I like how this feels like it has completely changed the genre of Terraria! We went from a 2d sandbox game to it's own little metroidvania with somewhat of a story!
The janitor is more powerful than Wall of Flesh - giant amalgam of flesh and bones, living in Underworld… Be careful with janitors - arguing with them can cost you life.

the person that was "controlling" mace project was either A, trying to kill you or B, trying to stop the machine from killing you would be pretty interesting as a town npc

Yeah magic dps is trash if you arent wearing the actual equipment. Just opt for ranged weapons if you really need the defense
All classes have bad dps if you wear the WRONG SET.

You do need godmode though because if you try to cheese past one of the bosses you take huge amounts of damage in blocked sectors
