SilverStone's RVZ03 Raven mini-ITX case is one of the more "proper" small form factor cases, and sticks to a truly small, low-profile size. The RVZ03 is similar in some ways to SilverStone's smaller FTZ series (e.g. FTZ01), and quite a bit different from its boxier SG series (like the SG13 or SG14). Compared to other recent cases, like the Corsair 280X micro-ATX case or Cryorig Taku, the RVZ03 is significantly smaller and fits slimmer components. That also makes it unique for living room gaming PCs and HTPCs, particularly because of its thermal performance and cooling capabilities.

Could you test the Streacom DA2 itx case Please, thanks 👍
I noticed the last few builds did not sure IO Back Plate. Is this the norm for your testing? i would gather most people would install them. Does the back plate make any difference in testing? I would assume air pressure wouldn't be the same?
inwin a1 review pls.
How about an ITX case that is ACTUALLY the size of a console? Check out the NFC Skyreach 4 Mini.
Is this case the same as the FTZ01S but with a different exterior?
Instant like due to that ad XDDD
I knew I wasn't the only one
Revisiting this video to say my PC is housed within an FTZ01-E and could not be happier. I have an i9-9900KF cooled by a Scythe Big Shuriken 3 + NF-A12x25 and EVGA RTX 3070 slightly undervolted. This case can definitely handle high-end parts, in case anyone out there is considering this or any of the similar Silverstone cases that share the internal layout.
I've built Node 202, Dr Zaber Sentry & NFC Skyreach in the last 12 months. Stumbling across mITX cases is what brought me back to building computers again, glad that my favourite tech channel ( well you and Buildzoid )is featuring them with your usual high level of testing and analysis.
Daniel Earle thoughts on each? Pros and cons?
I swear I'm going to die of old age before the Dr Zaber Sentry becomes avalible :(
mojo2418 node 202 cheap(ish) but warm if you put high end components in it, FD could do with meshify-ing it. Dr Zaber is lovely, high spec workmanship - didn't put anything high end in it - after the Node 202 shennagins, 1060 + 1600x. Skyreach S4 mini is the best IMHO if you must have light & super portable and top spec components, well ventilated. Will really need to wait for the next gen GPUs to bring down lower powered units that will fit in its form factor without excessive PSU and GPU modding. Hopefully later this year we will something from both the green and red teams. All of them easy to work in, just have to give a little more thought to cable management. Also S4 isn't suporting off the shelf PSUs, you have to use Pico type supplies and do a bit of reading / watching YT but the sff community is very helpful.
Take a look at this thread bro should ease your burden a bit
smallformfactor.net/forum/threads/sentry-2-0-evolution-of-console-sized-gaming-pc-case.7106/page-4#post-93952
I think these Silverstone cases with totally separate CPU and GPU chambers are better thermal wise than the Node 202 - otherwise seal the opening between them as you end up pressuring one or the other with warm air from whichever has beefier fans in the pursuit of better thermals. Blower or single fan card is betrer. Asthetically I think it's cleaner then these Silverstone cases and perfectly acceptable with mid range components in it.
I have only in the last two months found your RUclips channel, And I’m kicking myself for not finding it sooner, as you have become my fav tech channel to watch, your reviews are refreshing, impartial , honest, to the point and so well explained. I thank you for all of this and long may it continue
Ok, that's one of the best sponsor spots I've ever seen. Your dry humor and deliverance is so good :D
Liking these new reviews on the smaller cases. Also, looking forward to the future PSU reviews, too.
Forgot to mention the S4mini, although I don't know how available that is yet these days and is less boxy. As for normal boxy ones, the Raijintek Metis is another one that is fairly cheap and looks quite nice.
Great video I'm so glad you guys are testing more Mini ITX stuff! It's hard to find accurate temperature testing for these kinds of cases online so you are filling a good niche there
1 year ago, my brother bought me this case as a gift. Both of us love small form factor cases, and we both travel with out PCs...
I'm still using it to this day, and It's managed to properly keep my cpu and gpu temps optimally.
Definitely would like to see some comparisons to more dual chamber ITX cases like Silverstone's ML08, Fortress 01, and of course the Fractal Design's Node 202 everyone else seems to like.
Built inside this case, and had my 1080ti/8700k/3 case fans/nhl12s all fit in there, even with some room somehow. Temps are good and everything is performing great. Absolutely love how "mobile" this case is.
Thanks heaps for reviewing this case, i have been looking at getting one for a build for a while now but there aren't really any proper reviews of it other than the one hardware canucks did but it still left a little to be desired. This review answered all of my queries, keep up the good work and thanks again!
