Jbl is still winner for deep bass and Phillips has upper bass with loud sound!
Both are quite good but yes the jbl has a deeper more robust bass, the phillips puts up a dang good fight though

Flat equalizer on the play store safe and easy to use. I tried the preset Base mode on there with the philips and it was at least on par with my xg500 which is still pretty damn good

The Encore can be had for $150 including 2 wireless mics at Walmart and Sam's Club during BlackFriday and hopefully a couple other times during the year. I'd say wait for that sale because it kills the Phillips. It just punches so much bigger, fuller, deeper, cleaner, clearer and with that sparkle. The Phillips can be had for $130 at B &H Photo, but I dare say I'd spend even double for the Encore.
I've searched high and low for a small speaker that can wow me with impact. And the only small speaker that does it for me is my Encore. I'm enthralled with it so much that I bought another to pair in TWS. I've had the JBL Boombox 3 and the W-King X20, and with those, I just don't feel any of that heart pounding visceral impact that I get from even 1 Encore. And my 2 Encores together is absolutely pure joy!
P.S. Contrary to my raving, I am definitely not a JBL fanboy..
Ya the encore is an amazing speaker and if you can get it on sale for 150$ it's definitely the way to go, although battery life could be better but it sounds amazing, the phillips is a surprisingly good speaker at a decent price, but if I had to choose between the 2 I would for sure buy an encore over the phillips

I don't have a shop I just love speakers and collecting them and having a channel testing them
I gotta say I like the overall aesthetics of the Philips more than the JBL encore. The Philips looks like something out of a sci fi movie
I agree I love the anesthetics of the Phillis but a huge among, though the encore does still look good, I think the encore does win by a bit in over all sound

The best in its size for sure
JBL is still bass👑. The passive radiator bass is a tighter bass. Both sound good. I use Poweramp EQ and bet you could get some adjustments on bass and treble.
Exactly, both sound really good!!! And I'm going to definitely download a eq app and see what I can get the phillips to sound like

Would the encore fit in a backpack or is it same size as the philips?
It's a tiny bit smaller than the phillips speaker bit much to large to fit in a backpack, the xdobo King max can fit in a backpack and is loud as a encore which is pretty cool

Jbl does have a deeper more robust bass I think due to it having a port, jbl is a nice clean sound

They are basically in the same class at he T11 and I wouldn't say they are better but about the same

Uau que produto incrível da Philips, batendo de frente com uma caixa excelente da JBL. Achei o Sub da encore mais macio, e com uma pressão mais direta. O da Philips se espalha melhor nos ambientes. Ambos apresentam muita qualidade sonora. Ao meu ver estao de pé de igualdade. O que talvez deixe o preço da JBL mais caro seja a contrução mais robusta. Ainda não vi ninguém abrindo essa Philips. Primeiro produto da Philips que me impressiona e não passa a sensação se ser algo genérico e mal construido.

Philips somehow sounds quite balanced and way more honest, but just not as powerful and lacks a bit of the deep bass
Ya you hit the nail on the head, it's actually got decent mids as well, but the jbl encore has a deeper fuller bass and more sparkly highs

I think you have it backward. The Encore has the much deeper bass. Passive radiators don't expel air as efficiently as a port does. But more importantly than the way a speaker expels air is the quality of the speaker itself.
I'm a big fan of passive radiators. Panasonic Thrusters made them popular back in the 70s.
Every speaker is a great speaker until you compare it to JBLs.
