What Went Wrong With The NBA All Star Game

- The #nba all star game sucks and here’s why. Last year was called the worst all-star game of all time.
The score was 184-175, Tatum set a new record for most points in an all star game, and everyone hated it, because there was no defense, no competition, not even in the 4th quarter. Oh it’s East vs West now. *There’s no way it happens* agai--
It happened again. The East broke a record for most points in an all-star game moments after Larry Bird said all he wanted was the game to be competitive.
*But it doesn’t have to be like this.* I remember a recent all-star game that was so competitive, players were taking charges.
When Kobe passed away, the NBA decided to completely rehaul the All-Star game making each quarter mean something for each team’s charity, and then the last quarter being a score target of 24 points more than the leading team’s score.
At the end of each of quarter, if the score was close, players were fighting for the last two minutes, trying to win each quarter.
And in the 4th quarter, players were going all out.
We saw players icing pick and rolls, taking charges, having to run pick and rolls to get a mismatch*.* It was physical.
Which seems like problem solved right?
Until you realize the worst all star game before 2023 was 2017 when AD set a new scoring record and these supposed rules were meant to solve the problem, but didn’t even last 3 years.
This has been a cycle that keeps repeating and keeps getting worse. *And I’m tired of it, we already lost the dunk contest, now we losing this?* So I’m going to go through why this is happening, why certain All-Star games worked and how to fix it, starting with when the All Star game was truly the best players going at it, no gimmicks, just hoops and a desire to win.
When they asked Anthony Davis about the high scoring in the All-Star game, he just replied, “It’s the All-Star game” …nah bro y’all just had 397 points in a game and more importantly that’s never what the All-Star game was only about.
It was about the best players going at it, to see what they were capable of for just one quarter.
What we all want is this. That is the 2013 All-Star game when Kobe took it upon himself to guard LeBron, not half ass the effort, no, full court.
Or in 2012 when Wade broke Kobe’s nose and he had to wear a mask, but ok what about non Kobe related things. Look at 2001. The 4th quarter was always when players took it seriously until the West started winning everything and they said let’s make captains pick teams.
The All-Star game ratings had dropped for 3 years straight capped off by 2017 when Anthony Davis broke the single all-star game scoring record getting open lobs like this in the 4th quarter so 2020 was a new reset. It’s competitive, *we finally will get at least one quarter of the best players competing hard* for a couple of yea-- Oh.
The ratings for the 2023 All-Star Game had a record low viewership, 27% lower than 2022.
*And this stems from players walking all over Adam Silver.*
He believed that players would play defense, but no they did not. And it’s that failure in leadership over and over again that’s led us to this.
It’s the same problem we’ve been seeing in the regular season, to the point that the NBA had to enforce rules forcing players to actually play games. Yeah I’m talking about the 65 game minimum to be considered for awards that Draymond has called stupid and other players complained about. And I get it, if you have legitimate injuries like Tyrese Haliburton that keep you out but you’re also playing at the best point guard in NBA level, it sucks. But we didn’t get here of the pretenses of real injuries, no we got here because players were sitting out.
It’s possible that one player from the older era was keeping the all star game together. He wouldn’t let it become what we’re seeing today. We saw it in the olympics when Kobe was doing those early 4,6 Am workouts, LeBron, Wade, Melo, and the rest of the team would eventually follow. It’s possible that he was the last domino and when he retired, there was no one holding the players accountable because obviously Adam Silver hasn’t the way the previous commissioner David Stern did.
*So how do we fix it? How do we make a meaningless game have meaning?*
It starts from the top down. You need the top of the top players to buy in, but how do you do that? The best and most revered players in the league, like LeBron, KD, and Curry, need to set the tone. They need to bring that competitive fire and passion to the All-Star game, inspiring the younger generation to do the same. If these top players take the game seriously, the rest of the league will follow suit. - Спорт
What should the NBA do?
What do you want to see next?
Bigger question should be...what should the fans do? Vote with your eyeballs and pockets
Here’s what I think they should do, a 3v3 tournament; East vs West. 3 starters and 2 bench per quarter.
Each quarter its first to 30 OR whoever has the highest score that quarter. Field goals are 1pt, 3-pointers are 2pts.
Opposing coaches pick which players they want to play each quarter, draft style. Coaches take turns w/ first pick.
Players can only play 2 quarters max (1 start, 1 bench). 3 fouls and you’re out.