Where can I buy the hair mounting kit?
Wait a few years you'll be able to do it yourself, for free.
You need to mix some hair extensions glue with thermal paste for optimal dissipation
I've been waiting for you guys to cover this thing!
Probably the best ad I have seen today. Well played sir.
Happy to hear you'll be doing the Silverstone FTZ01 also. Would also be interested in temp/noise comparisons for these cases on your tests when you use a full-length graphics card vs the SFF card from this test.
Best ad I have ever seen. Keep up the great work!
Legit best intro for a product, evga must be really happy
Love my Fractal Node 202. Had it for 2 years now, great case very happy with it.
I HAVE THIS CASE and I love it 😍 Also on the top and bottom, there is perforated metal to allow heat from both the gpu and cpu to escape. Not just the back.
What's your configuration and temps? Are you using stock case fans?
That ad was incredible
You helped shape the industry. Thankful for that. I still want one of these older mats compared to your newer ones. :(
Wow, that ad spot was spectacular. I was zoned-out of it like usual, but then I see you sticking your hair into the fans and I got interested. Please more creative ads like that!
You should add this to the case review playlist! Struggled to find this video again
fractal design node 202 next. I had one in the past and had a quirk to it. where the ssd is located if you place it on the GPU side of the case it will heat the ssd up if you have an open air cool and case the drive to crash. I happened to me in the past. Simple fix of putting the SSD on the CPU side of the case. Just a interesting lil story of building ITX PCs
This was why I put dual M.2s in mine.
I'm using the RVZ02 and I'm loving it.
Nice to see they added fan mounts on the 03, I have the rvz02 and there are no fan mounts and the gpu is much better off using a blower style cooler since there needs to be a bigger focus on exhaust than air flow going all over the place.
Best creator made advert yet, and there have been some very good ones. Nearly sprayed my tea over the monitor laughing.
Thumbs up! Keep the ITX case reviews coming. Love em
RVZ03 looks awesome. So far it has gone mostly unnoticed and I was hoping more information on modifications will be posted soon
I have the RVZ02. I currently have a 4 TB 3.5" drive (modded to fit where the slim dvd drive goes), 2 2.5" 500GB SSDs, 2 m.2 (one pci-e one sata) and there is room for another 2.5 ssd in the GPU compartment (another popular mod to do). With modifications you can fit 1 3.5 HD and 3 2.5 ssds in a 12 liter enclosure making it the perfect portable workstation on the go. I even bought the handle for it (best $29 i ever spent)
I considerd getting this and putting it horizontal under my TV as a media / console-like PC, that's how I ended up on this vid looking for reviews.
So I guess they nailed it in that sense, I wouldn't feel comfortable building this 5 years ago, but now that I've built 2 true mini-itx cases in the last 12 months I would be up for building this.
Steve, please take a look at the NFC Skyreach 4 Mini, AKA NFC S4 MINI, it's a truly mITX Case with very good component support for it's size, a review on it would be even better but just knowing that you're aware of this case would be worth the time spent typing this comment :)
peter geary we'll take a look at getting one!
I really like the S4 Mini, but you will need to do research before getting one to make sure your hardware fits, as well as getting a Pico PSU.
Bryn Palmer its alright, its just TOO small.
I believe in a point to where the DanCase A4 sfx is the true smallest mini itx. anything more smaller than the A4 should be named micro itx or something. its TOO small for mainstream products. the NFC case requires compromise like the gpu and psu. This is my opinion though. The sentry and shit alike the s4 mini should have their own name
S4 mini is a really nice case but imo you have to sacrifice to much for this form factor ( pico psu , very short GPU wich mean limited cooling or power etc ) . I believe the sweet spot for " true " itx cases right now is around the 6L to 8L mark .
I didn't have to compromise with my S4 mini in any way. Its rocking a 1700x and a gtx 1070 all powered by an hdplex 400watt +dell 330watt psu just fine, just runs a little toasty. imgur.com/a/zxjLxcH
First ad on youtube I really like and i'd see it again 10/10.
Super jazzed to see your interest in itx and sff cases! Would love to see you review the Dan case
Wasn't in my sub box, but got the notification? Awesome video after the last one btw. Also please do an mATX group just like the ITX one, I think mATX is the best for gamers (especially on a budget).
I love the look and performance of this case!
