Just changed my spark plugs with no issue! Went to autozone and grabbed the dense iridium and a Duralast 5/8ths magnetic spark plug socket with extension. Literally no issues. Thanks!!
Thank you so much brother!!!! I was able to do it myself within 20 to 25 minutes, dealership try to charge me $299 dollars I bought the parts and did it myself, I spend $60 bucks total, very good video and really clear, Thank you!!!!!
Thank you Ali for your videos. It is very detail and informative. I really appreciate your effort and learned a lot. My 2017 Camry SE is now over 100K miles. I recently had coolant flush done, transmission fluid change every 30K, engine oil change at every 5K-7K miles, and spark plugs changed. I had a local shop ran code scan and it showed P2109 which is body throttle. I requested for my local mechanic to replace it but he said it's unnecessary and he charged me money to clean it and the code is gone. However, my car performance is not what it used to be. It's running sluggish without much power. I am now getting low gas mileage. On a full tank I used to to get anywhere between 300-320 miles depending on how I drive. Right now, I am getting 254 to 270 miles max on a full tank of gas. I learned how to clean my own mass AF sensor which is really easy by watching your video. I also added some Techron fuel additives to try and improve the gas mileage. I am suspecting that the mechanic did not replace the spark plugs at all, he might have just cleaned it up and charged me money. I will change my own spark plugs today by following the steps in this video. Do you have any other suggestion for me to improve my fuel economy and gas mileage? I also suspect that I may have a vacuum leak somewhere on my Camry and I don't know how to check that. I also checked the air intake box to see if there was any rags that the mechanic may have forgotten and saw that there was no obstruction. So, I don't know what else could be the problem. There are no other error code scanned. But, my car was running great a month ago right before i took my car in for service. It is not performing like it used like a month ago right before I took my car in for the coolant change/flush and spark plugs changed and transmission fluid change. There are no issues with transmission. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
That's great. I'm glad that my videos were helpful for you, I may install oil Catch can to reduce carbon build up on the pistons and the intake valves, that will be helpful for you too
@@AliMECH Hi Ali. Replacing the spark plugs was a breeze. So simple. Only 10-15 minutes done! I also used CRC electronic cleaner to clean all the wires and electrical connecting components and I also used dielectric grease for the coils The car perform much better. As I suspected I believed the mechanical lied to me and he didn't change the spark plugs at all because they looked really bad, lots of carbon caked onto the ground and side electrodes and they looked really old. There were no cracks on the ignition coils and there were no oil leak or oil residue on the threads of the four spark plugs. When I shined my flashlight into the spark plug holes I noticed there was a lot of carbon build up. The thing is I changed my engine oil every 5K miles. I don't understand why all the piston and valves are so dirty.
I have that problem too, if you seen my videos before, how I cleaned carbon build up on the pistons and I will solve that problem soon, I'm thinking oil Catch can will solve that, I already ordered oil Catch can, one it arrives, I will install it and show before and after too, stay turned for that

Hello, I am one of your followers from Iraq. Thank you for your effort in work and clarification, but I have a question regarding spark plugs for a Camry. What is their type and what is the required number for this engine? Is it Denso Sk16HR11 Iridium or something else? Thank you and your followers.
Just had the trans fluid flushed, wasn’t prepared to tackle that. Dealership actually replaced a broken air box for free 🤔 or was it free, anyway they replaced it and didn’t charge me.
I put theme back in with a garden hose since its as wide as the white part (ceramic or something idk). But my car is W169 A150 and you bearly have space for hands, still could help even if they are on top
Hi Ali, Thanks for the videos. I just happened to change four spark plugs and cleaning the airflow sensor using your video method on my 2016 toyota camry SE. But after it was done, the engine light came on. I drove it for more than one and a half hour but it was still on. Anything I can do to turn it off. Thanks
Yes, I used the exact same brand you showed on the video. Mass airflow sensor cleaner. I might have been spraying too much. I also let it dry for 35 minutes before I installed it. I followed everything exactly the way you showed on the video.
I don't understand why you would suggest engine rebuild if theres oil at the top, when this is a typical symptom of a bad valve gasket. Can you explain?
If you like Toyota quality, buy them at a Toyota dealership at the parts counter. I believe Denso is the brand the car came with and is the same they stock for replacement. It's not something that needs to be done too often, so it's worth whatever extra cost there might be, especially if you're doing it yourself and paying nothing for the labour.
@@AliMECH awesome! Thank you. I'm just doing the oil change/oil filter. Intake air filter and cabin filter. What brake rotors and pad do you recommend? Something not as expensive as oem but not those cheap crappy ones? Thanks for the help!
I believe 110 k for the Iridium. My Camry is at 142 k so running late. I changed on my 2008 Highlander at 110 k and didn’t change again till car was donated at 300 k miles.
If this was a Volvo you’d have to remove all four wheels take out the back seat undo two pulleys remove the serpentine belt take the radiator out and then you might be able to fit half a hand in to access the plugs
Nice straightforward directions. No nonsense commentary, just the useful information we need. Thanks!

Estimated price range Labor: $99 - $126 "Parts: $11 - $15" = $110-$141! Save yourself some money by DIY!

In a pinch I will use the ignition coil to lower the plug and start the threads so that they don’t get cross threaded. Thanks for the great video!!
good idea!
Must replace rotor too?

Make sure you wait until the engine is cold. Don’t mix bolts or coils , put them exactly where they were. Don’t remove any bolts with drills.
What’s wrong with removing bolts with drills? I’ve done it all my life from luxury cars to average cars. Nothing wrong and makes job much easier
Because they go wild and strip the bolt. The drill will also push bones near your hand out of place, too. @@thewiseguy7100

Change them anyway for peace of mind

Do you need to re-learn the ECU after this?
No

If your plug socket is less than 40 years old it should have a rubber insert that will hold the plug, both when you pull it out and to put it back in.

Thank you.

do you know the torque spec if using a torque wrench to tighten the spark plug?

What spark plugs did you use? Can you please recommend?
Bosch platinum is good also
Iridium is what needs to be used. You can use platinum, but I would recommend oe plugs.
I have 2017 se I used the NGK iridium life spam 100k over platinum less than half of that

No need to if the car runs perfectly without shaking , spark plugs needs to be replaced when the car reaches 80k miles

Ceramic pads very good, there is so many brands on amazon you can find

what about the gap space
The way you inserted the spark plug was kinda sketchy... I just used a socket with a none slip lining but great video
Thanks, most of the sockets doesn't have the little rubber inside to hold the spark plug, so that's why I showed this method
@@AliMECH I have rather big fingers so I just can do it like that

No need to remove the battery wire??

At how many miles should you replace the spark plugs? 30k miles or 45k miles?
110 k for Iridium plugs. Regular is 60 k I believe.

When it's new? No
