I could never get over the architecture mistake between the two west wing rooms on the ground floor of the RPD, where the waiting room has a window to talk through to the room where you find Marvin, but in the room you find Marvin in is about 2-3 feet higher in elevation, yet the other side of that window is level
Cool video! I wanna touch on the 'BACKTRACKING' thing,, in a lot of ways this was the true essence of survival horror and original RE.... it was in those moments when I was comletely lost in a room far away from a save point when I encountered a key item and something clicked and I knew which room I had to go back to, not the exact location but roughly..... I'd be on caution with low ammo knowing there was a licker or another enemy blocking the route back to that room, stopping and thinking about alternate routes or going back another way to collect a weaopn I couldn't get earlier so I could get past and reach the goel... THIS was the essence of RE! something which never happens anymore after completing the game hundreds of times and memorizing everything..... the backtracking is a neccesary evil and not at all annoying! we can get this feeling back with randomisers etc but man I wish I could erase my memory and play this game for the first time again!
I liked the idea of less zombies in the first one, cause the virus was still located only in the mansion and lab, so it was only the few people involved in the mansion who became zombies. RE2 is when the virus spread to Raccoon City, which in turn would cause a much higher uptick in zombies. Both still great games!
Very nice review. I was actually a bit disappointed when I first played RE2 (on its release day). It felt too short because I beat it on the evening I got it. It was too easy, had too much ammo and health, was too action and gore focused and had less horror atmosphere, it made no sense to have these kind of riddles in a police station and it didnt let you play in the city (just the very beginning) like the previews had promised. My favorite is still RE1 but I later came to appreciate RE2 more when I looked more on the great aspects of it.
RE2 (original) is definitely too easy and generous with ammo/health. Decrease supplies by half and up the enemy count to be more similar to the streets in the beginning of the A scenarios and you have an easily improved game.
3 was originally supposed to be an expansion of RE2 - the companion piece that allows you to roam the city. I assume that was their intention until it was scaled up to a titled release. RE2 was definitely easier, but the ammo supply is deceptive - you can easily run dry if you're not careful. It's really only easier for vets who know what to expect with the classical RE games.
Hey there, haven't seen a nice organized RE analysis like this in a while! I am also working on RE content on my other channel and got inspired to finish it because of you! You should tackle all the classic series like this! Anyways good luck with your content
You say the alligator is all flash and no substance but try playing it as little kid and not noticing the tank to use to kill it. My first few play thrus this was a boss for me because I had to shoot it until it ran away
The algorithm doesn't seem to be very nice to you, your content quality deserves more views/ subscriptions that you have. Keep it up and thanks for the content!
I don't think RE2make really does a good job making RE2 1998 obsolete, unlike the original REmake. I like thinking of it more like an extra C/D scenario with new puzzles and challenges.
I don't think RE2 Remake is better than OG RE2, because it lacks the Zapping System (The most important and distinctive feature from the original game). I personally recommend to play both versions of RE2, because each one has their own unic features contrary to RE1 vs RE1 Remake, Remake of RE1 completly erased/replaced OG RE1.
just completed claire a on normal and it was honestly piss easy. and i am really not that great at resident evil. i know there are some versions out there that only give you 2 ribbons instead of 3, maybe those are also more difficult in other aspects i dont know.

Thank you for your detailed analysis on one of my favorite games.

IMO, level design is 90% of any RE game. Which is why RE8 disappointed me a bit.

Interesting idea to mainly stick to the level design. I enjoyed it.

RE2 1998, my personal favorite game of all time.
Love this! Very different from the 1,000 analysis videos and your voice is not annoying either! Definitely comming back for more!

This was favorite game for a long time but I think RE2MAKE replaces it for me, it is the only game I ever took the time to platinum

Good shit man, interesting video

I find fixt camera angles super disorienting even with tank controls. I don't mind tank controls with ots games like re4.
It was the part when you pointed out how some ppl swear DS is the only "hard" game ever made 👌🏽🤣
Garbage
