Do you stil have a list of products you recommend?
I just started my curly hair journey and let me tell you... this is life style haha talk about commitment
i’ll have to try this out because mine gets tangled so soon after washing it and then i end up having to brush it and have it in two braids for multiple days and you can’t see my curls :( i’d love if it stayed detangled and moisturized longer
Thanks so much! I have thick curly wavy puffy hair and tangles are a nightmare!!!
I have thick, curly, poofy, and long hair😅 it’s tough
I have thick, curly, poofy, frizzy, short hair and it is the worst
U just described my head
Mine looks like a boMb
I am fed up of my curly hair😐they become tangled everytime no matter how much I detangle them
i’ve just started the curly girl method and everyday i wake up it’s SO knotty, thank you for this video!
I recently got a haircut and now my next day hair is SO much better and not tangled!
My hair problems: frizzy, fall off, breaks, don't grow, too thin, don't have much hair
And I'm nearly getting bald
maria begum probably buildup from shampoo and hard water- on your scalp, there's a shampoo that has vinegar that should help- I am adding vinegar to my shampoo lately. It's on amazon
Do ACV rinse
Your hair always grows, it’s probably just breaking off a lot
Scalp massage 💆♀️ mix rosemary oil & peppermint oil into your shampoo
OMG finally a video that doesn’t put all of the emphasis on hair products! This is the first time I’ve ever grown out my hair after a lifetime of buzz cuts & the maintenance is insane! Going to get a trim (haven’t cut my hair in 8 months!) and get that silk bonnet & pillowcase! And start conditioning before shampooing- genius!
I bought bright red satin pillow cases for when I travel..so I never forget them on the hotel bed. When I am at home I use these extra red cases on the back of my couch to avoid friction.
I literally just learned this today- regarding the nape tangles with jackets and clothes, flip your head upside down and spray the lower back half with the hair oil.
If you don’t have hair oil will water work? Will definitely buy hair oil and try this.
Guys do your hair a favour, and don't use the chemical laden hair oils in the market. Do what @Back biting said, and spray the lower back with any of these oils.
Jojoba oil, Argan oil, almond oil, grapseed oil.
All of these work as a leave in conditioner. Don't heat them, otherwise your hair will look greasy. Save the greasy look, for a pre-poo and/or self care day.
My personal favourites for self care hot oil treatments are coconut oil, almond oil, and "Tara mera" mustard oil.
All of these not only give hair benefits, but are great for stressed mental states.
really detailed, thanks
Hey thanks for this! I love all of your videos I think I've been doing a lot of stuff wrong throughout my life and it's a shame because I love my curls and they haven't been getting the treatment they deserve! So thanks for sharing your knowledge One more thing to add about the silk pillowcase...even though you're sleeping with a bonnet your face is getting the benefits too, causes less friction when you sleep on your side & silk helps you retain that moisture in your skin /hair unlike say, cotton where it tends to absorb the moisture from skin/hair leaving you with less.
Great video thanks!
Excellent video I lost a lot of hair everyday I washed my hair and a lot of tangles but since I trim my hair I saw a big improvement I think that is the main key trim frequently my styler recommends me do it every three months. Thank you for your tips and happy Easter 🐣🐰 😊😉
Thanks Marlene! Happy Easter to you as well.
I definitely notice a huge improvement in tangles when I get a trim too.
Thank you for this video! Since I have gone through menopause, I have been experienced having a lot of Fairy knots, extreme dryness and breakage. I have never had these experiences before menopause. I didn’t even know what Fairy knots were. I have been cutting them once I feel them. I deep condition once a week, however it’s the Fairy knots that keeps showing up possibly because my hair texture has changed. It seems to be getting better since I have been using Briogeo Rice water treatment once a month. Last year I had to cut off 8 inches of hair because of the extreme dryness, breakage and brittleness. Thank goodness I have long hair. Noughty hair care products seems to work well on my hair because it has extra moisture which I need for dryness. I will watch your video about shampooing. I will try the conditioning before washing maybe that will help with the Fairy knots.
Omg thank you so much!
Could you show how you put your hair up in the bonnet.
I didn’t even know I had curly hair because I have always had military cuts as a child and then kept that style while I was in the military.. I love it but it’s a lot of work. I hope that these tips help me out.
I have straight hair, but my 2 year old daughter has super curly hair like you, and it’s a daily struggle! But you’re saving my life lol. What products do you recommend for detangling? It’s always a big fight trying to comb out her tangles.
Make sure when combing her hair it’s wet just a reminder 🙃
Can moisture overload causes dry hair and frizz and tangles ?and how to know if you have moisture overload ? And can talk about how can i moisturize the hair everyday before braiding it and avoid causing moisture overload please and thank you so much 🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Please do a video on how to get rid on flakes ;-(
This was great
New to your Channel ❤️ I have Curly Hair Nd You Are SO Helpful ❤️ Blessings Miss Gena🙏
Thank you so much for stopping by!
I have naturally curly hair that's in the 3c area. I sleep on a polyester pillow and I wear a silk bonnet every night and I pineapple it a lot and it still gets tangled and frizzy. Plus, when my hair is wet,I wear a bath towel over my shoulders and I don't dye it or use heating tools on it. It gets frizzy throughtout the day. I wash at least once week and I put in twists after I put product in it and after I get the twists out in morning,I seperate the curls gently and I spray them and put product in it. Plus,it's hard to get the tangles out in the roots. Is Polyester the same thing as silk or no?
