  • Dupes, or duplicates, have surged in popularity in recent years - offering budget-friendly options to high-end products. From designer fashion to make-up and tech, bargain hunters can find many products that are inspired by trendy branded originals. There are even dupes available for popular fast food items. How difficult is it to find good dupes, and how much can you really save from buying them?
    Meet avid frozen food dupe hunter, Leslie Koh, relishes in finding “taste-alikes” for popular branded fast food and teaches you how to cook them to satisfy cravings at a fraction of the price. Next, Isyraf Rusydi, a business student who collects fragrances as a hobby, shows Host Andrea Chong where to buy popular expensive scents at a fraction of the costs. Then, Isabelle Rosta, who has a women’s lifestyle blog, shares her dupe fashion finds. Dupes are most relevant when the product itself does not depend on the packaging and looks it comes in, hence why perfumes are one of the best. As long as you have the right concoction of chemicals, you can get the same fragrance - why pay more for luxury packaging if the differentiating factor will not be visible most of the time? If you want an exact replica though, dupes aren't for you. And no, dupes are not the same as counterfeit products, but you can consider all of them as under the umbrella of imitations and recreations. Clothes with intricate and unique designs or high quality control demands would not be as suitable to get a dupe since the difference tends to be more obvious

    If you are not rich, why would you want to pretend to be rich? I think it is better to pretend to be poor. When i was in my 30s, i still looked like a student. And i actually got discounts from shops thinking that I am a poor student.

    Thank God, we are not fans of big brands and for fashion we always buy affordable products like UNIQLO or we buy materials and have them made at a tailor, especially because I'm petite and my husband is tall.
    For perfume, my husband always buys European brands from the Fragonard brand and the quality is good at a reasonable price..
    For accessories such as watches we get Swiss brands such as Wenger and the brands are good quality at affordable prices.. so I don't think we're missing on things 😅

    Sorry, it's grossly misleading to label similar food as DUPES which is a degatory word for imitation .... My mom fried chicken taste like KFC but I don't call it a DUPE ... unless the food or goods are packaged in an identical pack like another brand ..... So please don't simply flaunt the word DUPE if you are unclear of the meaning of the word .... sad that CNA is using click-bait headlines to kure views !!!

      Dupe is not a derogatory word at all, it’s used all the time in the beauty community for items that work the same at a way more reasonable price point. I think you need to relax..

    I mean, if u choose the dupe over the real brand u're missing the point. If cant afford it then buy another affordable brand.. afraid of losing face??? Then u hv a wrong friend circle.

      Depends on the item. I have a mijia vacuum cleaner which is "dupe" of Dyson, good enough to use and much cheaper.
      For clothing,I find it stupid buying overly expensive branded stuffs, clothes will wear our,Uniqlo good enough.
      Food wise,I agree, just buy real thing and savor the real taste.

    The correct word for "dupe" is counterfeit product or fake. Organised crime earns more from fake products than from drugs. And you seem to advertise for organised crime here.

    • @SparkzMxzXZ

      Omg relax it’s such a common term, just search on youtube and you’ll see how prevalent a word it is with no crime(??) connotations lol

      The luxury companies themselves overinflating the product because of monopoly or they can while doesn't pay the Bangladeshi underage employees isn't an organized crime itself to you? What's your justification for selling a coin purse as expensive as USD 1000, for a USD 5 capital goods and not even USD 1 for the salary a day per person? Which one does organized crime better you think? I'm not supporting criminal organization, but the brands themselves aren't saint

    I don’t like to spend so much on a piece of clothing or shoes. I prefer to often change them so that I can have excuses to always buy new clothes. 🤣 If not, ppl will always see u wearing the same old clothing. Thinking that u got no money to buy new clothes ah. Anyway, the cheaper the item is, the more you won’t feel guilty throwing it away. Now is all abt fast fashion.

    • @mogreen19
      @mogreen19 20 дней назад +2

      I enjoy wearing the same cloths even if I have a lot and buy too much. Thing is I am trying to dress down and to look like less money and I think it is quite funny that rich people try to look poorer and the poor and trying to look richer. Remember that some people who wear old army pants and hoodies have walk in closets with bespoke suits and all. I hate wearing suits and ties. Hoodies are so much better to not attract attention.
