Aloha! Just love watching hula, and lived on Big Island and Oahu for 11 years. Really enjoyed the Merrie Monarch Festival, and had friends that competed. A hui hou!
My husband and I will be visiting the island of Kauai on August 27th and cannot wait. I'm trying to learn a few dances and hoping to reflect more grace while attempting to HULA. It would be nice if you could demonstrate the hand movements a little more to achieve the gracefulness and flow of the hand movements.
Hello, I love all your hula videos especially the worship hula with “You are my Strength “ I have been following along and practicing for the past year. This is the next dance I am going to learn. I really like how you break everything down step by step. I also love all your beautiful dresses and outfits. Thank you for making these videos.
Aloha Kakahiaka from Oregon! Mahalo Nui Loa for sharing your gift of dance. I moved from Hawaii to Oregon in 2016 and miss hula class. I started dancing when I was a young girl 8 years of age. My kumu hula at the time was Auntie Leilani Alama in Kaimuki.
Never been in Hawaiian Islands. I have lived in Tahiti. Visited New Caledonia, Wallis & Futuna Islands. But my unique wish now is Hawaii. I want to visit all. Big Island, Oahu, Maui, Molokai and the garden Island Kauai one of the most beautiful. May be one day !!
Thank you for your posts. I'm learning a lot from them. I am a new resident to Hawaii from mainland USA. For years I've admired the beautiful movements of hula dance and have wanted to learn. Now that I live in Hawaii, I am even more eager to learn. I started taking a local beginning hula class last week. After my first class I went on RUclips to learn the intricacies of the hula hand movements and the footwork. Your basics videos are wonderful. Today after my 3rd hula class, I found this video of yours. I'm enjoying learning the hula to this song. The way you have broken down the steps makes it so easy to learn. Mahalo nui!
Why is Hawaiian everything just so beautiful? The culture, the music, the hula, I love it!!! To answer your question, I visited Kaua’i for two weeks back in 2017 and wish so much I could go back. I loved it there, very much
One thing I would really love to learn is the actual hula dance that goes along to He Mele No Lilo, and Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride. Both songs are so beautiful and I’ve seen many fake hulas with them
Aloha Natalie - I agree...everything Hawaiian is just amazingly beautiful. Oh neat to hear you've visited Kaua‘I. Is this your first time dancing the hula?
These titles are the most requested hula songs I get. I have chorepgraphed a hula for each song, however, I reserve them for my local students to learn here in Honolulu. That's not to say I never will create a tutorial for them, as these mele are so much fun to dance to - maybe you'll see something in the future??? Keep watching.
Aloha Lynn! 🤩 What a inspiration and your beautiful demonstration. Glad I found your channel. Now Im not feared of learning Hula because of you are a most wonderful teacher! Thank you very much 😊❤️
I just discovered your channel as I have a good friend who's a retired Kumu Hula. I had a little lu'au for my sister, who was visiting from out of town, and my Kumu friend drove 4 hours to come. She sent me your RUclips of Puamana to learn so her and I could dance it. I haven't done hula in some years and she is so busy she rarely has the time but we managed to pull it off and everyone LOVED it! I realized how much I've missed it so I'm happily going to learn any hula you post as I really enjoy you. Mahalo for teaching hula this way! :-D
Aloha e Teresa P! Mahalo for sharing this with me - it bring me joy to hear how two friends were able to learn the same hula separately by my videos and came together to give it as a gift to your sister. That is truly a special gift! I'm honored to have your former Kumu Hula dance to my version of "Puamana." Where did she have her halau before? Thank you for wanting to learn anything I post. I'm grateful!
@@iHulaHawaii Her halau was in Phoenix, AZ and she was also very involved in the Arizona Aloha Festival every year (she got involved in all that is Hawaiian when she lived in Honolulu in the 80s and 90s). She has little time for any hula now but also found she misses it and so we're BOTH going to continue to learn hula from you! We're loving it! :-D
Aloha Lynn! Mahalo nui loa for these beautiful videos! I danced hula MANY years ago as a child in Volcano, and I want to honor my fiance, the land, and my culture at our upcoming wedding. So, I am dusting off my hula lei and practicing, practicing, practicing. Thank you so much!

If I could -- I'd try to attend your hula classes there. Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful hula with us. Aloha from Florida!