I just want to stop by real quick and wish you and yours a very happy Easter
Thank you, Darla! Happy Easter!
I am beside myself because I have fine curly hair like you and my hair keeps getting thinner and thinner due to tangles. I have done most of what you do for years but feel like it is very brittle. I haven't got my hair cut in more than 6 months so this could be a culprit. I use non harsh products and I sleep in a very loose pineapple on a silk pillowcase. I also use a detangler and lightly brush through my hair before I wash it. I find this helps out alot. I only wash my hair once a week. On bad hair days I twist it up in a medium size claw clip. Could this be bad? My husband God love him says I need to brush my hair everyday to get out tangles. I don't think that is good because I never brush my hair because it ruins my style? He says brushing is good for the scalp which can promote growth. I agree but us curly girls can't brush out hair everyday right?? I have long hair and just feel like I need to cut it off shorter and start over. I am so confused on what I should do.
hello! i was wondering what pillow case that is? & how do u sleep comfortably with a bonnet. mines feels so suffocating i cant last more than 10min wearing one. ive bought different ones from amazon but none feel comfortable. everytime i buy a satin scarf its too small or i can't wrap it around my head fully. i have short hair
I don’t have any access to buyable products apart from basic shampoo and conditioner, what can I do in this situation?
What type of deep conditioners do you recommend for fine curly hair? Thank you for all your great tips and advice. ✨💞
I have several that I recommend on my shop page here: genamarie.co/shop/hair/
Some of my top favorites are the new Briogeo Avocado mask, Shea Moisture Intensive Hydration mask, and the Not Your Mothers Curl Talk mask.
Gena Marie thank you Gena, I will definitely try these suggestions. 💞
How do you do a pineapple on waist length, wavy hair (I have very loose waves) , my hairs to long it doesn’t do anything to prevent tangles
i didn't watch your video yet but I loose so much hair; falling out hair and a ton of hair on the wide tooth brush. I wonder if this is from trying to get out tangles. My curly hair gets so knotted.
I used micro towels for my curly hair
Recently my hair is frizzing even while washing. I never had wet frizz before. Do I have protein overload or moisture overload?
Flash drying
This might be a stupid question, but since I don't know what the answer is, it isn't for me. What this "pineapple" you speak of? I'm guessing some type of silk bonnet maybe?
I just came across your channel, and I'm SO glad that I did❣️
Thanks Lori! A pineapple just refers to a hairstyle, where you put your hair all the way on top your head using a srunchie so that it stays protected while you sleep or lay against the couch.
Gena M okay, that makes sense. My hair tangles something awful. It also doesn't help that I have to use a bi-pap machine.
So I'm losing a ton of hair 😱
I am going to try the conditioner before shampooing tho.
I just ordered the silk pillow cases.
I don’t know what to think about deva curl any more,so I will avoid it and everything offered by them
I no longer use their products. This video was from before there were issues.
Ugh i hate knots i always get em when i put my hair up..i cant stand em
What the towel you use called
Any advice or product recommendations for dandruff
That’s a good video topic! That I would need to research more. I’ve heard Tea rinses can help!
I use dove derma care the coconut one
Thank you for this video! U mentioned your highlights quickly. I was thinking of getting highlights soon and I"ve never dyed my hair. Could u do a video on how to lighten hair in the least damaging way possible. Or like hair care before/after you're going to dye or highlight hair. If this makes any sense haha?
Yes, that’s a great idea! I haven’t experimented any yet with natural highlights yet. I’ve heard many curl friends who love Madison Reed color!
Gena M I'll check it out. Thanks!
ok ive been wanting to help my hair because i know it could be better but this sounds like to much work
I would love to collaborate and maybe do a video on my hair or we both swap routines.✌️😆
Let me knowwww
why is sleeping on a cotton pillow case so bad , but using a cotton t-shirt to dry our hair good ?
Because cotton sucks moisture which is what u want to do when you're trying to dry your hair only
Cotton pillow cases can also cause breakages and frizz
when youre sleeping youre moving around/rubbing your hair against your pillow and your head is heavy which causes more friction vs when you use a cotton t shirt youre supposed to lightly squeeze the water out of your hair and you have control over how gentle you are w it
@@camilletejeda thank u
you need time stamps.
the thumbnail made me sweat
Curly hair is a pain! It’s so unpractical 😭
Seems like u cant do anything with curly hair without it getting mad at u 😩. Also no thank u to devacurl!
Hi Samantha! This video is old and was before the DevaCurl issues. I no longer use their products. You can check out my more recent videos for alternatives :)
She got all this information from black women
Really? Gosh, I don't know why she didn't give credit to black women then.
Black people go through so much, and some people don't even want to give them the bare minimum, which is credit!
I don't know how they sleep at night. People have gotten away with not giving you guys credit for so long, that it has become normalised.
Sorry if you think I'm blabbing on, but black people need to be assertive by telling people to give credit where its due. If not, its theft.
Lots of other nationalities have curly hair also..
And tangles
