I think the factor to what made axie blow up is its accessibility. It runs smoothly on any phone/laptop without cpu/gpu demand so it caters to a wider spectrum of audiences. Sure, Illuvium will be a nice looking game but the graphical demand could be a hindrance to a percentage of the population in the nft gaming community. I'm still gonna keep an eye on this game tho and try to get in asap 👀
this is a good point. if the game doesn't run smoothly on low-mid tier mobile devices it probably won't be able to genuinely compete with the huge number of players other pay to earn games like axie will attract.

I HAVE AN IDEA! PLEASE SHARE THIS WITH JIHO THE NEXT TIME YOU MEET! I KNOW HOW WE CAN BURN AXIES IN AXIE INFINITY! It's an option I thought of (along with Breed, Sell and Gift) called "Convert/Transplant". What is "Convert/Transplant": It is an option that allows you to choose 2 Axies. One to convert into a Move Card/Body Part item (one of the 4) of your choice to another Axie. The latter Axie who receives the "transplant", in turn, will gain the move/body part of the converted Axie and replace the "transplanted Axie's" old move card. Basically, the first Axie NFT will be burned and the second Axie learns one of the former's old moves. To avoid overuse of this option, there must be a limit on how many times an Axie can receive transplants. Like Breed count (limit of 7 times), "Transplant counts" is limited to 3 times with each Axies. Transplant costs more SLP/AXS, the higher the count. The "converted" Axie also requires SLP/AXS to burn, which works based on it's breed count: The higher the breed count, the cheaper it is to burn. The fitting opposite of Breeding. "Convert/Transplant" solves 3 things: How we should burn Axies. More use cases for SLPs and AXS. Giving utility to otherwise "useless" Axies with a bad movepool, which is still inferior to buying Axies in the market place since you'll still lose 1 Axie in your possession (no energy increase).
Sounds great, but I think the unit bias is a real concern. We have seen the effect it has had this cycle, and you can see it playing out in the comment section on this page. You can talk about low supply all you want, some people will just never be able to wrap their heads around it.

The thing is, will this work on low to mid level phones? Axie is so successful, userwise, because in 3rd world country like ours 🇵🇭, those are the majority of phone brand/models, and axie works great with them, easily.
I love the look of this game and if they can deliver on the promises they are making it'll be fantastic, but I cant make myself go bullish with this until I see some actual gameplay footage and not cinematic footage and graphical stills, Ive invested a small amount as I really hope it turns out as great as they make it seem like itll be.

How is the economy going to work if you can find Illuvials in the game for free? Where are the funds going to come from to earn by playing a battle? Just asking (not trying to be toxic) = - )
There will be a limited number of Illuvials from each set. Each time an Illuvial is captured it becomes rarer and harder for someone else to find. After all of a type of Illuvial are found it becomes extinct in the wild, impossible to capture. This is why the team will need to continue releasing fresh sets of brand new types of Illuvials each season. The Illuvium team is already building the designs for set two and the game isn't scheduled to release for a few more months.
