    Trains = greater throughput than any belt can give you. So one railway is like compressing several belts into one. Trains can have multiple freight wagons and can be loaded/unloaded on both sides.

    I'm approaching 400 hours played. I take breaks for a few months but always come back and start a new factory with my friend. I like that you tell people to take their time, because that is super important to grasp the game. It took me a really long time to figure out rail signals to have many trains on one track safely, even though it is the simplest thing for me now.
    I've heard that people tend to fall off the game once you have to start piping liquids, but that was never really difficult for me. I like puzzling things and that's what a some of the gameplay is like.. Scanning the factory to make better use of space, and weaving one just one more belt thru the spaghetti. One can also go the opposite route and instead of compact, go for efficient. It all depends on what you want!
    Even with nearly 400 hours in, there are some systems I haven't played with that much, nuclear being one of them. Since I'm always playing with my friend we have naturally specialized. I do trains and refineries, he does nuclear and radar/power grid. Highly recommended to play with someone who you cooperate seamlessly with.
    All great tips and a fun video!

    Just playing a few games and only progressing to purple science and restarting can be very helpful. You get to redo your factory and you can see how far you have come in the game. This lets you review what you want to do and gives you some time to think about what you want to do next.

      Overscaling has nothing to do with growth. Overscaling is actually hindering the growth of the factory. Cause overscaled things usually don't get finished or serve no purpose.

      The Factory must grow!

    It's there a resource for how to split up factories? Like whick production to group and which ones to separate?
    Also, what's on the ground if your factories? I love the look of it and want to do the same.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  2 месяца назад +2

      I'm using Bricks on some parts and Reinforced Concrete on other parts. The light gray stuff on the minimap is Brick, the Reinforced Concrete is very dark gray.
      And I know only video guides about how to set up whole factories, but these are usually longer Let's Play Series. I'll see what I can personally cook up, but until then I'd still warmly recommend the cheatsheet I have linked in the description. The information there can be used to group things up nicely in an effective way.
      Hope this helps o/

    Hey man, really enjoyed this. I got the game the other day and so far the main thing that puzzles me is layout. I'm very particular when it comes to organization in these types of games, and ''spaghetti'' drives me insane. The problem is that I have no idea where I should be placing things and the general size of said blocks. I want to go for some kind of modular approach with enough space in between for other things.

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  2 месяца назад +2

      My recommendation here: Look for a spot with as few cliffs as possible (or turn them off completely) and start on an area with MASSIVE amounts of free space.
      Tolerate what you built and didn't like until you hit robot technology. Once you got construction robots you can CTRL + X on an entire block and order it to be rebuilt somewhere else. So you can organize your bits afterwards if you have the desire to.
      So just experiment and progress, eventually the game gives you all the tools to reorganize yourself. Hope this helps o/

    I am about 10h into this game and questions.... for you
    1. Are the resources endless in the game? I am sure not in one spot, though. And is it necessary in the game to chase resources?
    2. Is a way to dump all the stuff I carry in my backpack?
    3. Is there a way to dump it into a chest at once? Not like taking single items one by one.
    Thanks

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  2 месяца назад +1

      Hey there!
      1.) You can choose to have endless resources. Or you can configure how rich/scarce resource patches are. It's all at the beginning of a session though, can't be changed afterwards anymore.
      2.) Yes. Set up a chest, put the stuff in you don't need anymore. Then take your gun, hold your cursor on the chest and hold down SHIFT+Spacebar. Stuffs gone =)
      3.) Shift+Left Click and Ctrl+Left click should do the trick.
      Hope this helped o/

    Thank you. You would not believe how unhelpful many people are with explaining splitters (and the intersection trick). I just started the game. Like I’m not going to watch an hour video for what should be a few minute demonstration and explanation. For people who preach about efficiency in factorio they don’t have any teaching comprehension. To me it means they either don’t really understand it either or are looking to waste your time.

    "avoid overscaling"
    wrong. consider what you think you need, then multiply by 10, that's what you think is good now. Then multiply by 10 again, and we're closer to what you probably need. But it's most likely to be more.
    Also, producing full belt is using game optimizations. You lose performances if you use belt that are not compacted

    • @Ic0nGaming
      @Ic0nGaming  Месяц назад

      It ain't overscaling if it's exactly what you need. If you are just guessing what you need you're most likely shooting a wrong direction.
      If you already know Factorio you surely can plan ahead like this, but when I was starting out it actively blocked me from playing when I tried to plan as far ahead as the content creators I watched.
      And when I finally came back and just built my first rocket it was done with two red belts of iron and copper and thats it.
      If you feel like building big, go for it. But if you don't you don't need to. We are all wired differently.

    • @konkerouf
      @konkerouf Месяц назад

      @@Ic0nGaming thats not what you need "at the moment", but at some point you will expand (because you have to) and you'll be very happy to not get your circuit production become as dry as a grandma pussy, giving you time to overscale it again.
      Always overscale basic resources (plates, circuits ...)