I have a variant design of this case (the one with the handle on top of it), and I was able to comfortably fit a fullsize 1080ti inside of it. I love this thing. The only gripe that I have with it is that getting air out of it, but nothing that pointing a fan at it won't solve. Highest temps ive ever seen it at are 65ish degrees and I work in AutoCAD, Maya, and Adobe suite. Plus, it's easy to take to college.
That AD so damn epic :D. good job as usual.
I built a friend's vr computer in the Cougar QBX Kaze and was pretty impressed with its performance to size. It basically is a cheap steel knock off of the Dan case and the other expensive Kickstarter aluminum boxes. I would love to see how It stacks up with other itx cases in your testing!
Fractal design 202 please. :)
I was going to say the same thing :-)
Indeed Node 202 is a better case imo since it has the same features at a smaller form factor .
I love mine. There's one review for ya. No data though.
Node 202 is also closer in size than other mITX cases. I love mine. I prefer sleeker designs without crazy angular plastics and RBG lighting.
mojo2418 node 202
Any m-itx is always fun to watch specially when u show your cable mangement, how u cram powerful product in a small space
I'd love to see a SilverStone RVZ03 vs Fractal Design Node 202 with the exact same components.
Now that's more like it! A properly small and compact mini-ITX case.
If you're looking for feedback, the thing you mention that you'll split the mITX case reviews sounds good.
I built one with a Ryzen 1700 and an evga 1070. Both case fans over the GPU, and using the stock AMD Wraith Spire which due to height effectively only draws air in from the vents above the CPU. Brilliant setup, runs cool and quiet.
Great review, I personally own one of these and purchased it because my much bigger bitfenix colossus did not fit my 1060 as it takes up 2.5 slots. I previously had a 970 which ran so hot the glue holding the stickers on the GPU fans melted causing them to come off and stop the fans running altogether. The much larger card fits well in this much smaller case and runs very cool and very quietly. My only small complaint it the lack of 3.5" drive support as there is room in the case but no mounting options.
A review of the Loque Ghost S1 MK1 or MK2 would be sweet!
It's one of the smallest SFF cases that can fit a 120mm or 240mm AIO CLC (It's listed as 8.2L). I'd love to hear your thoughts on that bad boy.
Yes! I'd like to see this as well. The Loque case looks really sweet and I love how tiny it is.
Ehhh, I like the NCASE more than the Ghost, you can fit 2 240mm rads in that if you know what you're doing :P
Same thing, I'd love to see this.
Tho realistically, demand for expensive ITX enclosures might not be enough to merit testing.
I agree. I'm really interested in that case, but not many channels have done videos on it.
Thanks for this video. The SilverStone RVZ03 Mini-ITX looks interesting.
Its great to finally see a review of this case that doesn't spend its time whinging about what it can't do. Since I bought this case quite a while ago I've spent much of my time telling people on forums and review videos that the case is good. That it can take a full size GPU, PSU, and rad (simultaneously). All those are optional but can fit. I currently run an i5 7600k under a Corsair H60 (using a case slim fan mounted in the GPU compartment) alongside a full size EVGA GTX 970 FTW, and Silverstone Strider Gold 650W PSU. The PSU fits fine but cable management is truly a b####. My only problem I have with the case is the lack of information available for buying components for a build in this case. Everybody has opinions and no facts about what does and doesn't fit inside the box and whats worth your money (I have bought 3 different CPU coolers trying to get thermals that I'm happy with and I'm still looking at others). Plus now there's a version of the case with Addressable RGB.
Tech Jesus now comes in windswept. Breathtaking!
Great video! always love the EVGA CLC advert, cheeky Steve! But anyway, would love to see some older case reviews from Silverstone like the SG03, where the power supply is used as the active exhaust. Also the FT03 as its a unique form factor, that was copied recently by someone (forgot who). The Cooler Master Elite 100 series would also interest me as they are a bit boxy but wonder if they are still a good choice used.
Nice work Silverstone. Always liked the RVZ series.
The 'Firewall' separating the GPU and CPU, while giving each compartment it's own fan(s) is so incredibly clever! I'm sure it's something that's been done plenty in the past, but this is the first time I've seen it. I wonder if that would work at all for ATX cases.... hmm....
i had a hearty and genuine LOL at the hair cooling tips. thanks for that.
Made my own custom Micro ATX case for my living room PC. It can take a full sized Graphic card without using a riser and fits in my media stand under the TV. Cost me around $10 for paint, as I already had the wood. Designed for maximum air flow.
