Thanks so much for this, Ryan. I believe this is the only full tutorial of The Wild Ones on RUclips. Although you appear to have been unfamiliar with the band, Suede were huge in the UK in the 90s and I'm sure their fans who have stumbled upon this video really appreciate it. I discovered your channel through this vid and am now a subscriber. Your passion for music really comes through in your lessons and from the perspective of a beginner like myself you really make guitar playing look like fun. Cheers from the UK.
thank you Paul! Indeed, making this video was my introduction to Wild Ones. I have since added a few of their albums to my golf playlist. Still, I have no shame for mistaking them as 80's music - there was a big bleed in the "preferred tone" of the final product that edged over into the early 90's, which I also hear in pearl jam's Ten. Great band, glad to have made this video so I could become more familiar. Welcome to the party Paul thanks for taking the time!
While stationed in Germany in 1991, I saw suede in a small club. I went with some german friends because my American friends didn’t like it. It was great, but terrible. The whole crowd in front was jumping up and down in unison and I was too. But I lost my balance and when I jumped again I was out of sink so while coming down a person in front of me was coming up. The top of her head hit the under side of my jaw and throat. Lost consciousness for a sec, got confused, bit my tongue badly...so I spent 2 hours outside laying on a bus stop bench bleeding and in pain! Great concert! 🤪
"Bernard Butler is incredible guitarist, but he didn't play on this track. The equally amazing Richard Oakes had replaced Bernard when this song was being written." EDIT: Ignore that, I'm a bellend, was thinking of a song from Coming Up. Much love and what-have-you...
Incredible that I stumbled across someone on RUclips teaching this fantastic song, one of Suede’s best. Bernard’s flourishes on acoustic and electric we’re a huge part of the Suede sound in those years - thanks for showing what he instinctively did to those basic few chords to make these early songs so melodic.
90s music before you age me too prematurely 😂. agree with others Bernard Butler is definitely worth a deeper look. His replacement in the band Richard Oakes created some awesome riffs on the Coming Up album too check out The Beautiful Ones
Thanks so much for doing this! The Wild Ones is one of my all-time favourite songs, and I never realised it was so simple when you break it down, as you have done so well here, or I would have learned it 25 years ago when it came out! I've honestly never heard an Emaj and Amaj (OK, Ebmaj and Abmaj) sound so beautiful as they do in this song.
One of the best noodly doop rhythm guitar songs ever! Bernard Butler made everything he played so interesting, never a bland strum. Just found this tutorial... thanks Ryan, your channel is packed with good stuff and fun times.
This was great, thanks for taking the time to post the video. As an unashamed Suede obsessive I would recommend "To the Birds" and "Where the Pigs Don't Fly" for more excellent noodly doops. Sadly Bernard Butler left the band in an acrimonious split in '94 just before I was able to see them live. On a more positive note Bernard plays some great guitar parts on collaborations with Mark Eitzel on his album Mr Ferryman and also with Ben Watt on Hendra and Fever Dream.
Thanks for covering this song. You've absolutely nailed it. If you get a chance, have a listen to their album of b sides and unreleased stuff called "Sci Fi Lullabies", some amazing stuff on there. They recently got back together after a decade or so. Cheers again for doing Suede.
Just played this song & thought 'I wonder if there's a lesson of how to play it on RUclips '. So here I am. Many thanks for this & love your style dude.
Much love from the UK. Big pj fan love all that stuff you do. Suede are in my top 5 bands ever. Check their first 3 albums then the blue hour. Musical perfection. Thanks for your tutorials.
your comment made my day! It's a beautiful song, but SO OFF TOPIC I thought I'd lose 80 subscribers :) (and i was fully ok with it if that's how it went)
@ryanlendt Ryan, I love you for this man, really.. hahah... I can´t believe I´m actually playing this song after at least 20 years listening to it, thanks to you and Jesus only (and Suede of course)!!! hahah... if anytime you come over to Brazil, you have 10 tennis lessons for free with me right away! lol... THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
80s? Album came out '94! Check out animal nitrate from the 1st album from '92. This lesson is top. Im onboard sir. You, Paul Davids and Rick Beato: LEGENDS!
I'm pretty sure right before you hit that a chord, your chords aren't alright. It's hard to explain through a message, but I'm pretty sure those accented chords before the a are going to be e major, then F sharp minor with the open E-strings and the open b string too. Then gmin with the open B and E strings. That's how I've always played it, and it seems like the path of least resistance, so I honestly think that's the way that he plays it. I may be wrong though

That's the best and worst story ever Jason. I hope everyone reads that :)
Suede didn't play Germany until 2 years later, in 1993.
Bernard Butler was / is an incredible guitarist. The songs are basically simple, but he adds all these little touches to them.
i totally agree. I hadn't heard of him before i learned this song
@@RyanLendt you should do my dark Star next :)) ily lessons man :)
@@RyanLendt check out their first 2 albums, the guitar is crazy

Ryan Lendt they were a great band in the early 90s, not so well known in the states though. Their song called Animal nitrate is killer check it out.
so they weren't 80's music...
Ryan Lendt 😄 started early 90s so almost .
What a great find!! wow.
:)
many have tried to teach me and many have failed, you make this so easy thank you. 80's, Chris Cornell ........... ha ha !
I would have bet dollars that was an 80's song! :)

thank you NJF - no i do not
ok, thanks for the response. great video.
Best just to pick up the chords, and get a 'feel' for it? He plays it differently each time.
This is a great Suede song, you should try Animal Nitrate, the song! that is as its a top song :)
thanks for the suggestion Rikki :)

90s music, not 80s
in the words of frank drebbin: I realize that... now...
Yep, released in 1994 on Dog Man Star. A fantastic year for British music :-)
