Wow! Perfectly describes many of the problems we are having. I appreciate the insight that is being contributed by the community. It really helps reveal more of the big picture!
I appreciate the theory of developing individuals within the company. The reality that this may work in a mid to large size company. It is an uphill battle to implement this within a small company where the owner wears many hats and not enough time in the day for everyone and everything. My husband and I have been desperately trying to teach the few people that we have a lean, continuous improvement mindset and it’s almost tragic how few people have the ability to understand these simple concepts, and even fewer that can implement it. I agree that most people require intense development to learn, to think, to see waste, to analyze movement, to plan ahead. We are passionate about Lean but are definitely struggling to build a team around it.
Lean is hard work that makes work easy, at the beginning it is very much an uphill battle, no one will say it is easy. I encourage you both to persevere through stages like this.
Incredible insight from Filipe! I would love to see a discussion panel including Paul, Ryan, Michael from Yellow Tools and the other leads to see what their thoughts are. Do they agree, or disagree?
Agree @skicrave1. @ryan I think filepe makes a good point that there are some aspects of the approach at fastcap and seating matters that still remain elusive. I think a video showing the process of creating an improvement from inception to completion would be handy. Some improvements like kaizan foam may be able to be achieved by one person during their morning time. Other improvements may be bigger / technical and require more teamwork. Would be good to see what's going on under the hood including the conversations with leaders about problems/solutions, then how resources are allocated and how that all ties in with the morning rituals. Thanks!
Excellent!
well said!
Standardise the lean process
