Got a Samsung Chromebook a year ago for $180, $20 for headphones, and i use a wireless mouse i prefer over touch pad. Is used constantly and have not had a single problem. Is fast, reliable, and i love that i no longer worry about malware and viruses. I use for web surfing, streaming, and social media. Using ublock the best ad blocker for chrome. Thanks for your videos.
I have a 10.6" Samsung Chromebook, and I'm loving it more and more. I don't use it except for when I'm out of the house, which happens a lot now that I have grandkids to visit. This video contained good information, however the music got very tiring and distracting--to the point that I began to read on other pages I had open. With music, especially this type of Dubstep, which is fun to listen to (making it more distracting) Your voice slowly became the background noise while the music became the focal point. Maybe I'm the only one, but just for old musicians like me, could you stop the music completely after your intro is over so your primary information is unaccompanied? I think it would make for a much more enriching experience for everyone, whether they realize it or now. Thank you, and keep up the good stuff. Oh, one last thought. If doing what I ask make you uncomfortable, maybe you could take some public speaking classes at the local community college, or something online. Just a suggestion, and you can delete me and get on with it.
T3R3Z1 PYROP3 ButtRoastO251 - Thank you T3R3Z1 PYROP3, and ButRoastO251, you have nothing to add. Nothing at all. Why write something like that which tells everyone on RUclips that you are a classless little boy who needs to be sent to bed without any supper. You know it's better to be silent and thought a fool instead of opening ones mouth and removing all doubt.
You are literally the only person to answer my question in video. Everyone says its a good laptop to browse the web but no one ever says how well it does that with large amounts of tabs
I'm actually watching this on the HP Chromebook 14" XD Couldn't be happier. really, these computers are what I need atm. I got sick and tired of dealing with Windows 8.1. Every time I worked to fix a problem on that thing, another one seemed to pop up a few days later. Pretty soon, I wasn't even able to connect to a Wi-Fi network barely at all. I know it was the PC, because everyone else in my house were able to connect to the network easily. I rolled back from the Windows 10 Technical Preview yesterday morning, and reverted to 8.1, because it was unstable. Little did I know, the conversion corrupted the drivers needed for the Keyboard and touch pad, rendering the PC pretty much useless. (It had a touch screen, but it didn't help much) And I couldn't connect to the internet at all, so I couldn't find a way to download the drivers needed to fix the computer. Toshiba tech support wanted me to pay them 179 dollars to come out and fix it, so I just said fuck that noise, and decided to go to my local Walmart and picked up this bad boy that very same morning for around $230. And I couldn't be happier.
+Vishvak Seenichamy no, I actually bought the thing about a year ago at Walmart (big mistake) its the Toshiba Satellite A5-123, might need to double check that. but anyway, it came preinstalled with Windows 8.1
Vishvak Seenichamy Shouldn't have happened, but it did. Tends to be a pattern with windows. BTW, I got it to work by doing a factory data reset. It automatically re downloaded the basic drivers the pc needed, then I updated them. I have since upgraded to the official Windows 10 OS, and is working fine. If anything, I now have two good machines to use.
Purchased a Chromebook January 2014, and would never want to go back to anything else... Love that it is not updating every time I turn it on, love that it comes on as quickly as opening the cover. As a Senior who primarily just navigates from one browser to the other I love how simple and enjoyable the whole process is. I enjoy streaming video on it and have gotten rid of Cable. I would buy again for sure.... Wish I had found this video when I was thinking about buying a Chromebook, great job!
People who hate on chromebooks expect too much! Like yes it’s not a gaming laptop but it’s such a nice option for a casual laptop, not just for schools
my chromebook has quad core processor and it runs perfect for 170 dollars. it is spill resistant and scratch resistant. it is hd screen 11.6. the speakers the lowest volume is too loud sometimes.
yes because you get a full size keyboard and it is cheaper faster better. you get free stuff. you get free google docs updates for life and the chromebook can't slow down over time. comment back if you question my friend
Another difference between Chromebooks and PCs is you can leave them on, like a tablet or phone. They don't use much power when the cover is closed. Even if you shut them down and reboot them each time, it only takes a few seconds, not minutes like a PC. And, you don't have to bother with backing up files. If you break your Chromebook, just buy a new one and log on. Everything is there, since it's all stored in the cloud. The SD drive is a good option for taking all your music with you so you can play it when you're not on the internet. I just popped for the Pixel 2. What a dream, if you've got the bucks. It's all I take with me when I travel. It's fast as lightning, has a beautiful display and the keyboard and trackpad are second to none. And, it won't be long before I can run all the Android apps. What's not to like?