You can have some charity benefit for the winner or each quarter and game.
Start with Silver...the players don't respect him. The new commish will have to meet with the best in the league and NBAPA to set the tone and lay out what is expected. Ratings are hurting for our sport and the All-Star game is part of it. It's basically All-Star shoot around with fans...while the players are high.
Modern NBA is terrible
Close shop.
Hot take. The losers shouldn’t get payed. That would make it competitive and worth something for the players
Losers should pay the winners.
L take. Pay them more to win
@@imslowerthanlight.1739they already making millions why they need 500k that’s right they don’t
No one should get paid for that mess
@@timothysmith6330 exactly players saying they want 500k just for being in it is crazy
Allen Iverson once said "I gotta play every game; it might be someone first and only time seeing me play"
Real G
Honestly, I think social media and the internet, highlights on youtube, etc are a big reason players today don't care about that mentality. They probably think "they can look up my highlights, they know" It does suck that that mentality does seem to be gone though
So true, this is the Euroleague mindset right here :D
A.I. Is greatest player ever. Never left the court without giving everything he had. Just don’t expect him to practice 😂
When the players care, the allstar game is good. That's literally it.
Plain & simple. Them fools blow money more n strip clubs than what they get paid 4 a All Star game.Thry don't think about fans that work regular jobs that gotta take days off work & save up 2 see them play
Adam Silver has done more harm to the league besides getting the players paid 100% guaranteed for 66% of the work.
and gambling
And lechina, he has done alot of harm to the nba
He's a Jew, they ruin everything
Can’t wait for another worst all star game of all time next year
if they don't kidnapp all the players and "encourage" them to play defense. the repercussions from this year's weekend will hit them hard
Unless Lebronze finally retires, but I wouldn't count on that...
They need to flip it around and make an all rookie game, where the best rookies compete hard.
The all star game is only game you *don’t* want a scoring record
What is also crazy about David Stern and Kobe is that they passed away the same year in the same month.
Crazy thing is they play harder in pick up games against each other in the summer "getting ready" for the season is which they actually don't play hard in and rest and have a shooting drill / lay up line Allstar game
Which is silly. Since the argument is that they can get hurt. Lol, they can get hurt in the pickup games...
Instead of paying them more. just get rid of the all star weekend so they don’t get paid for any insensitive on their contracts. And maybe they will actually appreciate getting selected as an all star when they bring it back.
I agree! Stop paying those soft asses
nba players make it really hard to like them i gotta say
Sports players in general really. They are all overpaid babies
Culture, spirit, love for the game. Not just money. Your 100% right the top guys need to set the example.
I wish I could get the time back for watching All-Star weekend. Really tired of the NBA lack of competition. Now I know why Jordan and Mark sold their teams.
Asking Lebron to show competitive fire maybe a lost cause. It is against his nature as evidenced by all his flopping, sitting out games, leaving court during unfinished games, manufactured stats, whining complaints, always asking for more help and self promotion. His persona / product is built more on media hype and make believe than on court 2-way performance and conduct. He persinifies this NBA era of player self- entitlement above interests of fans. I hope he reignites indivudual competitiveness in NBA but not holding my breath on it either.
💯
well said and not one lie. We all could see it coming over the past decade. I think it also has to do with earning absurd sums of money. Players like Jerami Grant (POR) are given 5 year $160 million contracts. WHO??
doesnt help that he will be 40 next year
We've hit the point where NBA is actively trying to do "irreparable damage" to their brand
And all on the chosen one's watch. like him of not, you cannot say Kobe didn't stand for effort and respect for the game and fans.
Too much exposure, too much money, too much entitlement. Good times make weak men, and these players have it way too good and nothing to play hard for.
These inflated contracts and egos have destroyed the AS Game and regular season.
In addition, Nick Wright made a great point that the only thing the media cares about is postseason accomplishments....so why should they care about anything else.... Which really rings true if we think about it.
If you don't want to play and compete year after year, do us all a favor and RETIRE. There's someone that wants it. These clowns just want "the bag".
Remember Jordan Poole and Wiggins in the locker room after they won the finals? That is their first thought? Not reaching the ultimate goal of the sport at a relatively young age. Something which some all time greats weren't able to get.
