Whats the insurance like on it?
I bought mine and it was delivered to me just before Xmas 2008. I'm very happy with it but I don't think I would buy another one unless I had just done a long trip in it and rediscovered the joy of a decent tourer.
Guys, I owned a 370z, it was paid off fast after working hard and I had the opportunity to get a used GTR so I jumped on it!!! If you work hard and plan right, you can get anything you want!!! Never give up on the dream.

Hard work only pays if you work the right job. You can break your back pushing carts at the local super market out in the cold, come home sick and tired and still be able to barely afford rent and have clothes from the 80s on your back. You can get paid the biggest bucks and work an easy position as long as you know the right people. Work smart not hard. Have connections with the right people and then you might have a shot at reaching the stars as long as you take the initiative before others beat you to the punch.

its funny to read the others comments... I think that the 350z really is afordable! To be affordable doesnt mean to be cheap, it means realistic. Seriously, if you work hard (doing almost any job) you can afford a 350z. its realistic.
PasyWRX yeah, but buying it is not the problem, but insuring It and fuel costs... And It's difficult to save enough money working at weekends and being a student. One day I will invest because It's the only way I see to progress in a country in which people gets paid €650 a month

Yes the 350z is affordable, it guess people just don't like to fix the repairs etc when it's needed.
That's why I'm so glad I went to a technical college for mechanic technology so I can fix my own shit.
LOL, guess what... the 350z is a VERY VERY reliable car. The biggest fix i had done was 10 dollar brush fix for the electric motor for my window. I bought the car with 60k kilometers. Now have 150k kilometers on the counter. So WHAT FIXING ???? It's a japanese car.. not some crap car made in another country that needs fixing.

It all comes down to where you live. And we're talking about normal 1st world countries here. Yes you can save up for a couple of months and buy one even from a minimum wage job if you live on bread and water. In some countries you'll be spending the car's price every year on insurance. Also fuel is literally 5x the price in most of Europe compared to the US. You can calculate with 5x of what you pay with a 3.5l engine.
When you think about it if you don't have a high level really good paying job in those countries nothing more than a Civic is really affordable especially if you're young. It all comes down to your governments regulations regarding cars. It's not the purchase price that's unrealistic, it's owning a car like this at a young age in most of Europe.
My 2004 was the first brand new car I ever bought and I still have it. It was single turbo on a stock block for 10 years and just recently finished a build where it is now built internals and a new AAM twin turbo system. I love my Z. They are awesome cars.

After watching this video last year I went and bought a 2006 350z for 4200. It is everything you said and more, I use it daily to go to work and went travelling as well. It is practical indeed but not exactly easy to drive, I used to race in my youth so I have a bit of experience in car control but I doubt most people would be able to drive it without the traction control. Despite that and the 24 mpg on average this is an exceptional car way better than my previous drive ( Cayman 2004) which, albeit more refined, felt detached and boring compared to the Zed. Thank you for this video!
I wonder people saying it burns fuel are they using 87 octane. You need to use 93 thats what the car is tuned for i have no trouble with fuel had bmw 325i burns about the same

143K miles on my 350z and everything still going strong. Water pump went out, and about to have to replace clutch (doing flywheel since labor is the same either way too)... Everything else is doing great although it's probably lost some efficiency since 2004. I'm super lucky to be nearby a Z specialty Mechanic who is incredible (shoutout to Wireworks Performance in Fort Worth, TX). It is a really cool car but after you drive it for a long time you will want wider tires and wheel upgrade, brakes, suspension, motordyne intake and exhaust mods, seats, clutch and flywheel, tune, and potentially some cosmetics or interior work. I'd even go as far as to say some aero might help a bit at really high speeds and if you want to go for a grand tourer some sound insulation material would be nice because it's got a lot of road noise. Be ready to replace the trunk shocks every 2 years they go out fast. If you have someone who is really good with them they are a lot of fun to have if you like to custom build out your own car. As is for stock is pretty good. My first car was a BMW 3 series and that was a better built car but an 03 is too low on power. I miss the engineering and quality of that car as well as the daily qualities and the space and the trunk and the BMWness. That doesn't make me any less glad I have my 350z now. I hope to keep the Z and keep it as a pure car and fully built one day.

The 350z is actually my love interest in car types, not only for the power it’s mostly for the design. Like, mostly the door handles when I was younger that were looking for me really cool. And seemed different from all cars I knew when I was little :3
I honestly think affordability is very personal. As a 20 year old buying a sports car isn't impossible. Pricing at 7k-ish on the road is affordable for most students who are studying in 1st world countries. This car is priced at 80k$ in where I live and minimal wedge is 5$ an hour. Affordability is depending on where you live and not your age. This is base on my opinion. cheers

I bought my 350z GT as my first car for 13k couple months back and i absolutely love it, It's not just a car it's a lifestyle.
This video is what convinced me to buy a 350z, Has been my pride and joy since, it burns a little oil which you have to keep an eye on but the driving experience is something else.