Thank you so much. My Dad is looking for a new laptop for his new online business (he really only needs an internet browser for it) and this helped us decided that the Chromebook was right for him. Thanks
I've been running on my Chromebook for about two years. I love it. I attend Michigan State University and I take it to class with me every day and can use it all day long in class and between class. Makes taking notes a breeze. Since Google Docs are cloud based and saved every time you stop typing so it the machine battery dies, you can simply log into any computer to access your gmail account and pick up right where you left off. No more transferring files to flashdrives then losing them! I'm a tech guy and run servers for websites and apps and I have to say, these machines are awesome! I'm running on a LTE version of the Chromebook so if I'm not on WIFI I can still access the internet to continue my work. Makes staying connected while traveling awesome since I don't have to hunt for WIFI!

I'm a programmer and I own 10 systems, mostly laptops. I just bought a Gazelle Professional laptop from System76 and as much as I love it, it gets virtually ignored due to my Asus Chromebook C300. Call me crazy, but thanks to Chromebook developer mode I get a really good Ubuntu experience out of it as well as ChromeOS (which is also a Linux OS). It's light, portable, thin and very powerful for what I use it for.
I got an acer chromebook when I was 12 on Christmas and I still use it to this day. I just love it to death, they really hold up compared to other computers I own. This is coming from someone who owns a high end imac.
Since I have a more powerful desktop PC, my Chromebook has been fantastic for school. Any other laptop would've really been too expensive. I could always type something on Docs and save it on Drive before getting home to my PC to fix formatting on Word to print/turn in. Extremely happy with my Chromebook.
Don't underestimate the power of the first gen chromebooks. I'm using a C710 and can easily get 15 fps on CS:GO. 15 FPS isn't that great, but it's playable and you only spent $200 on a solid laptop.
Thank you so much for this very helpful video. I have taken your advice and am using a new Samsung Chromebook and couldn't be happier. I've been using Windows since its first version and loved it until I purchased this new machine for $160 when Office Max went out of business here. I still have several Windows machines, but 90% of the time I use the Chromebook. You did mention how it doesn't slow down with time, but you might underline the incomparable boot-up speed of the Chromebook over Windows. Keep up the good work.
Great vid - thanks for the info! Wish I had found your channel before I bought my Chromebook because I spent A LOT of time researching whether to get one and you answered my questions in a lot shorter time. Using the ACER Chromebook 11 that I ordered off Amazon about a month ago and LOVE IT!!
i just bought one yesterday and i was really ready to exchange it for something else until i watched this video. I feel like now i should give it a try. Thanks you got my like!
By the end of the intro I decided to buy a chrome book, I'm using a surface for my everyday computing right now, mostly college stuff, and it's just not getting it done anymore. Thanks for this definitely going to be investing in a chrome book within the next couple weeks here. Thanks
I have a Asus Chromebox ($159) which I am very pleased with. (It replaced my MacMini.) I find this littlle gem of a computer to be more than adequate for my computing needs. Thank you this fine presentation. For someone who has no need for nor wishes to pay for computer features that I will never use my Chromebox fits me to a tee.
***** Wish I could answer your questions but haven't run my Chromebox offline offline. ZD Net has an article (What a Chromebook can do offline ) that may be of help.
This is my third Chromebook. The first one was a Samsung 11, 4 gig memory. It was stolen. The second one my homeowner's insurance mostly paid for, an HP 14, 4 gig memory. The hard drive,(or mother board) failed. I'm trying to fix it. HP wanted $250 shipping included for the repair. I'd be better off buying a new one. They replaced the screen on warranty when it developed a horizontal line in the display. This one I'm on is a Toshiba 2 gig memory I got for $119 used. I've got a Windows computer but the Chromebook has spoiled me with its speed, no extra cost for virus protection, no need for backup, etc. Love the seven second boot up.
I have my HP Pavilion 14 inch Chromebook for over 2 years now and I haven't had any problems with it. It is still as fast as when I bought it and I use it every day. I also take it everywhere with me and I'm still loving it. So yes Chromebooks are really good for the price range they are sold at. (my opinion, you may experience differently)
Thank you! Excellent video indeed! My Chromebook has become my favorite since I bought it a couple of months ago. Since 1990 I've used everything from WEBTV to MSNTV-Plus to a few Androids...and all of the Windows since Pro 2000 and right up to Windows 10. HOWEVER, I was rather skeptical about the Chromebook until I finally bought one - and I instantly fell in love with it! So, since a couple of months ago I've been using just my Chromebook and have been avoiding all the other devices that also served me very well indeed. But the Chromebook is just too good, too smooth to run and without any of the occasional headaches associated with the other OS's, specifically Windows. And I don't have to bother with the Windows updates, either! Thank you, again.
