I grew up without a father. My father had a similar mindset to Cam and Nick Cannon and thought that if he just paid child support, it was ok not to be involved in my life. My mom tried to force a relationship between us but he did not want a relationship with us. I will never forget when I saw my classmates celebrating Father’s Day in elementary school but I couldn’t because my father was not in my life. The only time I heard from him is when my mom and grandma told him to call me. When I became a teenager, I had to start reaching out to him because he would make excuses that he was busy and the “ phone works both ways “. I only saw him ONCE in person because my grandma set it up for us to meet. Although he lived states away, he never made the effort to come see me. I also will never forget when I overheard my mom talking to him on the phone and he said he couldn’t wait until I turned 18 so that he wouldn’t have to pay child support. My father was like Will Smith’s father in the Fresh Prince of Belair. I use to cry every-time I watched Will break down crying asking how come his father didn’t want me ? That’s how I felt when I was a kid. The last time I talked to him is when I was in college. He told me he would give me a call once he got off work but he never called me. I was always the one calling him. I was tired of our one sided relationship. Not having a father in my life had a horrible impact on me growing up. I blamed myself for my father not being there. All of my friends had fathers but me. I had low self esteem, low confidence, and I suffered from anxiety and depression since I was 15. I didn’t know I had anxiety and depression though until my doctor started that I was suffering from anxiety and depression and I realized I have been suffering since I was 15. I use to attract dusty men who just wanted to use me. I was verbally abused and cheated on by my ex and I was even SA’d back in college. I had to go to therapy after that and I finally found a good man who just proposed to me a couple of days ago. Also my grandparents and mom helped keep me grounded and I graduated highschool a year early, graduated college with my degree, and I have my own career. It still hurts me a little not having father who wanted to be in my life but I made something of myself without him. I will make sure that my future child will have a good father.

My dad has always been a provider and in the household, my parents have been married for almost 30 years. He has always provided for the household but I would never give him father of the year award. Being a provider doesn't matter as much when your dad barely knows/cares what's going on in your life. It's important for fathers to provide, be in the household, AND be present with their kids.

The CHILD Remembers if DAD was there at the game, cheerleading, and any other normal activity that PARENTS show up for. This shows the child that the parents care.
My dad was in the military so he was away, not due to anything he did specifically however, that meant missing birthdays, school functions, plays, sports games and holidays. A phone is not a replacement, money is not a replacement.

If theyee in the home, they see children as a burden and they may be physically there but their brain is a thousand miles away. One thing about men, they never own up to how terribly they behave. They see them as trophies representing their greatness, rather than recognizing that these children will eventually have their own paths to follow. They might believe that because they are good, their children will automatically be good as well. However, they often fail to understand that children need proper guidance and support to develop into well-rounded individuals, and that they will eventually need to navigate life on their own.
It's a narcissistic form of love, not unconditional. It's based on the idea, "I love you because you are a reflection of me," rather than seeing the child as an individual with their own identity and needs.

These men never had active dads so they don’t know what that looks like. When I was in HS my dad went to all my sisters tennis matches, my o to er sisters track meets and my soccer games. He also helped me study for my SATs AND the MCAT. He drove all of us to college when we started and helped set up our dorm rooms. And he was a fountain of great advice and even career connections. It takes a lot to be an active parent. Moms and Dads jobs are full time 24/7.

I grew up without a father. My father had a similar mindset to Cam and Nick Cannon and thought that if he just paid child support, it was ok not to be involved in my life. My mom tried to force a relationship between us but he did not want a relationship with us. I will never forget when I saw my classmates celebrating Father’s Day in elementary school but I couldn’t because my father was not in my life. The only time I heard from him is when my mom and grandma told him to call me. When I became a teenager, I had to start reaching out to him because he would make excuses that he was busy and the “ phone works both ways “. I only saw him ONCE in person because my grandma set it up for us to meet. Although he lived states away, he never made the effort to come see me. I also will never forget when I overheard my mom talking to him on the phone and he said he couldn’t wait until I turned 18 so that he wouldn’t have to pay child support. My father was like Will Smith’s father in the Fresh Prince of Belair. I use to cry every-time I watched Will break down crying asking how come his father didn’t want me ? That’s how I felt when I was a kid. The last time I talked to him is when I was in college. He told me he would give me a call once he got off work but he never called me. I was always the one calling him. I was tired of our one sided relationship. Not having a father in my life had a horrible impact on me growing up. I blamed myself for my father not being there. All of my friends had fathers but me. I had low self esteem, low confidence, and I suffered from anxiety and depression since I was 15. I didn’t know I had anxiety and depression though until my doctor started that I was suffering from anxiety and depression and I realized I have been suffering since I was 15. I use to attract dusty men who just wanted to use me. I was verbally abused and cheated on by my ex and I was even SA’d back in college. I had to go to therapy after that and I finally found a good man who just proposed to me a couple of days ago. Also my grandparents and mom helped keep me grounded and I graduated highschool a year early, graduated college with my degree, and I have my own career. It still hurts me a little not having father who wanted to be in my life but I made something of myself without him. I will make sure that my future child will have a good father.

One thing about men, they never own up to how terribly they behave. These men never had active dads so they don’t know what that looks like. When I was in HS my dad went to all my sisters tennis matches, my o to er sisters track meets and my soccer games. He also helped me study for my SATs AND the MCAT. He drove all of us to college when we started and helped set up our dorm rooms. And he was a fountain of great advice and even career connections. It takes a lot to be an active parent. Moms and Dads jobs are full time 24/7.
