Don't forget that the software and hardware on this test "Spark" device they are using is NOT finished yet! DJI will be addressing certain issues before the actual product launches in June. Like so others know!
Mavic will still be better. Ofcourse because it's a more expensive option from the same manufacturer.
MyBeomaster901 I am a beginner when it comes to drones. Would you recommend just getting a Mavic or starting off with a Spark then working my way up? I am planning on filming vacations and random activities as a hobby.

Chris G this is definitely what you should get. I have purchased it for the same purporse and the gimbal gives you perfect stable shots. recommended.
Great device, just video quality seems to be very poor. You sure it was set properly?
The frame speed looks quite awkward. Perhaps it was exported from Premiere Pro in the wrong settings

I have a Mavic, and if it is the same, then it was because his shutter speed was really high. Thats why the train doesnt look natural when it's moving and makes the footage look kind of washed. DJI drones' shutters go up on auto when it's really bright outside (which it was). Would look better with an ND filter (like sunglasses for a lens) or on a less bright day

Thanks so much! I just bought this for my husband for Christmas, and can't wait to give it to him. We have a boat, and I was worried about having this over water, so your video shooting over water helped ease my fears.

You could use a Nikon DSLR or any other camera like Panasonic Lumix G3 also for Nikon you could use a nifty fifty lens for nikon

guys, the new 'spark' isn't meant to be 10/10 quality. It's mainly for beginners as it's easy to use, and quite cheap for how incredible it actually is. keep in mind, it's also an unfinished version of it. So don't complain about the quality, just yet. 😉
The crystal clear blue water was a huge distraction. So mesmerizing

To anyone who thinks the footage looks bad (I thought so too) I think they did something wrong because in other reviews it looked much better.
I got rid of my mavic pro and p4 to get this with 3 batteries and had alot of money change to.
It's an amzing little drone very impressed.
I call it my mini Mav or the mantis.
So why did you choose spark over Mavic pro??

Affe K to launch it the drone has to recognize your face. I don't know if the drone is constantly scanning your face for recognition or not.

Love the Spark! Matter of fact, I just posted my take on it on my channel - still one of my first videos, but I'm very impressed with the drone and I can't wait to try it out when it finally ships in ~3 weeks. I got me a Fly More Combo in Sky Blue.

You could not chose a better location for this review. Absolutely love it. The drone looks interesting, but I am not sure about the footage.
The only minor tweak I would like is longer flight time but I expect that and maybe 4k in an update or two. It's basically the best drone for most people - especially hobbyists and realtors.

What you use, any LUTs you prefer/created, when/why you personally enjoy using it and showing us some of your actual color grading styles/choices in "action" within the software you prefer. Maybe throw in some questions about it as well. Like...Do you always color grade? How long do you typically spend color grading? At what point in your editing process do you grade? What adjustments/variations/LUTs do you prefer for indoor versus outdoor footage? Do you have a color grade style or "trademark" look you are going for, etc? Might be a nice vlog idea for a super busy travel day or if you are under the weather or need a break, etc (like Q and A's 'n' such). Regardless, we enjoy your work. The footage looks way better without your colour grading
Max Walter what is colour grading? I've been seeing that a lot on videos
@@jessehernandez773 It's when you change the colors and visual appearance of the video when you edit it, for instance make the colors more bright and vibrant or add more contrast.
Sometimes if they film on a cloudy day the video might look very grey and dull but they can change the coloring afterwards and make it look better. It's also why a lot of people like
to take photos in "raw" format because it lets you modify all the technical things like exposure manually after you have taken the photo and make it look exactly like you want after.
When you are proud that you own a Mavic Pro but DJI comes and kicks your ass with their new Spark

Always wanted a Drone but the mavick & phantom 4 are too expensive but this Spark looks perfect as I'm only a beginner looking for my 1st Drone. I make lots of iMovies from videos from my iPhone 6 which records at 1080p 60fps and my only concern with the Spark is it only records at 1080p 30fps. I'm no software tech but are updates possible to change it to 60fps or 30fps is the best it will be now. Great review guys.

Awimies 4k is only a resolution, not quality.
Also, Jon didnt use the proper settings, you can change it to make it look better except he didnt change any settings.

It's better to buy the mavic, it is more expensive but the video quality is way better, and the space it takes to cary with you is very small because of the folding arms, so it isn't that much bigger to carry around.
Jonah van der Meide Already got a Mavic! Just want something to always have with me and don't worry if I break it. Plus you can control it woth your bare hands within seconds, how cool is that!

Hey Jon, I think the quality of the DJI Mavic is much better and it lasts longer. For the VLOG - it is the better solution
Mavic has 4K, Spark has only 1080p HD
That's why he should take the mavic instead of the spark!

But why not just use the mavic? when its folded its SMALLER than the spark and the video quality is way way better, better battery, better features... the spark is designed for teens who want cool selfies

I bought both, because spark is superior over Mavic in couple of things.. Even folded mavic, whole spark with batteries etc can be smaller and lighter to carry. Whole spark system is lighter and smaller to carry compared to Mavic. BIG PLUS. Another big plus is, that spark is so tiny, quiet and small that you can feel free to fly it anywhere where Mavic still is too big and loud to fly.. I like that! And last one: you can charge your batterys via cheap powerbank which is big plus. If I want more stability and 4k and I have room to carry bigger and heavier stuff, then I take Mavic with me. And when I plan to shoot more serious work, I take my car and DJI S1000.

All the people reviewing this thing mention how they are not paid to say anything good about it. Well they all got the drone for free so they sort of did get paid, they got paid the price of the drone. If they give it a negative review they are probably not getting any more free stuff from DJI.
Watched 2-3 other reviews of this drone and all of them said the exact same thing, perhaps DJI told em to say that.

Second, the footage looks a bit over-sharpened, but not when you switch to no color grading.. So am I to take it that you guys just over-sharpened the footage a bit? I know it's to taste, but just thought i'd ask to see if it was the color grading or the footage.
Also really stable for the size! And best review I've seen thus far on the Spark!

The footage looks really bad it looks like 720p not 1080p like DJI said, DJI should have made it 4k because looking at the Mavic camera you could easily fit it on the spark.

What happens if someone else does those gesture and steals your spark?
What happens if you put your hand near your body? Will the drone drop down and crash if it misses the land?
I think it has facial recognition so it will follow your commands but not theirs. It's also very picky about how you hold your hand so I highly
doubt that putting your hand down quickly will make the drone do the same thing. It has built in sensors on the bottom as well so it won't
just drop down. Even if you try to do it with a controller it will carefully try to land if you hold the joystick down but it will do it very slowly.
I am new subscriber and I apologize for my blunt question. Did You and friends developed this drone? If the answer is YES, than I have to agree with some previos vlog follower "You are a quiet intellegent man my friend". I believe,if You developed view succesful projets in your life and You keep Your head and feet on the ground ,You will succeed with many other projects you put your passion and heart in. Important is to gather right people around You, to make Your vision come true.