Great video countdown. Finally someone who explains the Chromebook in understandable English. Thank you. I am going onto Amazon to see what they have in Chromebooks.
Yea if it wasn't for Apple Garageband I'd have got a Chromebook by now. Sticking with my Mac Pro for that one reason though. At least I can still use Chrome, and Google services such as Drive, Gmail, Contacts, Play Music, etc etc
Agreed Barry Ward The battery on my Toshiba laptop died. I was about to replace it when my daughter explained the Chromebooks to me. After MUCH research I have decided that FOR ME, the Chromebook is the way to go.
Barry Ward I narrowed it down to the Toshiba 13 inch or the Acer 15 inch. Both introduced last month and have high reviews. The Dell is OUT. I had a Dell years ago...never again. I'll keep you posted, but from what I have discovered so far...I won't be missing my Windows 7 Toshiba anytime soon. Right down to the expense of virus protection. What a GREAT machine.
John Hufnagel to be fair, i never needed virus protection as a Mac owner (and I've been one for a good many years) but of course there's that premium cost. When I bought mine, Chromebooks weren't available so weren't an option :D
Good video! I learned a lot and you presented it very well! You're the type of guy people ask advice on technology, I can tell. I went through a few terrible videos (some were just way too long) before I found yours. Thanks again!
Would a crombook be good for college? I am not looking for a laptop to play games, i just want it to take notes in class, do power points, make essays and so. Please someone respond my class stars on the 25th
The #1 reason for me is that I've never been happier computing since switching to a Chromebook a few years ago. The thought of switching back to Windows for daily computing makes my skin crawl. When using Windows the battle against viruses, adware, spyware, etc was tiresome. You would be fine for a while, and suddenly, there all the BS starts again with weird stuff happening, getting slow, etc. Chromebooks are trouble free computing that I just love. The only tasks I use my Windows for nowadays is for organizing my pictures and editing video .... and that's once every few months, at most. I would recommend a Chromebook with at least 4g RAM and 32g storage.
If you can, get one with 4GB of RAM. It's well worth the price. I recommend Acer's C720 or C740. I have the C720, and it works perfectly. I've even configured it to boot to a USB device so I can run Linux when I need more offline functionality.
VERY HELPFUL AND INFORMATIVE FOR AN OLD LADY. I DO HACE AN ACER CHROMEBOOK C72OP THAT I DIDNT REALIZE WHAT I WAS BUYING. I HAVE BEEN WATCHNG THESE YOU TUBE VIDEOS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT IT AND AM REALLY LIKING IT MORE AND MORE AS I LEARN. THANKS
Just bought my chromebook today, i didnt know anything about chromebooks but from researching i found out that its pretty much a i pad but with keyboards and a little better speakers...
alright, all you count down the top 10 reasons to buy a Chromebook and I'll count down the top 10 reasons why you shouldn't make your background music louder than your commentary!
ShadeSlayer1911 what can you do on a Windows computer other then use Microsoft office and PC game? on Chromebooks Google docs and Google sheets and Googles version of PowerPoint work completely offline. and PC gaming??? well 90℅ of people don't PC game. they have Xbox or ps4..
The Chromebook for all internet...Then additionally a cheap or second hand Windows computer always disconnected from internet, so no more updating and with the superfluous antivirus removed (this will make it much lighter and speedier) could be the ideal solution.
If all you want to do is to browse the internet then Chromebooks are OK. But most of them have got rubbish screens unless you buy an expensive one. Most of them even expensive ones do not have ultra high definition screens like Macbooks now have and expensive Windows laptops do. Chromebook screens are also a lot darker than the screens on other laptops. Maybe they will be a lot better in a few more years.
Today I bought myself a chromebook. I haven't picked it up yet from my local Walmart, but I have already found one flaw with these chromebooks. You have to buy an external disk drive if you have to install software say if you were going to hook up a printer or anything of the like. That's possibly extra money down the drain that some people can't spend. Yeah chromebooks are great at everything else, but if you need to hook up like I said a printer & such, that's the only downside nobody tells you about. Yes we do still live in the digital age where installing any software for an extra digital machine to a computer requires a disk drive.
