Its funny for youtube to recommend this video 4 years later after world cup. Quick reminder for others, is that this isn't the same truck ole cleet has today. If you go back to the videos when they were moving out of the shop in clearwater, this truck was a cut up shell sitting outside that was sold. The current mullet truck was either off having the chassis being built or being painted if i remember right.

Beauty only a mother can love! Dont get me wrong, This era El Camino is not that ugly in terms of 80's body styling. But in my eye, the 1970 el camino with the dual round horizontal headlights is the best variant second to the 1971 where they had just one large round light on each side. Mid to late 60's are nice too. But it WOULD be a shame to cut up any of those early years. So I think the one he has is just fine. They are plentiful so taking one off the road permanently is not really a loss.

NO JETS, it has rods you swap out for the secondary to adjust fuel amount and timing.
The quadrajet is WAY underated. They say they suck instead of saying they don't understand them.
I met this old school black dude racing in Philly in the early 2k's.I mumbled something like hopefully it doesn't have a quadra-junk to my friend when I was checking his Regal out. Well boy did he school me lol. He was a little pissed but we still ended up friends till he recently passed away. He was a carb tuning God and properly tuned like you said they really run. I'd run one over a Holley 750cfm and under. It's funny how much money we took from fool's thinking our stuff was slow because it had a quadrajet carb on it. They'd never look any further as soon as we popped the air cleaner and assumed shit was stock.
There is a big block version you can use If you need more flow.
I have built many Big Blocks with Quadra junks on them they're good carburetors if you know what you're doing way better than any POS Holly carburetor those things were so finicky they were amazing when they were tuned properly but that was only for about 2 days before it went Way Out Of Tune again nothing will touch an Edelbrock but in the end all of those are obsolete fuel injection has become so simple it's just easier to go with something like a Holley bolt on