Man please Nick wright is so far up Lebron arse he will say anything to defend these broads 😂
Cut salaries by 90%, don't pay when they don't play! Also, to prevent flops, change the court to concrete, problem solved. 😂
LeBum should lead them since he's the oldest player like Kobe did in his twilight year's a player. Yet LeBum leads other players to be whiny and complains a lot like he always does.
Cant wait for this jackface to retire
LeFraud was never a leader

we need david stern back. cuz all of the best eras were when he was in control. he actually held accountability unlike adam silver.
Well he's passed so.....

I love basketball, but that shit was hard to watch. I did have the OVER though, so there was that
Please Bring back the nba I knew and loved ever scents I was little
$500k a player but its put in a team pool. Pay is then docked for the winning team once the opponent reaches 80 pts scored then docked further if it reaches 90 pts, 100 pts etc. This will encourage them to play D since the less their opponent scores the more theyll make. Or something like that
Maybe something like 200k for each player of the winning team plus a 300k bonus for each player, if they can hold the losing team to below 100 points.
Lack of competition is short for lack of defense. Thats the real problem here
They should honestly just do away with it at this point. No way anyone who is a star is gonna put that much effort into a meaningless game. It worked back in the day when people were more competitive and didn't care about injuries and other stuff, as a lot of times; people just played through them. I think it's just people see it for what it is now, not something to care about. It was always a meaningless game, only just the mentality of people was different and made it mean something.
I agree with most of the people that if they really wanted to, make whoever wins all star weekend have home court advantage in the finals. I don't give a shit about if an 8 seed Eastern conference team gets it over a 1 seed. Make them actually have something to fight for. Though honestly if they're gonna shit out awful all star weekends every damn year, they should just stop doing them. It's going to affect no ones legacy.
and even if it would affect the Legazy of Players just scrap it.
The best solution is to not pay the losers. Money should not be an issue to take the ASG seriously. These stars are paid more than enough just to dribble and put a ball in a hoop. Being selected as an all-star is a privilege, not a right. Every year there are all-star snubs that are also deserving of being selected. Simply, anyone is replaceable. If they don’t want to play, replace them.
Stop ruining the game we love. Just play.
natural selection baby. There comes hardly anybody to mind who would personify competitiveness. It used to be more about "I'll show you who the best SG (or C) is" - like Shaq vs Robinson. Barkley vs Malone. Jordan vs any other SG....
"STOP BEING GREEDY!" - DMX
I'm sure Kobe if he saw this would not want his name associated with the All-Star award, it's disrespectful how much these players don't care even though they say that Kobe means a lot to them. Even when it came to his shoes if his teammates wearing his shoes weren't giving it their all he told them to take off them Kobes. It's a spit in the face to the great Kobe and it's disgusting.
Would have loved for him to be there, at the ceremony and instead of handing over the trophy he would just dropped it to the floor and put on his Kobe I-am-very-disappointed-in-you face and then tell Adam silver to not use his name for something like THAT
Positive side effect, it would mean he was still among us.
The thing is, the main all star game will never be competitive because players don’t want to get injured. The way to fix it is get rid of that game format altogether, and change it into a 3 on 3 single elimination tournament, with the championship match being West vs East finalist. First to 30 wins, and you can add special rules to make it interesting which can be different each year. Each team draft bench players from the Rookie/Sophmore games, but they may not see any minutes. Championship game is capped at a higher score. Draft is Friday, tournament is Saturday, championship game is Sunday and you move some of the Saturday events to Sunday.
Bruh even when they played serious nobody ever got injured that’s a sissy mentality they don’t care in the summer when they playing meaningless practice runs 🤷🏽♂️SOFT
I remember that year when in the final seconds Jordan assisted Ewing for the win, exactly as Riley drew on the last time out. What a game😢
Disgusting. Luka Steph and Jokic tanking wide open layups etc… this is a shame RIP KOBE 🙏🏾 he was more needed than we ever know
Do it like the 2000s
It’s like a shoot-around but without the defense 😂
LeBron suppose to take some responsibility to make NBA better but as usual he won’t do anything. Most NBA popularity downfall happened in LeBron Era. Miss KOBY
Go to your local court.
Fuck around.
Then say "It's just an exhibition game".
Then see if yu vet picked again...
We're not pro athletes who play 82 game seasons, playoffs, plus practice. That's just a silly example

NBA are overpaid and PRE paid!!
This is a DISINCENTIVE!!!