Dude, thats the UK. In Germany we pay just about the same prices as you in France for a 350Z - 10k € and more.
Of course you can import a UK car to mainland europe (even easier for you because you have the eurotunnel in your country!), but there are some problems. #1 being the steering wheel on the wrong side.
The other... well, theres a reason used cars are so cheap in the UK. The salty and rainy climate makes them rust much faster than cars in mainland europe.
A neighbour recently got a old BMW from the UK - it had moss growing on it. No matter how hard you neglect your car in France/Germany, its very rare to see that. :D

18 years old, 2006 Nissan 350Z, $800 a year for insurance. My motor is partly built making about 320hp. The 350Z with a few good upgrades to the motor/exhaust/wheels/ suspension/ then you got a pretty quick rocket.
I bought a 2003 G35 Coupe when I was 21 a decade ago and had a blast with it. It was terrifying to drive in the snow, but otherwise it was a lot of fun. Drove it cross country, met my now wife while I had it, and cruised around with her a lot. We never got the Skyline in the US, and while the G35 is technically the Skyline outside the US, it was my consolation for not being able to own an R34 GTST.

350Z is such an underrated car, I own an 08 manual and it's great, I actually had it for a few years, so I paid over 9Gs, and with the minor mods, I actually beat and keep up with most V8s. I'm shooting for a turbo, there going for like 8500 dollars and up, this will put my Z in a Skyline category. I recommend it with internals.

Yea no, those turbos are actually powerful some of them, but you can't adjust them, also you have to rig up to many hoses and tubes and need to engineer the installation your self because of the parts that do not fit your car regardless of what they say. So I'll be patient, no choice.

If I do choose the turbo route, I'm gonna fabricate my own kit.

Peirre Gale - If you're capable and are mechanically inclined in doing so, I say go for gold dude, If you're already installing internals, that alone will make your car handle a beating also it will make it that it can handle turbos that are off the chain, with psi levels upward to 30 on up without blowing the motor, if your not getting a turbo, make sure you get the tune so you can rev it past 8000 rpm without a problem.
The 350z is beautiful. There's nothing I don't live about them. They're insurance loopholes too. Far cheaper to insure than they should be. I know a local lad who was 22 with one who told me that.
And the exhaust note I marmite, but to me it's amazing. A GTR does walk all over them, but I still think these are far nicer to look at :)

ThirteenMatt I had the choice to get a 370 chose the 350 because it feels so much more connected to the road and way more raw even if it is slower it's about the experience

@xxBOUNTYxxHUNTER yes and as a 20 year old he would have 3 years no claims if he hasnt had any incidents, if he has insured it on a multi car policy with his parents cars that also brings down your insurance, if u say u only do low mileage a year ur insurance goes lower, various other things such as where the car is kept (locked garage).

If you listen closely he's describing a stock GTR all the way up to the price and HP, not this particular one. So saying IT has 660hp is misleading.

I had an '03 G35 6MT Sport and absolutely loved it. While the G35 was slightly detuned vs the 350Z it addressed several of the Z's disadvantages discussed in this video. The G35 has usable back seats, good visibility and a much nicer interior. I agree with Alex that the Z is good looking car but I think the G looks much better. In the U.S. anyway, either can be difficult to find that haven't been trashed but there are some out there and they represent a terrific value, cheap to buy, cheap to run and tons of fun.

unless you're always hanging out with more than 1 person and the other people don't have a car it sucks, but for the most part 2 seats is cool. I haven't had any times where I wanted four seats in my car instead of two
Pros:
You never get picked to drive the group of friends around.
Cons:
Not much space behind the seat.
Glove boxes are behind the seat. So you have to give the cop a disclaimer before getting your insurance papers
You only can bring one person in your car
If the trunk is full, then the only place for you bag is the front seat
Passengers can not recline seat far, so road trips are horrible for them
There are many other pros, but not related to the 2 seats. Such as the speed and braking of this car.

brendan bartlett I disagree. The 350z is faster, handles better, and is lighter. Anyone who says they're basically the same car obviously hasn't driven one.
That being said it's also a lot less practical. More expensive insurance and it only had two seats
brendan bartlett same platform, they are similar, but the Z handles much nimbler than G35, and rightfully so because Z is a thorough bred sports car where as the G35 is a entry-level luxury coupé

brendan bartlett if you want to actually drive a sports car, buy a Z. if you want to look like you drive a sports car, buy a G35.
Depending on the engine, the G and Z are the same speed. The G tends to pull on the Z a little in the high miles. The Z handles SLIGHTLY better than the G. And I mean slightly is that its rear doesn't spin out at 6k+ RPMS. The Z and G are the same weight, surprisingly.
The G is also safer to drive safety rating wise. If you roll over in a Z, you can die very fast. The only issue with the G is if you're taller than 5'10" you can hit your head on the top of the windshield/roof area if you're rear ended.
Other than that, they're exact replicas except one was used as the basis of the R35 GTR.

I own a 350Z and they weigh 3200 lbs and unless you are
pushing the car, they get 25 - 28 mpg with a manual shift.
I have been driving one for 12 years now. The older DE engine has a LOT
of bottom end torque. Much more then my newer 2014 Infiniti Q60S. Both my cars have,
of course, manual 6 speed's. As for drifting, be careful which differential you have.
My 350 has a standard non limited slip differential which allows
it to hang on to curves better when you punch it as opposed to
my Infiniti with it's limited slip differential which likes to
swing it's butt out if you punch it in a hard turn.
As for drifting, my 1990 5.0L Mustang sedan (LX 5.0L)
with it's locking differential will drift far better then either the
350Z or my Infiniti Q60S.You just touch the pedal with the wheel turned and it will
either fish tail or do a 360 with no effort at all. Old Mustangs like mine are real nose heavy.
It weighs the exact same thing as my 350Z but is physically a bit smaller.
