My weekend was awesome. Rained pretty much non-stop from Thursday morning till Saturday night, which I loved (yeah, I'm a bit weird). Then went out Sunday afternoon to do some art supply shopping.
Just to highlight a problem with this announcement: with the constant attacks of scammers, we need to be very clear about the link we mean. I've just realised that this one may have attracted the cammer. If it had said "... to use the Skillshare link here ..." there could be no ambiguity about its meaning. Before anyone jumps on me for thinking they are idiots, there's nothing idiotic about misreading something when a scammer is commenting on our comments,. This is a case where, having read this Skillshare comment from Ashleigh, and the surprise reply to their comment about winning something, someone can easily fall for the trick. I know enough from trying to clear up spam from videos to be aware that usually, 2, 3 or 4 will fall for it. There's a simple way to check: Click on the commenter's name. If it doesn't take you to the ArtTubers home page, where the videos are listed, it's a scam!
Anyone wanting to "share" their art anywhere , whether online or in a gallery has to understand one thing. People will critique your work ,all that means is they have an opinion of it. It is their personal opinion of what you did. Most people putting in opinions about your work dont even do any type of art. Another thing to remember is their opinion is based on what they know or do. If they start the critique with " you should have" or " i would have" or "its garbage" , or anything negetive than you know it is a starting point of arrogance. If they cant tell you why they think it is not to their liking than you know to ignore what they say. Its just an opinion and like backsides everyone has one. So dont let fear of what someone says stop you from doing something. Take proper criticism as it is meant to be , as help . It is still up to you wether you wish to use it or not. Finally it is never too late to start. Just do it. You want to get better at your art you have to start it first to know where you are at and what you need to learn to get better. Keep in mind, a master at anything takes 10 000 hours in that field . sounds like a lot, but really it isnt. Once you get into what you love to do time will fly by. Its been a year since Ashleigh has had this channel and it doesnt feel like that long . Feels like a few months.
One of the goals for my 2023, is to paint more, and practice my art more. I think the thing that prevent me for painting the most is fear. And i want to overcome that.

But I have to say watching later and with this video in particular--with the painting being the continual focus--that I am impressed and respecting your pursuit of art rather than being just a pretty lifestyle vlog. As an aside, your recommendation and mention of Marco Bucci is an excellent one. I fiound his course on color one of the most useful out there. Having just started to engage with social media myself, I'm all the more impressed knowing what goes into every step of the process you've done so well. This was so true, Ashleigh. Most artists are perfectionists, myself included. I'm always second guessing myself but in the end I know that I need to keep trying and growing my skills. I am getting back into art and am slowly sharing my journey online too. It is very scary but also kind of fun. And I want to help motivate others who stopped making art like I did. Thank you to you both lol. Its strange sometimes that. I have good days and bad days. At times I get mad at myself. Then I stop and take a deep breath. I've been practicing loose roses and at times they are terrible then my hubby says they're not there good. I will continue to practice and watch others too. That helps too. Thanks! 😊 BTW, to answer your question, if you are naturally left-handed, and there's no physical handicap, it will be down to practice to steady your hand, and above all, belief that you can do it - because you can! Sorry there's no simpler answer. However, if it's your dominant hand, and it's handicapped, then you can teach yourself to write and draw with your non-dominant hand - again, it just takes a little time and practice, and again, above all, belief in yourself. I get all my students tp work this way at times, because it's important for all of us to be able to use our non-dominant hand in case we ever actually *have* to, due to accident or illness. Hope this helps!
Thanks for covering my question on what other areas of art you're interested in (I'm sure most of us would love to hear you play). A lot of the questions this time around seem to hit close to home. Of particular interest was the one about sharing your work online. I started my own IG page back when I first decided to back into art, intending to use it, as you said, as a sort of art journal. I still haven't had the guts to post anything to it. Fear is a harsh mistress, but I'm working on it. Great video. 👏👏👏👏
For someone who is a beginner and just now start on their art journey and if that person isn’t good at drawing or good at painting but still they want to start their art journey and make it a career what would you recommend for that person so they can be better at drawing and painting and other areas in art because let’s say since the person is a beginner and they don’t really know what to start but they’ve heard about the fundamentals of art and is learning but not quite sure where to start and how to learn how to draw etc. What can this person do and what would you recommend?
There's little bottles like you have with a spray nozzle at the end, it's way easier to wet the colors (that bottle is 50ml). I think they are about 6 for two dollarz or something like that.
Okay, I was actually thinking, “This painting looks a lot like Marco Bucci’s plein air watercolor style!” Then I thought to myself, “There are probably lots of people who paint that way.” And then you mentioned that you were painting this piece while following a Marco Bucci course! So you must be achieving the objectives from the course! It’s the expressiveness, hinting at detail with abstract shapes, and the use of white space. Very cool!
@@AshleighKing I would recommend watching HamRib’s videos on RUclips for watercolor inspiration (if you don’t already watch her stuff). Also I love Lioba Bruckner’s watercolor techniques! BTW, to answer your question, if you are naturally left-handed, and there's no physical handicap, it will be down to practice to steady your hand, and above all, belief that you can do it - because you can! Sorry there's no simpler answer.
However, if it's your dominant hand, and it's handicapped, then you can teach yourself to write and draw with your non-dominant hand - again, it just takes a little time and practice, and again, above all, belief in yourself.
I get all my students tp work this way at times, because it's important for all of us to be able to use our non-dominant hand in case we ever actually *have* to, due to accident or illness.

Thanks for covering my question on what other areas of art you're interested in (I'm sure most of us would love to hear you play). A lot of the questions this time around seem to hit close to home. Of particular interest was the one about sharing your work online. I started my own IG page back when I first decided to back into art, intending to use it, as you said, as a sort of art journal. I still haven't had the guts to post anything to it. Fear is a harsh mistress, but I'm working on it.

For someone who is a beginner and just now start on their art journey and if that person isn’t good at drawing or good at painting but still they want to start their art journey and make it a career what would you recommend for that person so they can be better at drawing and painting and other areas in art because let’s say since the person is a beginner and they don’t really know what to start but they’ve heard about the fundamentals of art and is learning but not quite sure where to start and how to learn how to draw etc. What can this person do and what would you recommend?

There's little bottles like you have with a spray nozzle at the end, it's way easier to wet the colors (that bottle is 50ml). I think they are about 6 for two dollarz or something like that.

Okay, I was actually thinking, “This painting looks a lot like Marco Bucci’s plein air watercolor style!” Then I thought to myself, “There are probably lots of people who paint that way.” And then you mentioned that you were painting this piece while following a Marco Bucci course! So you must be achieving the objectives from the course! It’s the expressiveness, hinting at detail with abstract shapes, and the use of white space. Very cool!
