"how to waste your time to make a tool to kill your drill battery while slowly diging holes in only softest terrain possible (and better pray if you encounter a stone) - the movie"
One thing that I noticed that you may not have. He drilled into already softened dirt. If he were to try to dig into hard dirt that thing wouldn't work so well
look closely, he's digging in a mound of dirt, not the ground. So it's probably very loose to being with. I doubt that thing would make a hole in the actual ground without a lot of work. But good good idea!
it works on the ground you already dug before filming. but about real ground with roots and rocks in? you snap your wrist and break your drill. even petrol powered augers struggle with rocks.
The idea is brilliant, however it looked like a freshly dug hole were the mud had been put back.......can it be tested more thoroughly near a tree? see how it handles roots / stones etc
Mark Rowley: The hole looks like it was pre-dug, and then they put the dirt back in the hole to make it seem like the drill auger worked great. Pause right after the job was completed.
For hard ground use a smaller 125mm blade, as the drill will not have enough torque. drill multiple holes in a group to make a big one. It will not work in clay and rocky soil, as the rocks will jam and stall the blade, and the clay will just clog it up and stick to it stopping it from cutting.
I can see the construction problem of the tool, the edge of blade is slicing first, it is not like drill bit do it, wrong construction, doctor DS, please make an upgrade and bend tool that center of blade dig first, then you dont need to rotate drill while digging, it will go down by itself, english is not my language.
That was great. Now, make one up that can bore down through at least 8 feet, with 12 feet being better, of heavy creek mud riddled with old broken tree limbs, pieces of broken concrete and plenty of other detritus from over 150 plus years of history including commercial tug and barge operations, warves and a Civil War encampment area with fortified artillery batteries and possibly a graveyard, so I can set new pilings for an existing pier? Can I expect to see it by Tuesday? Thanks, in advance... (Just kidding, but just this morning I was thinking of a way to do something similar to yours to expedite my project. You've helped my thought process, so thanks! )
Looks good until you try that in my yard. You might get about a foot before you hit the shale, clay, and boulders. Cool ideal for good soil. I think so would have had my hole dug with my post hole digger in the time it too to make this though.
(One mistake, disk it is necessary to weld teeths in the opposite direction that didn't take stones and didn't cut them, and that split of a disk is possible.)*
Geo Matrix 1 second ago I just used this method to drill a 7" x 48" inch deep hole to install a 14 ft pole for security cameras. It works great! If you're concerned about cutting your leg you probably don't need to be using ANY type of power tools to begin with...
Principalmente se for usar o disco do vídeo.
lol I love the show and how he shows people how to do neat inexpensive tricks with things they might already have. but this does seem too simple to work. and that hole was definitely already pre-dug lmao. I'm betting you will need s smaller blade or a larger tool that's more ergonomic and used with both hands.
Pause the video right after he completes the digger. You will see that the hole has already been dug before. You can see the outline where the saw blade started. Now I don't know if I want to make one.
The soil looked pre-dug. I've used petrol purpose built motor and augers many times. And they don't even dig nice like that, especially if you hit rock!
It takes two hours to go a foot and a half in the ground where I’m at In SA Texas. I’m at using a jackhammer two hours per hole on average for post holes.
Option A: Buy a $35 saw blade and $1000 in tools. Spend all day making a tool so you can then go dig holes tomorrow. Option B: Rent a hole digger from Home Depot for $60 and be finished the same afternoon.
Good for planting many holes...
This guy must get through dozens of power cables on his angle grinder. I am also impressed with how he checks the sharpness of the edge he just ground with his hand.
It's actually dangerous. I've watched some documentary video about those rotating blades grass trimmers and sometimes a blade hits a rock on the ground just to detach and fly to breach the someone's skull.
@5:21 you can clearly see that the hole had been pre-dug and then filled in again. In other words, he faked it.
Great video. Congrats from Argentina
Looks like the hole was already dug out at 5:22 and filled back in so you could use this tool to remove dirt with ease.
Maybe its a tilled garden, this would be great for transplanting tomato, peppers, squash. Any plant with a large root ball.
That was predug soil, so it was really soft for the auger to work. Near the bottom was firmer soil that's why it kept jumping around.
looks like the ground was dug up already then put back in
Ya noticed that two.
seen a bunch of people make this comment .. it's good dirt.. maybe it's already an established garden bed ?
AH NO I can see the circle outline before he starts to dig.
click bait, all liessssss
"how to waste your time to make a tool to kill your drill battery while slowly diging holes in only softest terrain possible (and better pray if you encounter a stone) - the movie"
Cool. Its handy to have a tool like that if you want to dig a hole in a pile of planting soil you just dropped
One thing that I noticed that you may not have. He drilled into already softened dirt. If he were to try to dig into hard dirt that thing wouldn't work so well
Great idea, successful execution, but the "like" goes to the Jack Daniels t-shirt... 👌

fc3sbob RUclips detective??
Clever. I like ideas that don't benefit the big companies.
Ignore the jealous comments.

5:22 pre-drilled hole.
you digged previous in the ground, that is the reason why the soil is soft i recommend you keep using the tool that you used at first, a shovel
Dug
That was some soft ass dirt I want to see you do that in some hard dirt like Vegas desert
The soil looked loose to begin with? But, good job. I can weld and fab some, but looks a little dangerous, lol.
*Cut all theeth with grinder & weld a long piece of metal as bucket..*
Yes nice soft ground, try it on hard ground.
Great idea for POROUS SOIL. I doubt it’s going to work well or at all in CLAY or HARDPAN
it works on the ground you already dug before filming. but about real ground with roots and rocks in? you snap your wrist and break your drill. even petrol powered augers struggle with rocks.
A great idea...all environment lovers should popularise this idea and encourage young people to plant trees to make their city, roads beautiful..

