    Tiafoe definitely deserved praise for his performance in Vienna
    the most discipline I have ever seen him play with for an extended period of time
    he played like a top 10 player
    no shame in losing to Zverev, only Medvedev and Djokovic could probably take on him now

    Extremely entertaining tennis. Many people wondered how the tennis world will look like in the post big 3 age. After seeing a great tournament like Vienna, I think it is safe to say it is in good hands.

      People nitpick because they know what he's capable of.
      Zverev is by far the most talented player outside of the big 3 yet he cokes in Grand Slams and has never beaten a Top 10 player. That's why people are disappointed. He's capable of great things but he gets in his own head and he's his own worst enemy.

    What I love about Tiafoe is how he looks like he's in pain when he walks... and then suddenly is dashing around the court and showing some of the best athleticism on tour during points.

    This is the first tournament I’ve watched Tiafoe and been convinced he can be a top echelon player. He has improved so much and can do a lot of damage. He seems to be really enjoying his tennis too. Very effective combination. Well done to Zverev. Superb from sart to finish!

    Zverev has served 10 or more double faults in only *three* matches all year. Safe to say with his service yips in the rearview mirror, he’s a force to be reckoned with.

      @@lukemilner9607 considering he used to double fault in the double digits regularly and it obviously affected the outcomes of his matches, I’m pretty sure it is relevant. One anecdote of one particular match isn’t sufficient evidence to suggest that serving double digits double faults isn’t impactful on a match.

    perfect example of the development zverev went through the last year ... he worked out his flaws, like serve percentage, but most importantly his mentallity. tiafoe was again and again gettin into his dangerous tunnel mode, but zverev hold his ground everytime. eating a point like this 5:00 is physically and mentally so challenging ...

    Zverev has really matured as a player too
    that is some great sportsmanship for him at the handshake
    considering all the sh*t and hate he got early on in his career, he handled the comments, press, and pressure quite well

      Medvedev and his wife were friends of Zverev and his gf since childhood and they distanced themselves away.
      His gf also brought up evidence while his only response was basically i am rich and you cant do anything to me.

    I'm not at all a fan of zverev, but he really showed that he has matured as a player. It would've been easy to get frustrated against a player like tiafoe who plays very unorthodox and keeps making weird faces etc, trying to make a show. But he kept his cool and won the match in straight sets. In his current shape, he is a serious contender for any upcoming big tournament...

    Tiafoe fought well, but couldn't beat the better player.
    Nevertheless, the match was spectacular.

    I watched Tiafoe qualify against Miedler last Sunday and thought he wouldn't last a single round with as little as effort as he showed then. One week later he's one of the crowd's new favorites and challenges Zverev in the final. Way to go, Frances!!!!

    I was really impressed how Tiafoe almost always anticipated what Zverev was about to do. So many situations in which he speculated rather early which corner Zverev would play into and he was almost always correct.

    That was a great final and a exciting tournament... for a 500, it was very high quality.
    Glad Zverev shut the mouth of his haters and good to see he also has so many fans rooting for him. His behavior on court has really been irreproachable lately. He is still a bit behind Djokovic and Medvedev right now but that could change. Bercy is going to be interesting and I hope Zverev meets Medvedev in Semifinal (remake of the final last year, another outstanding match).
    Congrats to Tiafoe this amazing week. Hilarious to think he almost lost in Round 1 of the Qualifying draw against Molcan. 1 week later he's trashed Tsitsipas, Schwartzman and Sinner and played the biggest final of his career. I hope he keeps up this form in Bercy and next year.

    What a week for Tiafoe, if he can perform consistently, he will be a force to be reckoned with.
    For Zverev, I am simply amazed by how strong a player he is right now. He was like broken in 2019 and now he’s without doubt one of the best on tour now.

    For a moment , I felt carried away to the era that my father used to talk about the Panatta, Nastase,etc... a magical epoch, where tennis was magical according to my father.

    Watched this live on court in Vienna, and damn, what a freaking awesome ride. Tiafoe was definitely the crowd favorite and I clearly understand why even though I was rooting for Sascha since Day 1 of this tournament. That drop/lob/drop/lob combo was epic, I am still laughing at it even up to this day - the crowd went wild and we gave that huge standing ovation. Freaking insane. I love every single bit of this. See you again next year, Vienna Open!

    If Tiafoe can keep this rise in level going, I could see him competing for the top 5. He seems to have it all, and if it's not too easy for the top players to pick away at his unorthodox forehand, and if he can just stay focused like this, he's got a real shot at battling for the big titles.
    Phenomenal athlete with crazy baseline power and some really good finesse, things are looking bright for American tennis!

      Top 5 is highly unlikely if you know pro tennis. Way too many other solid consistent players to overcome. He had a great run this week and he brings a different approach to the game that is appreciated. He’ll probably max out at top 20. Only one title to date. 🤔

      Plus, you say that like Rublev and Berrettini, the currently active #5 and #6, have all this consistency and variety. Like I said, let’s see if Foe can maintain this. If he can, I think he’s got more game than Rublev for sure.

      I don't think this is true at all. I think it's merely that Zverev has a better serve because he's 6'6''. I'd wager a guess that Tiafo was well over 50% in rallies that ended up neutral after the serve.

    I was there today and can say it was an intense match. Sadly Zverev serve worked perfectly and there were a bunch of aces. I'd love to see tiafoe with better returns soon and I'm convinced he can win this thing.

    Amazing serving from sasha! Frances has had an amazing tournament and showed consistent brilliance for the most part, rather than just flashes. Kind of like jack sock and kyrgios, he is just so entertaining but doesn’t always have everything working. One of those players who has so much potential and i’m just praying we can see more of this Frances going forward. As an American, i’m so happy we have someone so talented representing us :)

    Zverev was just too good today. A great result for Tiafoe to reach a ATP 500 final with 3 wins over top 20 in one week. Zverev is 6'6" but I'm amazed how well he moves laterally. I also noticed he gets down quite low with a good knee bend for someone his height. Foe has the game to make a push into the top 20 if he keeps playing like this.

    Congratulations to Sasha, who is arguably the sport's top player right now- but Tiafoe's run was only a little short of beating 4 of the tour's very best, and making it such a contest with Zverev, who performed a nearly flawless 2 sets of service games - was the story of the week.

    Tiafoe is not very consistent but in this tournament he was really impressive a little showmanship but played.
    Congrats to Zverev he didn't choke like he did against Taylor Fritz.

      it was the crowd that made him choke there they were brutal to him cheering his faults and unforced errors

    First time I have set eyes on Tiafoe, ( least I can pronounce his name now ) ! he works on instinct skill and athletism to accomplish these seemingly impossible shots ( akin to Federer at his best ), wow looking to see him rise in the ranks and more of his talent.

In my book 📚 Francis is a winner , he needs to uphold the level of discipline and structure he has now and remain true to his entertaining self ! 😅 !     Tiafoe's been having a great year. He definitely deserves to be in the top 30, maybe even top 20. I'm surprised he hasn't reached that rank yet given all his wins. This tournament should help bump him up a lot.

    Paris should be interesting - Djokovic is back to compete with these younger guys, like Zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas et al, who are hungry for these titles. It will be a preview of what's to come in 2022.

    Wow my prediction for the year is that Cilic, Fritz, Zverev, and especially The Big Foe will be climbing in the rankings this year and in 2022!
