Melina really needed much more screen time. Like half of her dialogue was optional/ hidden, and honestly she should've at least appeared whenever you wanted to level, it's how you built rapport early on with the other leveling maidens.

      * I'd have also expanded Boc's questline with him moving to Stormveil(I'd have made the area like Majula where it fills up with friendly NPC's) and is now able to craft certain pieces of gear if you have the right items(like altering one lordsword piece into another or craft pieces from a set using extra pieces).

I think the feeling of fear of perhaps dying at some point in the uncertain future is different from the fear you feel when you face (inevitable) death.
Like a spring. You are afraid that it will run dry at some point, even if you have no indication at the moment that it might run dry any time soon, but then it islowy dries up.
The difference between to be worried about something and to fear/dread.

Damn. I feel like if Asimi was in the game she could've been a whole different class of spell/incantation. Like the mimic tear summon, you could maybe sacrifice a portion of your health to temporarily assume the form of a boss you beat or just copy one of their powerful moves. Like defeating Radahn with her inside you could give you his gravity war cry, or beating a Mariner gives you a spectral geyser, and so on. And as you complete her questline and she gets stronger it could become clear that you're building your ultimate boss fight. When she becomes the Eternal King she could have special moves from every boss you've beaten, making her as difficult a fight as you made her. If you kill her she could drop the Asimi Seal - a solidified version of the tear you could use to get those powers back. Or you could let go of that power and let her live as ruler of Nokron.

It would have been pretty slick if each chalice gave a small but meaningful bost to HP/FP/Stamina, and unlocked a 'mimic' spell that emulates mimic tear abilities, probably one each for a thrust, slash, and strike damage types, and maybe a shield. When you drink the final chalice and she seperates from you, you would lose the HP/FP/Stamina boneses but keep the spells, and she should be available as an NPC summon for a boss fight or two. Then there would be an optional final stage of her quest line, where you either fight her and get a powerful catalyst for boosting your mimic spells when you defeat her, or choose to aid her in becoming the Eternal Sovereign, and get a powerful Nox spell and can summon her into the Radagon/Elden Beast fight

  • @armandaneshjoo
    @armandaneshjoo 7 месяцев назад

11:25 The Nox were not punished for playing god. They were punished for serving the first Gloam-eyed queen.
After the large meteor strike that destroyed Farum Azula, she stopped following the greater will and the first eternal golden order. She instead conjoined destined death with the Nox worship of night and dark to usher a new age. But Marika wanted to bring back the golden order. So in a night of knives, she killed all the queen's kin and usurped the throne. In response, the elden lord attacked Leyndell, but was killed by Godfrey. The queen escaped to the eternal cities and fashioned the godskin apostles. they went on the god-hunt as vengeance, but were not successful. She also attempted to create another elden lord out of larva tears. A lord of night. Asimi (later Radagon) is that lord.
After the war with the giants, and maybe the first Liurnian war, Maliketh found and killed the gloam-eyed queen in Nokron. The greater will turned her corpse into the so called "fingerslayer blade". All evidence of her existence were destroyed and the eternal cities were banished underground for assisting in the god-hunt. The Asimi questline was cut because it was not the tarnished who found and helped Asimi. It was Marika. With her help, Asimi became Radagon, "Eternal king" Radagon.
The night of the black knives was orchestrated to retaleate against this coup, and to bring back the order of destined death. But that's cut content.

Great video, it's nice to hear someone explore this quest-line in terms of its emotional impact rather than some of the dryer commentaries I've seen!
I hadn't really thought about it before but I wonder if Asimi's fear upon death comes as a result of copying the tarnished so much that fear would be an unknown concept, the tarnished is functionally immortal so has in a very real sense nothing to fear. Ironically and tragically Asimi's fear at the point of death might have been the first thought that was purely 'hers' ... Cue sad music...
Something that I also can't shake is the idea of Mercury poisoning and bio magnification being a factor here... It's something that has come up in other souls games (notably Bloodborne) and has real world implications notably in Japan... Asimi seemingly becoming more desperate the more you 'drink'... I dunno... Mercury (or quicksilver) is both a 'pure' element and also one of the foundational alchemic elements it feels like a living avatar (or even outer god) of mercury could be something From soft were considering

Am i the only one who sees a weird connection between the quest and Latenna'a quest? I know theyre different in terms of what you're goal is, but in the end for both quests you:
Find an NPC whos modeled after an enemy you dont fight until later in the game
Gain their trust and bring them into your party as a talking companion
Fight along side you, since Asimi seemed to be the original mimic tear,
Comminicate with each other once reaching a certain end game area
And both end with said companion needing you to take them somewhere they need
I know theyre really minor connections but these two quests have very specific details that happened to line up with each other. Whether its a connection in the lore(I have seen theories that Albinaurics and Mimic tears are both creations of the Nox)or Latenna's quest is the reason Asimi's got canceled, I just feel crazy making the connection

"Sound great, but what if there's someone who does not want to simp for Ranni?

i found it a bit odd that the mimic tear was the only legendary ash without a name, turns out that was the plan at some point,
