Mr. MDLR, many groceries and HEB too will sell the hatch chile in frozen cartons year round. Although agreed fresh roasted is better and the smell is amazing each year they do it. It’s spread far and wide in recent years but i first learned about it in Lubbock at TTU and some of my friends were from NM and they were all ohhhhh this hatch chile stuff is a tradition. haha and then after that whoever runs the hatch chile cartel spread it out to HEB and the rest of Texas and I love it!

Took a small hard head of my hook one time in the surf onetime, my grandpa taught me how to hold them properly while taking the hook out, but I was complacent and his barb went straight thru my middle finger knuckle
i never realized the third bar was so close to shore. I mean… i don’t really know how to tell where the bars are by looking at the breaks in the waves anyway… i just know it is somehow possible😅. But anyway, my dad is older now and he’s all like, oh yah yah in the 1980s I’d always swim out to the third bar or wade out to it if the tide was low but now i’m too old. such is life I suppose. Anyway so the third bar can be that close?
Love all your videos and just finished making my own live bait box that mimics yours (I had a several decade old but identical cooler I wasn't using). Very impressed with you putting the fish out of misery so quickly which is something I will start doing. Just curious if there was a reason you cleaned the fish right away?
It significantly reduces the decomposition process. The result is a sushi grade fish that will taste better and last longer before cooking. Lots of bacteria in the innards.
Oh man I understand when a recipe has too much of this or that. I did that today with too much garlic in my garlic herb oil bread dip copy of Carabba's dip.
My leader line under the cork was so short and the shrimp kept jumping out of the water. I didn’t want a seagull to come down and get it. Eventually I stopped cutting them.
oopsie catch and cook fail.🤷🏼 good to experiment nonetheless. on the upside i am just the sort of person to go for red garlic pungency, although I never even heard of red garlic until right now in 2024 and i’m 38 for cryin’ out loud😅 ima go get some now.
Not at all, considering everything that our grocery store foods have in them. We ingest so many things that aren’t good for us. At least this is wild caught and fresh. This is just my 2 cents so take with a grain of salt. It’s a great question though 🙌
Most items are in my video description. Rod is an Old 18 Outfitters Nightfall 9’ Medium power. Reel is Shimano Stella 4000SW. Line is Varivas 37 lb braid. Bomber Cork I don’t recommend.

80% of all fish I have ever caught on the Seawall are Hardheads. Ugh! I hate them! Great video! That cooking at the end was spot on.
Thank you
Love the choice of music. Spec-tacular day!
Thank you
thank you for the honesty, brother.
Always!
Clear water today. Thanks for sharing 🤘🏾
No problem 👍

Glad you like it! Thank you 🙏
Absolutely love this channel
Thank you 🤙
another great video. food looks great! see ya out there brotha! KEEP'M TIGHT!
Thanks! Will do!
I instantly knew that was chipotle peppers with adobe sauce. I use that on my chicken and I never even thought about using it on fish
It’s the good stuff 👍
Thanks
Enjoyed the tag along
Thanks so much 👍
Yummy what a catch and cook !
Thank you 🤙
That trout dish looks so good!!😋

Great video 😊
Thanks for watching 🤙

Thanks brother! I really messed up with the garlic but next time it’ll be better.
Live and learn!!
Definitely 👍
Hard head in the foot was 1 of the most painful mistakes of tring to kick it off the pier I ever made at the beach in texas
I’ve done the same and learned the hard way. 😂
This past weekend we were at the big jetties Bayside of poc at dark white lure catching the crap out of 40 inch reds sunset and after
Sounds like an awesome day 🙌
Love it

I’ve never understood the surf as well. It seems like there are a million sandbars because of how far out our surf goes.
Buen video amigo y buen provecho saludos
Thank you Marvin 👍

😂 we’re prepping for vampires.
Coming to Galveston for a trip and staying on the canal side of Jamaica beach what baits and rig should I use.
Popping cork with live shrimp. 2500 series spinning reel with a ML rod should cover everything.
@@MDLRFishing thanks
How do I keep live shrimp
Dang, you’ll need an aerator.
This is what I built.

What time of day is best for fishing I’m here now in Galveston and I’m not from here but I would love to get on some fish
Early morning bite.
Very good content👍🏽 why the cutting of the tail on the shrimp??
My leader line under the cork was so short and the shrimp kept jumping out of the water. I didn’t want a seagull to come down and get it. Eventually I stopped cutting them.

Looks like you cut the tail off the shrimp. Also how long is the leader below the cork?
Approximately 18-20” long.
Any thoughts on the TX state advisory against eating spotted trout from the Galveston area due to PCB contamination?
Nooo ....

It’s a great question though 🙌
Plus all the fecal matter in that nasty Galveston water.
@@topout26 I’m really jealous that FL gets the clean side of the Gulf..
Y'all are worried about eating fish from Galveston and then go buy tilapia from Walmart. It's actually hilarious.

Mind me asking the whole setup for the popping cork? Brands, where you bought the items, hook size, rod and reel, etc?

I have question how u can parking there at the street in Galveston I have to pay it just park or what is question I never visit the place
You have to use the Pay By Phone app during daytime hours. After hours are free.
Mark, east end (crystal beach) or west end??
Thanks for the tip.
@@MDLRFishing what tip? That was a question. What side of Galveston were you fishing the surf.
@@BIGROB123looked like one of the beach accesses going towards Jamaica beach past the sea wall n all that.
@mateoalaniz4335 thanks bro. It's that easy
Bro,I put cyan pepper instead of cinnamon on my pudding, lol
😂😂😂🙌 awesome 🤣
Nice shrimp. Smitty's?
Yes 👍
Have you tried fly fishing for reds in the marsh
Yes but it’s very slow paced because I have to sightcast them. With our waters so murky it’s a difficult task.
Chicken nuggets lol
I wonder if using them as bait would catch anything 🤔
😂😂😂🙌
I’d of kept those live shrimp and cooked them with the spec.
It crossed my when I was out there 😂👍
Bro i just moved to the island ive been casting out by a&m.. lets link
first?
Genuinely curious, why are you cutting the tails off? I've fished these waters for 40 years and have NEVER seen this.
