Not many people had the opportunity I had with Sooper Dooper Looper. It is so good at diminishing that fear without giving anyone anything too intense or scary looking. Loops are pretty lame to me after I rode it. Most parks go straight into multiple loops on a scary roller coaster.

Speaking of drums, I’m on the spectrum (level one currently, but I was level two when I was younger) and when I was six years old, almost seven my family bought me a drum in Canada on a trip to Niagara Falls. I remember banging on it for most of the trip (mostly when I was too stressed out or there was too much noise).
My parents thought that I was banging on it for attention or just to be annoying, but that was actually not the case. Looking back I’m pretty sure that it was a stim.
I was actually diagnosed the first time just after my two-year checkup and again at the age of nineteen-and-a-half back in the mid-1990s but they they don’t understand about stims because they have never read any books or articles about autism (They think it is too boring and depressing to read about even though my sister and I are both on the spectrum) and they haven’t seen any videos about it because they have an internet connection that is too slow for RUclips to work. FaceTime works on their connection sometimes but just barely and it tends to cut out a lot.
In the 1970s and 1990s doctors didn’t really explain about stims and therefore neither the person who is autistic nor any neurotypical family members understand it (without additional research) and it tends to often be dismissed as attention-seeking behavior or simple misbehavior. This is why starting in my late teens and young adult years I would mask around them leading to the inevitable response of “You don’t look autistic!”., or sometimes even “Stop faking it!”. That’s one of the biggest downsides of masking in my experience. My sister sometimes also encounters this when she masks leading to her masking less and then being criticized for not masking enough.

I only got over my fear of looping coasters about 2 days ago. It was my half sister's 8th birthday and we took a day out to Alton Towers (a theme park in England). Unfortunately, she was two short to go on the vast majority of rides and her mum (my stepmum) had a fear of rollercoasters, so it left: me, my step sister, and my Dad. I was feeling funny about going on the rides, but my Dad (who is a big kid at heart) persuaded me to go on the rides and I had the time of my life. Once rides I was fritten to death of became my favorurite rides (Nemesis Reborn, Galactica/Air & Rita).

I got over mine by going on the biggest rollercoaster near me and six flags great adventure. I was scared to death the whole time, but once I was on and then the ride was over, I wasn't afraid anymore. My daughter has a lot of fears and anxieties that we help her with every day

I just got diagnosed with Level 1 ASD last friday , july 19 and my psychologist was the one who gave me the diagnosis . She said high functioning autism is the informal way of diagnosing patients which is what other doctors use in other states to diagnose patients but the DSM-5 That she used was listed from either Level 1 , 2 , 3 Autism . I live in west tennessee so the process was me seeing my doctor in Sept 7 2023 for him to send the referal to my psychologist . My first appointment with my phycologist was the autism screening on Feb 27 2024 , followed by the actual assessment ( 2nd appointment ) on June 19 2024 & finally a month later the last appointment was the results / overview . Autism family what are your opinions ?

Rollercoasters can on the outside looking quite scary to look at and of course the speed they go at
However I recall from one rollercoaster 🎢 in December 2019 in London at Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park the nerves quickly go away and the adrenaline takes over when the coaster goes down and accelerates although the loops can make your head spin a bit.
And by the time you end the ride it can either end with a overload or with a sore vocal cords but feeling overwhelmingly good
Good job guys overcoming that fear of rollercoasters

I also experience some knee pain off and on. Being on the spectrum (and a toe walker) I wonder if toe walking can cause this.
In my case the discomfort is fairly mild and I can usually deal with it with ice packs, heating pads, or some over the counter ibuprofen capsules when other things don’t work.

    • @zakadams762

It's possible, I used to have a lot of issues with my walking and running preferences. I ended up really hurting my feet over time but I was barefoot running because I was fixated on it for ideological and pride reasons. I think too it helped me deal with stress emotionally, it was a controlled way to beat myself up and feel like I was overcoming. My feet have a lot of problems with cramping and I regret expressing my anxiety that way. I don't think anyone could have stopped me and I would have hated braces to correct my posture.

One time my friend tricked me and told me this particular roller coaster didn’t go upside down. Well we were on the ride and I seen the loop coming and omg I was so mad at her!!!! I was so scared and there was nothing I could do about it. And my friend just kept laughing at me! Anyways, that experience did end up breaking my fear of loop coasters . I was so happy! After being mad of course lol. Now I’m 36 years old and Imm scared again lol. Haha 🤣

    So Alistair! Regarding the absolutely brilliant discovery of slapping hands on body parts to create; Sound, Vibration, other Mysteries! And by the Way;
I don't do Roller coasters either! However, I DID discover as you, that the hands can create sounds using the body that are spectacular! First Secret Insight; Place flattened Palm; Palms down on; Thighs, four stomach regions, and Chest as well.
Secret Two! Do Not lift or disconnect palms from Body part you have chosen.
Secret Three: Tap intensity or striking volume or rhythm
Of hands-united fingers! Not seperated fingers can be extremely light touch or increasingly more intensity.
Forth Secret; Wear headphones and Listen to the unimaginable differences, according to
What body part the fingers strike! My FAV body region is lower stomach and both
Sides extending to above the hips. You will be astounded. This IS my nitetime STEMMING! I DO
    THIS before falling asleep!
