They should have imposed that livery on all Inter-City trains regardless of franchise. Very classy. Far better that the blob of paint we get over the door areas nowadays.
Loco hauled MKIII coaches (1st class no less) knocks the Pendos and Class 800s into a cocked hat comfort-wise! In fact even the MKII coaches have better ride than the EMUs'! Bring back proper trains I say! :D

Yeah this is absolutely fantastic. The taxpayers spent billions upgrading west coast mainline and introducing tilting trains to reduce journey times. Then the Tory government gives the franchise to a bus company and we end up using heritage rolling stock to run a service. This is tremendous and shows that the UK are going to make a total success of HS2 when it's complete. Maybe we will be running Voyagers on HS2 in 20 years because Avanti West Coast are hiring them in from a charter company!

With the new order for Hitachi bi-mode units it seems almost impossible in the next future. Perhaps it could happen in the meantime but im am a bit sceptic.

They put in one hell of a showing, one of the runs by 86401 is the second fastest ever clocked between euston and crewe by a member of the class.

The class 800’s and pendolinos can’t be compared. The pendos are brilliant trains the IET’s are rancid

These aren’t operated by Avanti, there’s a different company running the Friday Charters.
These are not the Friday charter. That was a Friday only thing operated by LSL. These trains were operating in addition to Avanti west coast
