  • There are so many ideas that we prototype but never release to you in Arc. Join Patrick on our team (creator of the game Dots) for an inside look at some of the ideas he’s exploring - and learn why prototyping is one of the most important things we do in building Arc.
    If you're curious about how we work at The Browser Co., this one is for you.

      Can you guys create a feature similar to arc boost that lets us inject javascript to a site, not just css, every time it loads? This way we can modify all websites as if they are our own. If its missing a feature we want, we can just add it in seconds...

    • @TheBrowserCompany
      @TheBrowserCompany  9 месяцев назад +5

      @@Elliot.2591 you actually can inject javascript via boosts currently! once you click the "code" button in the boost remote, just toggle from css to js at the top. you just won't be able to share any boosts with javascript in them for security reasons

    This was awesome, really appreciate you all sharing this perspective with us!
    So many great ideas here & I love the breadth of exploration in what a browser can do.
    The notes idea, while I has no idea that you all were already thinking up something on it, is quite similar to a feature request I just submitted (I actually asked/mentioned that it might be worth seeing if you all could acquire a now radio silent note app called Ghost 2). I really enjoyed their initial take on contextual yet relevant notes remaining attached to the pages / files they were taken on. I think combining that contextual note pad with the persistent one, perhaps as two tabs within that pop-up modal, could be really helpful.

    I love the existing notes feature, and the prototype in the video (where it lives on the bottom-right). I have two ideas on how to expand on it!
    1) Domain/Site notes - basically I could save or "pin" a notepad to a specific site or domain. Any time I visit that domain in any tab, the little notepad will appears on the bottom-right of the screen.
    2) Arc Community notes - basically a notepad that is visible for any Arc users that visit a specific webpage! It could be a great way to build engagement within the community. Or get overrun by trolls. Either is possible. :P

    I actually hoped that writing a note would be different from easels and that they would stay in the sidebar instead of opening as a popup. This way, I could check the website for copy-paste content or ideas without having to open the note, switch tabs, and so on. Since you already have easels for "Bigger Notes", it would be great if notes simply stayed in the sidebar, allowing direct writing. That would be so useful :)

      Hate to be that naysayer in a video about prototyping, but adding breadth isn't necessarily a good thing because:
      - it adds more complexity
      - dilutes the core product experience/identity
      - spends time on marginal stuff instead of items with wider appeal
      Prototyping a wide variety of ideas is great but the next step of the Essentialist methodology is to "focus on the vital few and discard the trivial many." If you embrace the trivial many then you go nowhere fast.