Ncase M1. Obviously. I think someone already mentioned it below... I just wanted to point out, it has both a vent-mesh side-panel AND solid full-window options. I'd like to see your thoughts on the difference in ventilation performance vs. component alternatives for those two versions.
I have my pc in the Lian Li PC-Q10WX and its about 19 liters in size and I love it!
Gamers Nexus - I've been watching you since you started way back when people thought you didn't know what you were talking about and made fun of you having hair and being in your mom's basement or whatever. My point is - I saw a bunch of computer and tech channels develop and most opted for the sexual innuendos. I'm glad yours are very subtle and that you used your own brand of comedy and at the same time remaining professional. It's really awesome to see you develop your own thing.
sexual innuendo style comedy are for people who aren't uppity and uptight. : )
Nice review as always Steve . An alternative to this case could be Fractal Node 202 , it's smaller but has prety much the same features . Also would like to see you review some more premium itx cases like Dancase A4 , Ncase M1 , Sentry , Louqe Ghost etc etc , though budget options are always welcome .
I hope you have a hair mounting kit for AIOs in the store for April Fool's.
Slapped a i7 12700k and a 3070 in this badboy and its running nice! Thermals are small issue due to the hardware I put in it. I just replaced the silverstone CPU side panel fan with a bigger 3000rpm corsair fan and my temps dropped from 91⁰c to 79⁰c max temps. For the hardware that seems pretty good 👍 still a good case in 2022 although there was only about a fingers bit of room left over since I used a full size PSU. It was my 2nd ever PC build so if I can do it you can do it!
Great review as usual! I'm even more confident that i made the right choice with this case now :-)
I am using this case for exactly what you describe: a streaming pc with local media on a nas that also allows me to play some games and use steam inhouse streaming for more demanding games. I don't have a gpu in it yet, but plan to move my desktop gpu when i upgrade that.
Regarding the power supply:
I am using a corsair vengeance ATX power supply which is the max suggested size and i didn't have too many issues fitting it.
It actually even worked (very tightly) with my old corsair TX650 power supply (15cm, non modular), but the internal power cable was pushing against the on/off switch of that power supply. I'm not sure if there are modern power supplies with the on/off switch to the left of the power cable, but that is a non-obvious point of attention if you plan to use this case!
More itx cases reviews, please! Greetings from Brazil!
I literally subbed just because of the ad. It was so funny
Ty for covering itx cases
Another fantastic ad from GN. i just bought the evga 280. but i'm changing those awful fans to noctua fans.
Thanks for this review! It aired a few days after mine arrived, and my build is a slow process. I am planning on cramming a Cooler Master Master Liquid 120 Lite in for CPU cooling, and also going with "to length" cable mod cables to cut out some of the clutter and space concerns. Right now the plan is to use a fully modular ATX power supply, unless I can find an SFX for the right wattage/price point I have to work with.
My request to you is to test this case with one of the couple AIOs that you can cram in there
I would love to see a full review and build of the Fractal Design Node 202. It is, IMO, the most elegant SFF case in the market.
I think a direct competitor of this is the Silverstone Milo ML08. A little older and less gamer-oriented than the RVZ03, but it has a slot for a slim 5.25-inch optical drive that might make it more suitable as an HTPC for the living room.
I'd love to hear about compatibility for hardware, especially liquid cooling parts in your reviews.
Manufacturers don't often like to tell you what is technically possible (i.e. AIO 120mm coolers in the rvz02 if you have a short GPU), and you're clearly smart enough to figure out what's actually possible if you have the case on hand. I'm always looking for a tiny case to stick a custom loop in, so it'd be nice to see if it is possible (even if you don't test for it, just see if things will fit).
I keep telling myself my next build is gonna be as small as I can get it and yet here I am with a room full of Mid and Full towers. Next time, next time I swear
I would love to see a review from u about Fortress FT-04. I am in love with this case, there are so many features, including 5,25'' bays, gpu support, cpu cooler suport, some sort of foam for noise levels, etc...
And GamerNexus is my first source for cases choices. BTW, I know it is a case from 2013.
I'll happily send you one of my Dr Ząber Sentry cases to compare. It's half the volume, absurdly high quality, and can fit all the same components.
When an ad comes up on one your vids I gladly watch the entire thing!
Built my current system in this case, I managed to fit a Corsair H55 AIO on the side panel. But you'll need to use one of the slim fans on the H55 to make it work.
Dat add spot doe. GG, Steve. 11/10, would recommend.
Excellent Ad.
