I got my Shingrix. Sore arm, headache, tiredness for two days. Much better than shingles. My aunt got shingles + long term trigeminal neuralgia afterwards, she was miserable. Facial pain interfered with her sleeping for over a year. She would just cry. 😢
COVID is still my special interest and it is not over. However, even if the manifestation of COVID-19 (and variants) does eventually go the way of SARS, it will return in a different host and will probably be genetically dissimilar. There is a lot of reservoirs out that to cross over to humans.
Why isn’t a Wuhan escape being considered as a credible source of SARS 2 Covid? I’ve heard of no evidence of cross species transmission, with no examples of infection found in other species..it may be academic at this point but it may suggest better oversight of virus experimentation in laboratories, would it not?
Pacing as in walking back and forth repeatedly? As someone who had a far share of behavior that could be described as autistic stimming, including pacing. that I trained myself out of I find pacing makes me feel better if I am feeling anxious.
In grad school, I once referred to a document published by NASA. That was considered grey literature. It isn't peer reviewed though, coming from NASA, was considered to be reliable. I think non-peer reviewed documents released by pharmaceutical companies might be grey literature?
Thank you! My take aways: From what you quoted Bivalent vaccine boosters appear to offer zero protection against XBB variants. Paul Offit was right! Does this only apply to mRNA jabs or other types? Paxlovid appears to be only available in the USA. Certainly incredible difficult to get in UK & China. Shingrix jabs: I've never had any reaction to any jabs until I had Shingrix. Sore arm and considerable fatigue for a week after both jabs. But infinitely better than Shingles which I had 40 years ago.
There was (is?) a rental car company in Hawaii called 'Tropical Rent-A-Car" and on Molokai they ran a pack mule rental concession for bringing people up and down from the leprosy colony. They had bumper stickers which read, 'Wouldn't you rather be riding a mule on Molokai?'
In 1978, I visited Molokai, and rode one of the mules, while talking to the leper running the mule train. He was a lovely old man, missing his nose and several fingers. My husband was worried we might catch it, but I told him not to fear, it was caused by Mycobacterium leprae, and could be treated with antibiotics. (I was halfway through getting a BA in microbiology at UCLA.) These days, with dapsone- and rifampin-resistant leprosy, I might not be so sanguine about it. But, I'm sure all the lepers have long since passed on.
'Grey literature' - I've just spoken to a toxicologist, who peer reviews articles submitted to medical journals. He rejects those that mention as a source a bot. I think aspects of AI counts as Grey Lit.

So pleased to hear a sensible and informed discussion about POTS in Long Covid and in ME/CFS. The NASA lean test is so helpful for diagnosing POTS and other Orthostatic Intolerance. There's lots more helpful and accessible detail about this on the Bateman Horne website. It would be so good to avoid the past errors made in managing ME/CFS for those experiencing post exertion symptom exacerbation, often following trivial activity. David Tuller has helped bring past issues with poor research to light. Huge appreciation to you all
I learn many things with each episode. Thank you! One of your segments mentioned HPV. I had an ongoing discussion of testing for HPV with a friend, who is a Pulmonologist. He contends there is a test for males to determine if they have HPV. I can’t find evidence of a HPV test for men. Since this is a highly transmissible disease that can cause many chronic problems, it is unfortunate that some physicians don’t even know who & how it is currently tested. In addition & because a person has a MD title, such spread of misinformation is damaging. What’s your knowledge of a male test for HPV? Thank you!
Thanks Vincent and Daniel for all the information you give us every week!

A great example of why the initial linage should be included, in which case we would be calling it SARS-COVID-19.

Sounds concerning to me.
Read Michener's Hawaii when I was a kid, so I know all about Ma'i-Pake on Molokai with Father Damien. No armadillos there, either.