Tbh I knew about chromebooks and tried one at one of my friends. It was ok. Reminded me of a netbook basically. BUT that was a while back. I came across a Acer R13 and thought it was really great. Even better with the Google Play / Android app beta update. As my R13 is a flip model I find it do handy. I sold my ipad2 as I just stopped using it. Obviously it serves my needs for video, browsing and the odd app here & there. It certainly doesn't replace my gaming PC, but i didn't buy it for that purpose. Chromebooks gets my vote for sure, I love my Acer R13. Thanks for vid :-) subbed
THIS VIDEO WAS SUPERB I JUST PURCHASE A CHROME BOOK BY ACCIDENT I HAD KNOW IDEA IT WAS THIS EXCLUSIVE I WAS ABOUT TO GIVE IT A WAY.. BUT AFTER WATCHING THIS VIDEO/ I'LL RECONSIDER... I NEED TO INSTALL A PRINTER TO MY CHROME BOOK AND I HAD THE HARDEST TIME .
At school we used chomebooks and even with tons of people using the wifi they didn't slow down, I'm gonna get a chromebook for mainly school work since we use Google drive A LOT and other things and that's why I plan to get a chromebook
Hey sir! Great review. I'm actually picking up a Chromebook soon for a second laptop for writing. I think a Chromebook is the perfect laptop to for writing. I have a Mac and a Windows Desktop so if I ever need horsepower, I have access to it. I find that with a Chromebook (I had one for a week), I was more focused to get text on paper. Much like a typewriter, I needed a dedicated writing device. Thanks for again for your thoughts :)
I usually download huge quantities of videos. Instead of using the Chromebook to store them, I use a 128GB Flash drive. When I wannt to watch movies, I use the Flash Drive.
I had a Lenovo Thinkpad and it was in my backpack which was stolen, I bought another windows 10 laptops (Acer) I ended up getting a Chromebook for a great price, I liked it so much I got rid of my windows laptop and now use my Chromebook for everything and since I have an Android phone and they go hand in hand. I'll type up my to-do list on my Chromebook and it's insanely available on my phone
Basically what this video is telling us is that if you don't want to do literally anything whatsoever on a computer except google things to buy a chromebook.
i know this is an old video but NOW the price is even better. i bought a refurbished samsung for 59$ from a reputable website! the price is basically unbeatable for a great laptop. my everyday driver at this point, i even got rid of my desktop because i simply didnt need it with this guy! seriously, if you dont need it for gaming or something else like that get a chromebook!
I didn't like Chrome cause it runs slow after 50 tabs but I disabled extensions/reinstalled and it's decent. Now, I'm In love with chrome cause of the Chrome API :D . Chrome is solid , it's never crashed before.
+Khail McQueen I do and a lot of people that are developers. I create programs that open up different links and perform different actions on each link. I do web development and programing.
Great vid! So comprehensive in your analysis, and I am totally SOLD on them now! Reason #4 would have been the only one preventing me from joining the Chromebook camp. I just got a 2-in1 laptop a month ago, and I might have opted for a Chromebook instead, had I seen this during my research. These will probably only continue to improve in their specs, while retaining their value pricing, so maybe I'll be picking one up in the future. Thanks for putting together this vid...excellent work, and I am now a subscriber! 😀
I was just about to spew out a long comment raging over "channels with lesser quality content than you have more subs and they don't deserve it" but I was just trying to say that I think you make great content and that you deserve to have the subscriptions. I'd wish RUclips had more content like yours. It's great that you figured how to optimise the picture for the video. I'm also glad that you read your comments 😀.
Just a got Chromebook for a friend coming off of Windows; still in the learning curve but your video was informative and helpful. Like others have suggested, get rid of the music; it's annoying! just do what you do best; give intelligent, easy to understand information for others to make an informed decision!

Great video, told me everything I needed to know. Subscribed.
Love the seven second boot up.
im on a chromebook right now :D
ⓍTicci TinaⓍ Awesome!
ⓍTicci TinaⓍ Same here.
tim1014 How is it? I have been looking at this one, just torn what kind of Chromebook i want to buy
Even Matre Larsen Acer or samsung is good.
I like hp better
I was wondering if buying getting a chromebook would benefit me or not, and this video definitely made me want to get one for school. 👍👍
John Hufnagel I'll be interested to see how you get on :)
That was one of the best descriptions of Chromebooks and the Chrome OS I have see on RUclips. Good job.
now i have much more about chromebooks maybe im going to switch to chromebook
I just bought a Samsung for $200. So far, it's wonderful! I hated Windows 10. So much confusing nonsense. This chromebook is great!
You have a melodic voice. Solid review
Good video! I learned a lot and you presented it very well! You're the type of guy people ask advice on technology, I can tell. I went through a few terrible videos (some were just way too long) before I found yours. Thanks again!
great video and i really like your presentation style, V. calming and intellectual. Best of luck in the industry :) !