Dudes are out playing for free on concrete courts for the LOVE of the game!!
I can't picture a 3-on-3 game looking like that - why bother?!?!?
@darrengordon-hill Fans playing for fun isn't the same thing as the top 1% athletes playing competitively.
As a fan in general, I care more about my favorite team competing in the playoffs, not some glorified exhibition game with no stakes. The players clearly also don't care either because they have no reason too.

As a fan, your team might not even be represented in the ASG (see Sacramento Kings)...
Should we reduce the season to the 28 games known as the Playoffs??
They want an additional 500k for having to do their job, are the 100+ million dollar contracts not enough? Unbelievable.
Good Video mate :)
Cancel the whole weekend: it's worthless to fans anyway. In a few years, they'll want it back.
I guess I could boycott it, but I don't feel like one person means much...
LeBron certainly set the tone...
for years. wanna be the GOAT. behave better than the rest. the ONLY thing that made Kobe leave the court was tearing his freaking Achilles - and even then he walked back to shot 2 FTs. LET THAT SINK IN. Lebron gets carried of the court when the AC is not working. This is emblematic for the new bread of players.
Thank you for this 🙏🏽
Great video and good takes throughout.
Players have too much say. I agree, it stems from bad management. They need to enforce or the players will keep pushing back, like is in humanities nature.
Iv noticed that a lot of things have this same issue. Video games, shows, movies even food everything is changing but not in a good way
2016 was the last all star weekend I watched. I rather watch the pro bowl over the ASG.
I have 2 very extreme ideas. 1. If you don’t play defense you get your all-star selection revoked (that’s the least favorable of the 2) or 2. If you put in game level effort on defense you get paid significantly more, maybe even double.
Yeah, that's not going to work my friend but I respect the sentiment.
I do think being banned from future as games is legit the way to do it
@@tbone7679 The problem is who determines what qualifies as 'defense' and to what degree is it enforced? You can't magically force athletes to be competitive with fear of punishment. There needs to be proper incentive. If they don't care individually, perhaps something similar to baseball would be interesting. Such as giving the winning side game 1 home court advantage in the NBA finals. That's just an example, I don't necessarily think this is a good change from the current system but it's an interesting thought.
@@JJFX- I really don’t think it would be that hard for a small committee to do it. They could grade each player from this year to set the standard and go. Im pretty sure these guys could easily give as much effort as they do to a scrimmage practice so it would become a moot point. You grade Doncic an easy F, give Curry and a few others a B and move on.
@@tbone7679 It COULD be done but there's already a bias problem in the league with certain players/teams and defense isn't that simple. One player lacking on or easing up on individual defense isn't always a problem if the team is functioning as intended. Even if you put together the perfect grading system, you can't force players to care about the game. It means nothing to me to see them put in just enough 'defense' to not get banned, that just isn't basketball.
Again, I respect the concept and agree with where you're coming from. I just don't think this would be anything more than a band-aid, only offering a slight improvement at best.
The score looks more like a bowling score than a basketball game. The Harlem Globetrotters played more defense than these clowns (and the Globetrotters were clowning around.)
Maybe all-stars against the Globetrotters? ;-)
@@williampugh5032 That would be awesome! 😂
New Jersey generals
the actual in szn games look like this too unfortunately
Hot take: if players won't compete for the all star game, stop the whole all star selection thing period at least for next year and then maybe the following year maybe Players will take it seriously.
No all star selections, no all star game, no three point or dunk contest, scrap it all for an entire year.
They're not gonna do that cause, even tho the ratings are low, the NBA still makes a shit ton of money off of the All Star weekend
What’ll make it more competitive is to stopping having allstar weekend every year. Do it every 5 years so it gains some anticipation. Then the players might feel more motivated to play
Nobody gon mention the random Melo clip 😭😭😂😪
I wonder what the sales have been for all star jerseys every year and if those have gone down too
i play for a team in a small town in england, we compete in both the sheffield & doncaster leagues, obviously only at an amateur level, but each week we have a scrimmage session & each & every player gives 110%, purely out of sheer passion & love for the game, if the guys getting paid millions & millions of dollars can’t put in the same effort each & every time they step on the court then what hope is there? a competitive all star game would truly be the highlight of the nba season, but without the superstars taking the lead i don’t see it happening sadly
2:00 subtitles we already lost the *dumb* contest
me: sound about right
Very well made video. And you hit the nail on the head with this one. Lebron is setting a bad example with his laziness and lack of competitiveness. And that's not just for the all star game but for the regular season too. And other players are following suit. And if this was back in Stern's era he would have done something to hold them accountable. But it's Silver's era and he doesn't have the balls to do anything about it.
