  • A short film I made over the weekend for an instagram contest by @swissinstameet. The given topic was 'growth', so I thought I'd try to show the beauty that lies in growing together, be it with other people or in this case with a tree.
    Everything you see and hear is done solely by me, so from writing to editing, the sound fx, voiceover as well as the music.
    Most sound fx were recorded by me but I had to use some ambience noise from freesound.org as well.
    The Equipment used:
    Fujifilm X-T3
    Vintage Konica Lenses
    a small SmallRig Rig
    Davinci Resolve
    Filmconvert Nitrate
    LutCalc Arri X-2 Lut
    Let me know what you think, I'd love to improve my filmmaking! And also feel free to ask, if you have any questions:)
    Huge thanks to my cousin's daughter and my friends grandma for playing so wonderfully, being so spontaneous and taking their time for me!
    Everything was shot in the county of Zurich, Switzerland

    PLEASE never stop creating, this is seriously amazing. If you told me that Terrence Malick made this, I would have completely believed you. It’s really on par with something like that. Please share more whenever you wish to.

    How did you grade it? Just curious! Did you shoot F-log and then applied the lut?

    • @samuelbrunner
      @samuelbrunner  4 года назад +1

      yeah I shot in F-Log (had my monitor display the lut though, to check exposure) and then in davinci I basically just applied the lut, added some halation and added a bit of grain + the mask for the '16mm film shots':) hope that helps

    This is truly a great little film very moving. I saw one of the comments that you shot in F-Log right but before applying the Arri Lut in Resolve was Log converted to Rec709 first?

    • @samuelbrunner
      @samuelbrunner  3 года назад +1

      thank you so much! Correct:) No, if I remember correctly, I didn't have to convert it to Rec709, the Arri Lut was from LutCalc, a website where you can enter your camera and shooting profile and then the camera and shooting profile you want to emulate, and it'll create a lut for you to download.. if that makes sense? There are videos on youtube that explain LutCalc a bit better, if you're interested;)

      This is amazing cause this seriously looks like an arri alexa I will check out LutCalc thanks. Any more videos coming like this I have seen you have not been uploading new stuff with this same setup vintage glass and fuji colors equals greatness

      @@talkseekbeats4192 sadly I never found the time since to do some filmmaking stuff... but I want to create some stuff next summer:) I sold my fuji, because my friend sold me his bmpcc4k and I found some incredibly nice vintage glass for the bmpcc4k... can't wait to shoot with it:) but the fuji xt3 is definitely a very nice camera, I was very happy with it!

      @@samuelbrunner any chance you remember the lens you were using for the shots at the end by the tree? They look incredible!

      @@boomernality1904 thank you, for the shots underneath the tree, I think I've used the 28mm f3.5 and for the very last shot thats from further away, showing the tree and the lady walking away, I'm not sure whether I've used the zoom lens or the 50mm 1.4 with a teleconverter from Konica, making it a 100mm
