on RUclips who cracks up laughing at the non-politically-correct jokes. Everyone else feigns offense. It's refreshing!
38:04 comment, as a child they are under a 7 year contract at the Chinese Opera School .-Ernie Moore Jr.
Fantastic job and another top flight reaction. Jackie Chan was a well known and popular action star in the Hong Kong cinema movement. He was box office in China but not known in the US. This and the sequel were big hits with the public and critics.
I can-say this about your review… Best Reaction ever ( while clapping 👏)and about most all of yours. Great job
Here for Dawn's laugh.😂Thank you for the 🎁😂👏🏾please🙏 continue the journey with the sequels.👏🏾
Agreed, might be the funniest movie ever. And 2 is somehow just as good.
Though Chan started cout w/ Bruce Lee w/ his films, he made his mark in the genre w/ more comedic martial arts films of his own brand.
He 1st appeared in American films w/ an all-star cast in the first Cannonball Run (1981) movie (smaller role) (also featuring Burt Reynolds, Dom DeLuise, Roger Moore, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, & Frank Sinatra (among others). Fun movie. Chan started doing end-credit bloopers/outtakes after this movie.
Jackie's whole thing is kung fu comedy. He's been doing it since the 70s.
Hi Dawn Marie, looking lovely in blue!😊💙 "Rush Hour 2" (2001) is actually most peoples favorite Rush Hour film.🏆🏆 So, you have even more fun ahead. Yep, Jackie Chan does all his own stunts. There are bloopers at the end of the two sequels, too.😉 Great funny reactions to your very first Rush Hour film, Dawn!!!😆🎬👏👏👏👏 Jackie Chan actually has a part in the action/comedy film "The Cannonball Run" (1981) from 43 years ago!🤯 Nicolas Cage is a bomb expert in the action film "The RocK" (1996) with your fellow Scotsman Sir Sean Connery also starring.😉
I grew up with these type of movies like the Bad Boys movies and Hush Hour movies and I was having a bad day today but thanks to Dawn and reaction to this movie my day is good now and I love your laugh Dawn is always good to see you laughing during movies.
Carters role in this (Chris Tucker) is a kinda throw back to the Beverly Hills cop movies with Eddie Murphy
I remember the first time I saw a Jackie Chan film was in the mid 90's when Channel 4 were doing a Jackie Chan Season (A different JC film every week?) I remember after watching the first one, taping the rest on VHS. Police Story 1, Project A, Armour of God, Wheels on Meals, Supercop
The combination of you and this movie, has me excited for the sequels. More please.
Thank you for watching this one cause. I haven't seen this one in about at least 5 or 7 years
OMG girl! You make me smile when you laugh! I love this movie and you'll love the second and third movie too.
Jackie Chan does do all of his own stunts. I saw an interview with him that said that because of that he can’t even find an insurance company to sell insurance because he’s such a high risk that nobody wants to insure him
Thank you for doing these. You're a joy.
The guy you recognized from Shawshank is also Drake in "Aliens."
1:57 gargantuan
Jackie Chan was adopted into a Peking Opera school (Chinese performance arts) when he was 5. There he learned gymnastics, martial arts, singing, etc until he was 18.
His best movie is Drunken Master 2. Most of his best movies are Chinese, (relatively) low budget, and mostly focus on martial arts. Rush Hour 2 is a good follow up to this movie, but the third is pretty bad.
I've seen most of his movies, and I think his best are: Drunken Master II (1994), Police Story III: Supercop (1992), Armour of God 2: Operation Condor (1991), Police Story (1985), Wheels on Meals (1984), Project A (1983), & Drunken Master (1978). Be aware that his Chinese movies were not shot with sound, and so the original soundtracks are technically Mandarin or Cantonese dubs. Many of these movies were re-released in America with English dubs, but they were also edited and replaced the music with new scores and sound effects. Generally the original soundtrack is preferred.
Another fun Jackie Chan “buddy cop” like movie is Shanghai Noon.
