Trains at Manchester Piccadilly | 05/04/21

A bitterly cold, bank holiday Monday morning at Manchester Piccadilly station. I'd decided to stop off at Piccadilly station for a while to see some of the West Coast Mainline diversions. With the mainline shut between Wigan & Warrington Avanti services between London & Scotland were forced to divert through Manchester. However there's issues with pendolino's stopping in the island platforms at Piccadilly so they don't stop. The services run non stop from Preston to Stockport, then call at Wilmslow & Crewe and proceed from there non stop to London Euston. So Manchester see's 2x trains per hour to London at XX:15 & XX:35, but the XX:55 which usually runs via Crewe, essentially starts from Stockport & the service is merged with the anglo-scottish trains from Glasgow.
So as well as the Pendolino's, there's a Freightliner 66 seen passing. And the regular visitors at Piccadilly including Transpennine 185's & 397, East Midlands 158's, Northern Rail 331's, 195, 319's, 323's, 150's, Transport For Wales 175's and Cross Country Voyagers.

Travelled there for the first time in 2017 from Peterborough. Changed there for a Metro service to Prestwich.