Oo
I’ve been doing this for a couple of years now using a 4 1/2 inch blade to plant flowers and bulbs with. It’s fast and effective for landscaping.
It doesn't work, so it easily hangs on roots and rocks in the ground.
Maybe it works without the teeth.
For hard ground use a smaller 125mm blade, as the drill will not have enough torque. drill multiple holes in a group to make a big one. It will not work in clay and rocky soil, as the rocks will jam and stall the blade, and the clay will just clog it up and stick to it stopping it from cutting.
Cool idea! I used a Dewalt 12" blade to make a disk brake on a mini bike me and my son built. They are tough and work well.
Billy; the teeth will also serve as parking brake.
Can only be used for soft soil not stony
I can see the construction problem of the tool, the edge of blade is slicing first, it is not like drill bit do it, wrong construction, doctor DS, please make an upgrade and bend tool that center of blade dig first, then you dont need to rotate drill while digging, it will go down by itself, english is not my language. Basshead Thats what I was thinking would have happened in my yard too. Clay and rocks.
The best drill ever made! Awesome ingenuity man..
Please tell me you're sarcastic
Jaap Hoogendijk That's my personal opinion of course. I have had great luck with all Makita tools. DeWalt is my 2nd favorite tools.
Excuse me I thought you were talking about the tool made in the video. I agree with you on the drill.
Jaap Hoogendijk I was mostly talking about the drill. I'd say this guy probably saw a video on this same idea for the tool.
An A for ingenuity but definitely not the go-to for post holes.
(One mistake, disk it is necessary to weld teeths in the opposite direction that didn't take stones and didn't cut them, and that split of a disk is possible.)*
I wish I had soil like yours.
no u dont with out some rocks your post would eventually become loose trust and come out me i know lol :(
Somebody noticed the hole was pre dug then filled back in. I watched it again and yes it was pre dug!

I could've dug that out faster with my bare hands in that pre dug soil...film again in compacted untouched soil...
ááááááw1q
It's a good start, now weld 3-4 of them together spiralling up and you have an auger.
Great video! I wonder if they can be used to make irrigation ditches.
Stop hating on this tool. It's a genius idea if there are no rocks, roots and if the ground is already loosened up 😅
Good idea Doctor! I need a tool that 😉👍
Yoooo i just can't help but smirk how cool this is!! XD

That hole looked dug and back filled to make the trinket look functional.
Fi,m x
I might try this one. Just a suggestion get rid of the royalty free music loop
Its 2-in-1 = double beneficial
Drilling+ also use to pulling out mud
Great 👍
Thanks
Now try it in dirt that has not been dug up already
Great for spiral slicing your leg into a holiday ham! Actually, I would try it, in soft soil.
That's bloody clever mate.
Isn't this just an auger?
Nice work bro.keep it up
Great, and if you dont want to get injured, use an auger.
Lol
I could have been done with the work by the time you got done building this 😂😂😂
sure looks to me that the dirt area he used was dug already then filled back in , just sayin
lol I love the show and how he shows people how to do neat inexpensive tricks with things they might already have. but this does seem too simple to work. and that hole was definitely already pre-dug lmao. nice auger DIY..good job my friend
works really well..... on pre tilled dirt
Augers are an spiral screw ,sadly the concept hasn't caught on ,great drill killer ,even struggling in lose dirt
Not bad for diy. It's a pancake auger bit. Usually they have a lot more turns than just want, but if it works good enough for you then great.

Yri Grushko
Very good manuval Idea god bless you
Earth was already dug out . 5% engineering the drill wobble and shale
The soil looked pre-dug. I've used petrol purpose built motor and augers many times. And they don't even dig nice like that, especially if you hit rock!
It would be worth a try with an electric drill. I could see problems with roots and rocks though.
your soil is so loose and good it's like sand, but try this in muddy soil, won't work as seen in video
Try it on some hard dirt !
It takes two hours to go a foot and a half in the ground where I’m at In SA Texas. I’m at using a jackhammer two hours per hole on average for post holes.

It works in loose dirt
Good for planting shrubs and young trees etc But can't these be bought? I don't have all those tools to make one.
You prepared that hole before you started.. we are not stupid man.. but good job... you need a stronger engine
He need sono an hospital
Are you related to Sherlock Holmes?
DUUUUDDDE! I knew it was simple, you nailed it.
Worst thing you can say to us is, "don't try this at home" my cutoff blade cut right thru that old sawblade of mine..
Will build one on my channel too. Awesome
Try it on a hole that hasn’t been dugout yet?

Not working on tight soil
Very good idea, thanks for posting. 👍👍👍
Would like to see it work against clay under the dirt
I didn't think it would work very well, but I am wrong. Great job!!
Diggs well in lose soil but forget trying that in anything else.
Big applause 👏👏👏👏🙋
While drilling, praying/hoping for not hitting rock or tree root.
This guy must get through dozens of power cables on his angle grinder.
I am also impressed with how he checks the sharpness of the edge he just ground with his hand.
This battery drill will die after 3 holes of 1 meter
Looks like he's cleaning out a hole that was previously dug?
5:21 seguro que el pozo no estaba hecho??? 😂😂😂salud don fraude!🍻

Or just buy/rent an auger...

Now imagine hitting a sprinkler line or a buried electrical line
Pre-dug hole 5:21 nice try though