They should make it so if the east or west wins the all star game they would get home court advantage in the finals
aint no way an 8th seed Miami (for example) should get home court over 1st seed Denver
yall just copy and paste comments without thinking for yourself
How about they actually just do their job without incentives? It’s like asking for a tip when all they did was serve your coffee…. That’s nba players’ job! To shoot a ball in a hoop and make it entertaining!
You know you have a huge problem when all the changes they need to make to get players to be competitive are EXTERNAL changed. Nothing is internal, from the player's hearts.
How about they don't offer more money or any other bullshit and these guys just start playing hard because they really want to beat each other...like MJ and Kobe
@@JamesTheRealSpeaker3.0_ The nba tried already multiple times over the past fews and it hasn’t worked and this would most likely solve the problem since every nba player’s goal is to make the finals and the nba ain’t giving out more money so this could work. NBA players have no heart and are entitled people that just want more money
I can’t really pinpoint the moment when I stopped following the NBA season, but by 2018 I was not keeping up the same anymore. Partly from the super team warriors.
Agree ! Something has to be done, Man I remember back in the days it was such an awaited event ! Now it's meh..
If they really want to make it more competitive, I have a suggestion.
What if the players of the winning team will earn an incentive that will affect their season accolades. For example, let's say the players of the winning team will have an extra 5-10 missed games to be eligible for nba awards. I don't know if all star game should affect the season tournament, but I can't see them not trying to win with that kind of rewards.
I think the asg should become WNBA vs. NBA
I've been saying use their plus minus per quarter to affect their teams record ex. If Tatum's 3rd quarter+/- is 5 Celtics get 5 of their wins deducted and add to the loss column now the All stars have stakes to play by
each team in the winnning conference gets an extra win. A game they lost will be erased and a win is added. That could affect the home court advantage aspect in the NBA finals.
Everybody wants to get selected as an all-star yet don't want to compete at least as competitive as summer league for the fans.
Aye I think that players not being loyal to teams also plays a party in the all star game being trash...thnk about it back in the day players were more loyal to teams so the east vs west teams didn't change up players very often
That’s a great point, also ties into rivalries or lack thereof
Basketball is my favorite sport to play, but least favorite to watch. I can't stand seeing people not play defense. Even when I played competitively, accountability was huge when it came to team defense. It's sad to see what's happened to my favorite sport. I understand that I was never good enough to make it to the professional level, but my love for the game seems to be more than a lot of these professionals these days.
It also doesn't help that the NBA has changed a lot of rules that benefit the offensive player, and I do agree with you @MJ2KALLDAY, the best players in the league need to step up and lead this young generation of players the same way the OG's use to do it.
I haven’t tuned into All Star Weekend since 2016 cause I saw it going downhill as soon as Kobe retired
I think paying the winning team $500k could work if they show them the $500k piled high in bands on a table. There’s something about seeing that money in cash that is extra motivating.
Turf Silver. Nuff' said.
How can the allstar game be competitive when the refs don’t even allow players to even tap each other without getting flagrant foul calls
in the past flagrant fouls did nothing to stop players from giving hard flagrant fouls.
It’s crazy we can’t expect basketball players to play basketball
It's the all star game man
@IllMatic97 No one is asking for game 7 in the Finals defense. But holy shit, can you pretend like you care. Put a hand up, don't let players just walk into the lane for a dunk or layup. Block a shot, play man. These are the best basketball players in the world. 50 percent effort and this game is 10x better.
what is the jazz song on 9: 47 . Pls i search and asked it for years . Pls someone
They should get paid after the game depending on the ratings. If its bad, they earn almost nothing, if it's good, they earn more
Jokic and Luka playing keep off the ground was all I needed to see to know just how bad it was...wish they'd fix it. Put something on the line, reward money or something
Curry played more Defense in the all star ⭐️ game than he did in his entire career lol 😂😂 I respect him just for that tryna help the fan get a good game
They have a entire off season, imagine them having 2 work everyday & get paid like us.
