    The more I listen to folks teaching firearms stuff, the more I realize each person needs to experiment with everything to find what works for them.

      Yep. Everyone loves to talk about the sling being all the way forward for better supported shooting but I just find it gets in the way more often than it helps support shooting.
      So for me I keep it right next to the receiver.

    Great advice brother. As a combat vet/former SSG;US Army,I'm still trying to get some of the best equipment for my rifle and a few more rifles. I've been doing armed security since I left the Army. My city is pretty dangerous.! I was curious about the accessories on your rifle. Like the name brand and model of said products. And what brand/model rifle is that?

    Hey brother, great video, thank you. Quick question on slings for SBR's, would you still recommend a 2 point sling given the shorter barrel length?

    • @CoDMW2lvr
      @CoDMW2lvr 2 года назад +2

      I know you didn’t ask me but, I mount all my slings at the stock/brace and beginning of the handguard. It lets me really cinch it down and it be out of the way. I run it the same for my 16”,12.5”,10.3”,and 8.5”

      Hey Cory, for me personally every opportunity I have to make my sling work for me, I’ll take it. So in this case, yes….. I would still run a two point.

    My number 1 issue is shooting in my kit. Plate carrier straps I find myself in a canted position always, or trying to shoot off the straps which changes my cheek placement especially while twisting/turning.
    Any tips on overcoming this? Something I should do differently

    • @JohnRedacted
      @JohnRedacted 2 года назад +1

      try adjusting the tension of your shoulder straps , if not it may be an issue of too wide of a front plate bag

      Keep training in your gear, and after each mission or field op do a AAR(AFTER ACTION REVIEW), and discuss what you did right and what could improve on,you will find what works best for you,always think of small improvements that help you given your mission end goals, thats all we did, we all would find lil ways here and there that worked along the way specific to each of us

    Good thoughts!
    This below as an additional thought not aimed at this channel nor content …
    … imagine if the rifle grip’s angle was adjustable as well (like the buttstock’s length and cheek rests if applicable).
    Look at the “uncomfortable” twisted angle of the wrist at 1:36 … uncomfortable, especially if held at extended length of time.
    Imagine if the grip could also be adjusted in steps forward to let’s say 90°? Point is, manufacturers basically are forcing a one angle fits all … a one angle fits all situations. I know, aftermarket grips etc, etc. But it shouldn’t be that difficult nor expensive to come up with a perfect adjustable angle grip, should it?

    • @onpsxmember
      @onpsxmember 2 года назад

      That wouldn't be that easy cause the grip has to hold in a detent spring for the safety. So one portion would have to hold down that while your angle is adjustable but rock solid once you chose it. There is some grip that is advertised to change form to your hand and then can be tightened to hold it. The other is cost and marketability. You choose the grip angle and size you want and you got what you need in almost all situations. They're simple to make. Some may offer to change the back angle with inserts. Tons of grips out there. If you feel strongly about your adjustable grip and can't find what you're looking for, make one, spend tons of money on a patent and sell your product.

    I had a British soldier teach me a c-clamp hold. I believe though it was for close range shooting, CQB. I could be mistaken.

    • @onpsxmember
      @onpsxmember 2 года назад

      It's usually favoured to reduce muzzle climb with rapid strings of fire. That's why some shooters reach very far forward to mitigate the rise. It's all situation dependent if it makes any sense. If your support arm is quite stretched forward, there is less stability even while pulling back into the shoulder. The arm is the strongest close to a 90° bend. The further your arm is forward, the longer it takes to get to the controls with that hand. Some may also prefer that grip based on their accessories they have to work with like using pressure switches for IR/white light. Imo it changes so often based on a barricade or being prone, moving, distance, how gassed you are. Have some point/nub, something sticking out to have the same grip when the circumstances allow it to have some consistency.

    Does the top of the buttstock (heel) rest on the collarbone?

    • @dstonebrook1993
      @dstonebrook1993 2 года назад

      If possible, that is where I find the best management. Of course that is saying it is at least mid collarbone.

      Dave is sharp, cause he's in focus while the background further away isn't. That can be wanted blur/depth blur as filter/effect to put the focus on the person being filmed. My knowledge in that area is limited though.

    • @TacticalHyve

      Techniques, not tactics. The majority of techniques he shared are common to reducing recoil for any body type, i.e. use of a sling, buttstock placement, squaring up (or some will shrug their shoulder forward).
