      Just like biblical and historical evidence proves that jesus and his apostles were vegatarians biblical and historical evidence also proves that the trinity, atonement, original sin and hell are very late misinterpretations and are not supported by the early creed hence its not a part of Christianity I pray that Allah swt revives Christianity both inside and out preserves and protects it and makes its massage be witnessed by all people but at the right moment, place and time
      The secred text of the Bible says ye shall know them by their fruits

      Same thing in Joshua 5, The commander of the army of the Lord, accepts Joshua’s worship, unlike an angel who would’ve denied it. That’s Jesus, the COMMANDER of the army of the Lord, who put down his sword and his glory to live and die for us!

    “You can’t take the good in Christianity without taking Christianity”. So good. Whenever it is about our cause with a Jesus theming, it doesn’t work. The center, the motivation, the core needs to be always a relationship with Jesus and caring about things because he does not the other way around. That results in fruit naturally. Fruit that is good for us and everyone else around us!

    • @claymcdermott718
      @claymcdermott718 Год назад

      I disagree with his take here. Not the quote you’ve put up, I agree with that. But he seems to argue that if you submit your politics to Christianity, and don’t force some sort of divorce, then you secretly just want Jesus on your team for a pre-existing political goal. Of course, his politics are so representative of a certain strain of *relatively* theologically conservative baptist churches, that I cannot but suspect that IP is unaware of the fact that unconsciously his religion has formed his politics. The question he hasn’t asked is why his religion has so much in common with Postwar Classically Liberal/ NeoLiberal American Conservatism.

    • @JLanalyzed
      @JLanalyzed Год назад +2

      @@claymcdermott718 I see where you are coming from. I think the broader point for me would be that regardless of our political leanings, when we submit our politics to Jesus, our priority is no longer the political kingdom or our political party, but actually God's kingdom. My "team" isn't my "political affiliation + Jesus" with my political opponents as my enemies. Instead, Jesus gets to be the focus, and we can unify as the Church under his priorities. Some of those obviously do have a political intersection. I don't think we should divorce ourselves from making a difference in the world at all. I do think, however, that culture on both sides of the political aisle make an idol of the political world, and that the Bible doesn't neatly fit into either political archetype completely. If we try to contort God into a mascot for our previous politics instead of approaching politics with a loving, set-apart, kingdom mindset, we run into trouble both in our theology and our politics. We should be Christians and members of the Body of Christ as our primary identity and the driving force before anything else, and that will hopefully keep our priorities right in every other area.
      God desires for us to take care of orphans and widows and the poor and needy, he desires for us to stand for justice and be a voice for the voiceless, he desires for us to protect the sanctity of life, he desires for us to live at peace with everyone as much as possible, to be in unity with the rest of the Body, and to love and pray for our enemies. Eating at the table with our political opponents is already countercultural, and not allowing ourselves to be boxed into extreme camps is even more countercultural. We won't always get it right, but I think if we truly keep Jesus first, we will interact with politics differently amidst a polarized, reactionary, vengeful, earth-focused world.

Now I do not think we can make people Christians by government force, however that does not change the fact that all nations should be Christian nations in the sense that the secular government does have a duty to serve and obey God. ROP is not just bad storytelling (it is that too) but it is an act of vandalism by those who actually hate Tolkien, his values, and his philosophy and who wish to co-opt it in the service of their warped political ideology.

    What I will say is that label Christian Nationalism is more often than not a negative moniker ascribed to traditional Christians who live in America. Also, we have a rich Christian history in this nation from the beginning so valuing that history also immediately gets you labeled as a CN.

    I never thought I'd see the day these two met. I've been following and supporting Mike apmost since he first started and Matt for a few less, but for whatever reason they were almost in separate worlds in my head. It's a bit jarring for some reason, like seeing Han Solo chatting in Bilbo Baggins' living room 😅. A welcome crossover nonetheless. 👍

    Tolkien's wrote multiple versions of Galadriel as his concept of her changed greatly over time. Most of us just know one or maybe two. For example, he wrote the following:
    “Galadriel was the greatest of the Noldor, except Fëanor maybe […] Her mother-name was Nerwen (‘man-maiden’), and she grew to be tall beyond the measure even of the women of the Noldor; she was strong of body, mind, and will, a match for both the loremasters and the athletes of the Eldar in the days of their youth.
    "Galadriel was a Sindarin name given to (and accepted by) her after her coming to Beleriand, meaning 'lady of the golden crown' or 'coronal', referring to the braids of her golden hair (braided high)." "She was then of amazon disposition and bound up her hair as a crown when taking part in athletic feats."
    Tolkien created (or sub-created as he would say) such a ridiculous scope of material for Lord of the Rings and the thousands of years of legendarium surrounding it...and he was constantly rethinking and revising right up until his death...Even after spending extensive time studying LOTR, the Silmarillion, etc, I have been forced to realize how little most of us know about the breadth of what Tolkien wrote, much less, additional versions as he continually revised and retconned .
    Highly recommend Corey Olsen for a scholarly approach to Tolkien and Tolkien adaptations, for example:

    I'm really trying hard to understand where this guy is coming from on Christian "nationalism". What does he mean by that word?
    For example, I do not believe in having a secular government. I believe that if we are to have a gov, it should bow it's knee to Christ as king, it should glorify that which the Church teaches is good and criminalize that which the Church teaches is evil. Why do I believe this? Because the Catechism of the Catholic Church tells me to.
    Most people would define this as "Christian nationalism".
    So what does Mr. Jones propose our government do? Remain secular? Not adopt Catholic social teaching as legality? Become libertarian? He seems to be pushing hard against the concept of the government adopting a legal structure oriented towards the proper worship of God...

    Intrinsic Christianity is "I can't NOT follow Christ. He directs my life. He is integral to my being"
    I was filled with the Holy Spirit in my 40s and was changed from the inside almost without effort. I cannot conceive of living without the direction and submission to the will of God in my life. A church community is edifying, but I follow Christ because He orders my steps. My life is immensely better than it has ever been.

    I have deeply enjoyed this exchange. It has been deeply informative and edifying. I will possibly push back on one thing however. Perhaps its because our faith has such a heavy rationalistic tendency, but in conjunction with thought and reason, feelings, emotions, and mystical encounters are valid modes of experiencing and knowing the Truth of Christ. They certainly helped me overcome my doubting Thomas mind.

    30:52 - I'm 40, and there definitely was a more anarchic/anti-authority zeitgeist.
    1:01:00 - I see more and more as I watch The Lord of the Rings, having read the books but not remembering much about them, that Sam, Gandalf, and Aragorn are the chief "heroes" (though, there truly are no "heroes" in LotR). Frodo's role can't be overlooked, but he would have failed if it were left to his own power. When he couldn't walk, Sam carried him. Footprints in the sand... There is no hero except Jesus: Aragorn, the unknown king, Gandalf, the one of power who died and rose again, and Sam, the comforter who carried Frodo when he couldn't walk.

    In regard to the part of “did Jesus lie” here is an answer I’ve heard from Joe Heschmeyer on this passage. When Christ’s ‘brothers ask him if he’s going to the feast and he says no and shows up later this was NOT a lie. They asked him this question in the context of whether he’d GO to the party meaning participate. If your friend asks you to go to a drug ridden party and you say no, then show up later with the police you did not “go” to the party. You busted the party. This passage isn’t entirely analogous to my example but can be explained in a similar manner. Hope you see this Matt. God bless!