Nice clear review - just paid 185 GBP (about 250$) for Toshiba 2nd generation Chromebook - billiant!
Would a crombook be good for college?
I am not looking for a laptop to play games, i just want it to take notes in class, do power points, make essays and so.
Please someone respond my class stars on the 25th
Yes they are very battery efficient too
The #1 reason for me is that I've never been happier computing since switching to a Chromebook a few years ago.
You can still plug in iPod chargers and stuff like that in the side right? Plz reply?
It has USB ports on the side so yes you could charge a device but the chrome books don't have anyway to manage the music on the iPod.
K thx bro
Yea bro.I am doing it right now. It will only charge and transfer photos. Nothing else.
You can transfer some media just can't use itunes. External hdds, webcams, ect all that works
Casey lawton lol @ iTunes
If your sick of ads on RUclips or any website go into the chrome appstore and download AdBlock!
THANKS
good for students?
Yeah
Perfect for students. It has everything a student needs
Definitely. My classroom has 15 of them! We use them to type our essays, take tests and study! I TOTALLY reccomend it. (i know im late.. Sorry. 😂)
oiooooqw
Jasmine Smith hi, can you use word/powerpoint without internet? 😕
Hey dude, you're an awesome RUclipsr, and I just wanted to say keep up the good work.
Great review! Quick question. Can you take notes or write documents offline with a chromebook? Any help appreciated.
Absolutely! As long as you have google docs, which is free.
+Kenta Akitaka Thanks, Kenta. Are you happy with your Chromebook? Which one do you have?
Yes, drive syncs all or most of your files offline and then when you reconnect the will be updated in drive
Yes,drive syncs your files to the chromebook for offline editing
+Raman Job I actually don't have my Chromebook yet, I got most of my info online.
What are your 10 reasons?
Awesome video! Thank you for simplifying it for people like me. I really enjoyed it!
Chrome OS is shit. I'd rather purchase a summary execution than a Chromebook.
Very concise and informative video!! I have a 15 inch chromebook. No regrets! Great job!!
What about using a chromebook offline?
ShadeSlayer1911 what can you do on a Windows computer other then use Microsoft office and PC game? on Chromebooks Google docs and Google sheets and Googles version of PowerPoint work completely offline. and PC gaming??? well 90℅ of people don't PC game. they have Xbox or ps4..
Mason Maseda im so triggered
That is not true at all A LOT more than 10% of fucking people play on pc
Sly wanna bet? cause pc gamers make up about 10 percent of all gamers... find a link to prove me wrong. i dare you

Good job !
Just bought my first Chromebook today. Love it. Thanks for the info.
The Chromebook for all internet...Then additionally a cheap or second hand Windows computer always disconnected from internet, so no more updating and with the superfluous antivirus removed (this will make it much lighter and speedier) could be the ideal solution.
does he have a soul?
***** sorry, I wasn't thinking
What does that mean?
LabelMeWeird he's just looking blankly
Oh..he kinda looks creepy..
he looks much smarter than I and I value that this dude should be some consultor for google he talks fine
USB port? Print? Word program?
Thanks man! Looking for a new laptop for my mom and this review was very helpful!
your video was awesome.. thanks for all the information
I got my refurbished Samsung Chromebook over a year ago for $180 on Groupon. Absolutely love it. Probably the best investment I've ever made. Awesome!
Thanks for this dude! Great vid!
I'm going to show my mom, because I'm doing research on chrome books so I can get one for Christmas!
Love your videos! Great content! Keep up the good work!
Gotta love how this kid praises Chromebooks yet has not Chromebook in site
M DeAngelo what are u watching? He had it in his hand at the very beginning
I usually download huge quantities of videos. Instead of using the Chromebook to store them, I use a 128GB Flash drive. When I wannt to watch movies, I use the Flash Drive.
thanks for putting this video together. very informative. I'm going to check out your other videos
Can you use Spotify on it?
thanks man ! you are awesome and the video super helpful!
Also I love the fact that I can sign into my school account and have that or sign into my personal account and have everything loaded
Good review! Hit all the target points. Thank you, David
I'm getting one thanks to you! :) Nice video!
I can't add anything except to say, I like this guy!,
spot on, man! great points. solid video.
You did a very good job,, young man! I bought the very affordable and fast Lenovo Flex 11. I'm loving it!
Great job man! Very informative.
James Dean Thanks!
Awesome insight. Thanks for clearing that up man.
*Very* helpful. Thanks so much!
great channel you actually have a good camera and good content.
good work keep going :)
juliusfinkas Thanks! A good camera helps but the most important thing is LIGHT!