I have rvz01 with 7700k and a 1070 and no problems it also had the 2 fans where the gpu mounts and still has optical drive
Hi there!! I love your channel and have been a long time subscriber. I really like your videos on overclocking and in-depth motherboard analysis. I would like, since there aren't so many options out there, that you could do an analysis of the m-itx motherboards available (z370/z390, b450/x470). Instead of like everyone else just looking at the features and number of fan headers available, you could do an in depth analysis of the different VRM solutions offered :) This would be really beneficial as the VRM's inside small itx cases probably won't have that much direct airflow and would affect overclocking potential. Hope you read this comment and can consider a future video for it.
Thank you! Thats exactly what i needed
That evga ensorsement was amazing
I'm still rocking my Cooler Master Elite 130. It's got a 5.25" bay, which i populated with an adaptor that can hold a slim ODD (my DVD burner) and two 2.5" devices (SSDs,…). I could even macGyver (drill and grind) additional breakouts / external ports in there. (I always wanted an LED clock, powered by the 5Vsb rail.) It sits on top of my desk and seconds as a plateau for one of my (3) monitors.
RVZ01B is still a good case too. Building in it for my girlfriend's mini-ITX build at the moment (1070 + Ryzen 5 1600).
Give me moar, MOAR mITX reviews!
Had to like for the commercial. Don't say that often lol. Also glad to see decently ventilated small chassis.
Yeah man! More ITX cases
Hey Gamers Nexus! Love the videos! Would you recommend a 9900k in here with a 2080ti asus rog strix and a AIO cpu cooler?
what do you think would be a better ITX case with better thermals with those components ^? Or would you say this is THE BEST for small form factor and thermals?
Maybe not easy (probably really hard) to review but the Ncase M1 is aesthetic as hell and if possible review that. Also, good channel, I've been watching non-stop for like a year now
Tech Jesus is pleased! Congratulations Silverstone you did it!
Well, Node 202. It's so tiny and looks really cool.
This RVZ03 is actually a great improvement in the looks department, in my opinion.
I would love to see you do a review on the Phanteks Evolv Shift, Steve. It's a pretty controversial case due to it's unique placement of the gpu. Would love to see your results.
Still happy with my Cooler Master Elite 130, steer clear of the 120 though. The 130 is a cheap and well thought out case with some modular aspects. I've mounted mine to the bottom of my table so it's completely out of the way.
Fractal design node 202 but populate the two 120mm fans with slim fans and make sure the cooler is as close to the maximum height......I used a scythe cooler with a long name. As said when building in such small cases planning is key to a successful build.
Any chance getting the Silverstone Milo ML08B-H? I guess it’s kind of similar to this with some differences though. Oh and the InWin A1 as well please?!? Many thanks for remaining awesome!
I'm also really interested in the ML08. The handle intrigues me.
If we talking about really faithful small form factor cases - please, review Dan Cases A4-SFX v3. Would be very interesting to see how hot and how loud can PC be when its put in a shoe box.
How much does the absence of the io shield effect temperatures ? especially in such a small case with positive pressure ?
Best ITX for its specs and prices so far. Thanks @Steve
You guys can try using a Raijentek Pallas which is a sff cooler with a slim 140mm fan for most if not all itx builds. I used it with no issues on the RVZ01 as long as the itx board has the same layout as the AsRock z/h97 itx or at least have the 24pin connector next to the ram slots, otherwise it wont work. Performance wise it will do better than what you are using and the low profile noctua cooler as well.
I wanna see more itx case reviews of sff and this case seem great its just a shame it looks the way it does if they just change the face plate or have more options of face plate to make it suitable for a more lounge room / furniture look i think its sales would skyrocket
Look up the rvz01b(complete metal outside and can be had with or without the rom slot. Rvz01-e has a more plain plastic outside. They all have the same interior as this case. You will pay more for them tho.
Thanks for this and the other videos! When will we see your review for the FTZ01? :)
I would at some point love a comparison between the NCase M1, the Cougar Kaze, and the new Inwin A1. Build em each to the max of what they can hold! Could be really interesting.
@Gamer Nexus
This case is going to be the one I use on my next PC when the Ryzen 9 3950X comes out September 7th of this year.
I'm considering getting the SilverStone SFX Series SST-SX800-LTI 80+ Titanium Power Supply for it, to save space and make Cable Management better.
However, for some reason, PCPartPIcker is labeling that PSU as "Incompatible" with that case, despite it COMING WITH AN ADAPTER for SFX PSUs and also being MADE BY SILVERSTONE themselves.
Is this an error on PCPartPicker's part? Or is that PSU really not compatible with this case?