The NBA could add an “intensity card” where the teams draft players in the league that could make the game a lot more interesting. People like Dillon Brooks, Draymond, Jusuf Nurkic, Grayson Allen etc. It could even spark rivalries for regular season/playoffs ahead.
easy fix, just put it in the contract that if they make the all star game and win they get 3-5% bonus on salary. they have to play a minimum of say 10-12 mins. then, you give the coaches incentives in their contract if they make the all star game and win they get an increase in salary also. this should make them play the players who are working the hardest. you also make these bonuses not count against the salary cap (obviously from the players side). any other suggestions to add to this?
Path of least resistance- sure sounds like LeBron’s career. Kobe fought to get Shaq off his team to prove himself - to compete harder - the total opposite or LeBron.
I grew up watching 🏀 and the whole All Star event is being destroyed which is sad 😢. Dunk contest judges were 🗑️ plus now we have another 3pt contest on Sunday?! Lol
star you right the NBA needs to be more competitive
I think what people don't understand is that the viewers make the All-Star game what it is. It's ironically because the viewers stopped watching the games, that the games got relaxed. When it was the 90s, it meant that it was just another basketball game to people - even in the early 2000s it was like that but once it stopped getting views, and fans controlled most of everything, they started playing less hard. Add in the fact that getting nominated is what they're looking for, and you have what you have today.
Guess that's what happens if you forbid any defense. It's ridiculous, devaluates scoring and destroys previous records and stats when they used to play normal basketball.
They should give 2 awards: MVP and Defensive Player of the All Star Game
Competing is a mindset. Kobe / Jordan would rather sit out than play in this kind of all star game. They making a mockery of the game
I noticed majority of players' "fighting" spirit started to plummet down after Kobe retired. :(
A true warrior never fights for lucre.
Lebron hasn't played defense in years, that's not going to change
it’s like Kobe passed away and all the players went “ Okay we can loosen our belts now guys”
New idea for all star:
1.Create 8 teams with 5 players selected
2. Only two team plays each quater at full pace and for something
3. Award players for best perfomances at that.
The NBA also should stop caring about longevity of the season for money miliking that they should care about the quality for once. People want to watch the best players compete on all events even if it isn't special because thats what they are paid for.
This is a problem when you give an employee too much power. NBA players should get paid per game. If you miss a game, you don't get paid if you don't put effort into a game you get sent home
Since they changed the rules, the stats of the game now should not be compared to the stats before they changed the rules. Anybody can score now.
Tie in the supermax with all star wins - win and being an allstar counts for contract negotiation, lose and it could cost you millions.
It wouod be intense
The problem is we shouldn't make the all star game a punishment for the losers, maybe a big fat bonus will do it but it can't be something that will affect them throughout the season.
I boycotted the NBA All Star games for a few years during the non East vs West competition. I tuned into this year's. What annoyed me this year was the 3hr pregame show.
Move the In Season Tournament to the All Star Break.
Move the All Star Weekend to the weekend before the Finals begins.
Players in the finals can become All Stars but won’t play; they will be substituted for other players the same way it is done for all stars who are injured.
The Finals can begin on the Tuesday after the All Star Weekend.
Unfortunately. We cannot put this problem to Steph and Lebron since they are near the end of their NBA runs.. this has to be the young guns wanting it, but ill be hard since they have been pampered with money so thats it
YO WASSUP MJ I Agree with u the all star game should be competitive to make it more entertaining. However, the reason why it’s not as competitive bc players don’t want to start trying and god forbid get injured, then they will miss the games of the rest of the season or every worse the playoffs.
This would be a valid excuse if there were examples of players frequently getting injured during all star games. There is no examples of that so it’s just an empty excuse for a generation that offer fans more excuses than actually competing.
A good alternative would be like what the MLB did in the past, before they recently changed it in 2017, where the team that won (AL or NL, in this case East vs West) wins home field advantage for the finals (world series for baseball). In this case players would be fighting for their legacy as they could win home court advantage in the big stage, and also show the league their commitment for winning a title for their franchise.
The winners of the previous years all star game should get a 5 pt advantage in the in-season tournament championship the next year.
Scrap the game altogether. Wait until the regular season is over and then vote for who earned all star status. Have the fan vote only count for the top 3 players. After that only players, coaches and journalists vote and decide the rest of the roster of who earned it for the season.
I was watching a replay of a 1999 ASG and the difference is insane, players played defense!!! and cared!!!, everything now around the ASG is cheap af.
