I feel like an additional water bag, so 1 dirty bag 1 clean bag and a Sawyer Squeeze would probably work better, especially to filter water for your whole family
As a 25 year fireman/paramedic there isn’t any better info than this. I would add a bag/valve mask if you know how to use it and learn how to start iv’s and have some iv fluid as well. quick clot and kerlix as well. Learn to pack a wound. It’s gnarly but will save a life. Thanks Mike. Maybe a cheap water filter too, no matter where you are.
1million percent agree on bag valve mask, that is absolutely life saving, cheap, and personal protection compared to trying mouth to mouth
getting your hands on NS is a pain. unless you are a supply room bandit...

glad to have you back. My wife and I have been talking a lot about this subject lately. As a family of four with two littles ones, this is a big deal. One thing I think that would be a "nice to have" is a family photo or some individuals of your family. what if someone goes missing and you don't have your phone to show a photo? or you just want to have one. Maybe a few small printed ones.

Love the 300 Blackout has a home defense round. However, not sure I would want that has a “truck gun”. I would think you would want a 5.56 type platform in case you had to pick up and/or use someone else’s mag/ammo. Great video and information.

I've done something similar with the colors, blue, green, black, red, and a faraday bag.
I'd add ifak fannies for the family with some ppe, glasbreakers, comms, lights snacks, filters to spread the load. In case you lose each other everyone can sustain themselfs for abit

Mike - How many watts can that antenna handle on the yeasu? I think I have one of those and it is rated for 5 or 6 watts. Might want to consider another or a second antenna. The radio is a good pick!
Thank you for doing this. Stats would say we are way more likely to be in a weather related emergency, mechanical breakdown, accident or roadside emergency. Heck! Statistics say your more likely to crap your pants than be in a violent situation. If your one of those guys that says they carry a pew pew so "they can be prepared for anything". Then be prepared for everything. Have a kit that benefits your family, community, and yourself. Stay safe, stay strapped

People MISSED out 1 critical thing: FUEL. Everyone built this and that, but vehicles or electric vehicles use FUEL. How far can we go without fuel. Who will sell us fuel if everyone know disaster came? That is why I stick to bicycle, inline skating, something operated bt human energy. Inline or quad skating could help people travel faster pace than walking. When seeing mud or river, take them off and across. Can vehicles go through real tight trail? Go through river without knowing how depth it is? Many many questions I can listed but leave it for everyone to explore. I dont share anything hard earn knowledge for free, sorry !

Hey Mike! Where did you get the colored pouches for your kit?
Field craft sells them.
Grayl is okay, but Sawyer is much better, at least for biological contaminants. They filter way better, and they last several orders of magnitude longer (like 200 gallons vs 60,000 gallons). And they are much cheaper. You can buy like 5 Sawyer filters for the price of one Grayl. It's one of the few times the affordable version really is better.
They only thing Grayl may have an advantage is with chemically contaminated water, and in that case I think you need a much better solution than the Grayl. I think the MSR MiniWorks pump is superior in that situation, and I'm not sure I'd 100% trust even that in a problem chemical situation. But it would be better than the Grayl.

Anyone that doesnt already have one needs to get a lifevac. Amazon like $75-80 but worth every penny. Dual masks sizes for adults and children, near 100% effectiveness and best of all peace of mind. 1 in the house and 1 in each car incase our child chokes on something in the car, pull over fast, facemask on and bam, life saved. #1 emergency piece I always recommend people dont often think about, choking safety
