I was a 16 year old Londoner living near Liverpool and a Villa supporter at the time and went to this game. Either under my own steam or dad took me in the car - can't remember. Was upset at the result :-) Amazed it's on RUclips in colour 52 years later - and amazed I'm still alive to see it.
Sharpshooting Burnley went up as champions, easily walloped us 3-0 at Villa Park. Arthur Howden Tech Drawing teacher at our Sutton Coldfield secondary school gloated at the result. Bastard.
Villa No.2 Brian Tiler struggled to overcome James and Thomas, both very fine wingers. I think he was soon replaced by brilliant youth player John Gidman...and soon on his way out of the club.

Newly promoted Villa finished 3rd that season. Only top 2 went up though. Villa promoted in ‘75 and the rest is history.

86/87 we went down
Burnley finished 1st, got promoted. Villa finished 3rd, missed promotion to QPR. Only the top 2 got promoted then.
