@ matteogsys! Tinning is critical if you want strength and holding power especially in on site gutter joints etc. I have found zero failure in joints scince. As far as not being able to resolder a joint a day after I'm sorry I have re sweated and soldered a 30 year old gutter joint. Firstly scotchbrite the joint until clean, wipe and hit it with soldering flux. You may need to repeat the process but once it's all clean and oxidisation is removed you are good to go.

Above my oriel windows and cornice, I have flat metal roofs, but it isn't copper. It's rusty color now. But it is flat seam like this. And some of it has rusted out in the cornice roof. I suppose the process will be the same in the initial install. Any tips on the procedure to fix that? It may come to me just putting a patch over the affected area. This isn't standard rolled roofing or shingle roofing. Not many will even recognize a roof like this from 1868.

I think I know what you are saying...when I used to paint motorcycles (only did a dozen back in the day), I know it is a lot harder to paint without a $500 gun and not in a booth. Painting outside with a used $100 gun takes a lot more skill. Come fix my 1868 roof...

Why do Americans always say sah-der? It’s solder.
