Hi Bro I cannot downloud the PDF
Carlitos: I’ve been composing music for years that includes Latin, but I’m in dire need of Latin rhythm identification for many of the tunes I’ve written. I know there are others than Samba and bossa novas that I’ve been using for lack of knowledge, and few drummers in my area that are familiar with the rhythms. What I’ve seen of your videos thus far are very helpful and I’d definitely like to learn more: what would you suggest I do? By the way, I just recently discovered Tony Succar and his Afro-Peruvian band that absolutely blew me away! 😎 🎸. Fritz4Bass
I play guitar..latin/jazz...heavy rock, absolutely love your channel
You're literally putting out the best lessons man.

GREAT presentation, Juan!! Love the grooves..
That is just amazing man! You're a great teacher and musician!
Awesome player and teacher -- thanks Juan
This is great! Thanks for making this knowledge available!
Dude, you are awesome. The amount of respect for the genre, the traditional instrumentation and musical application that you demonstrate (in such short time, I might add) make this the absolute best video one can watch to get into mambo on the drum set.
Juan my compliments , a very good clear explanation and also the slowness is very very good, finally you are a very good musical teacher and player
An excellent presentation delivered professionally! Great method to layer the rhythms one by one to make a great lesson. Well done!

Yeah compadre!!
Eso! Dale!
Dude this guy opened up a whole new aspect to the drums for me as Latin drums were basically waaaay too foreign for me growing up. Now that I'm aging a little, I think this is dope! Sick beats that will work my coordination out. Thanks big dawg!
Great to hear! Enjoy brother!!!!
Increíble la explicación paso a paso, sumamente fiel al ritmo original, te lo agradezco profundamente, estas lecciones valen oro, MUCHAS GRACIAS!

Sand Man awesome!! So jealous you live in Hawaii 😂 I have to take a trip up there with my wife and daughter one day!
Juan Carlito Mendoza Haha visit sometime soon! I just finished practicing and I have to say, your lessons are phenomenal! They really helped me to prepare for my college auditions and improved my understanding of different aspects of my instrument. I really enjoyed learning this today. I also enjoyed your lessons on the half time shuffle. Keep up the great work!
Sand Man absolutely man And super stoked that the channel is helping!! Go get ‘em!

Nice
Fantastic lesson! Using it with my students already cause of how clear it is! For you backing keys and bass lines, are these made by you or is there a program you use?
Loving the latin stuff and always look forward to seeing more!
Independence 👏👏
Mambo, yes. 15" Extra dry Duo Hats, yes. Mario t shirt, yes. My question to you is, out of all the great t shirts you own, why did you choose the Rolling Stones specifically for the Drumeo session.
I'll answer this in the Drumeo question and answer video ;)
bravissimo
ur insane. :) thank you!
Glad to help
a video on fills for latin or afro cuban would be great🤔 never know what to play for fills when notated 👍
Amazing!!! Greetings from Italy Master Carlito :)
Greetings! Hopefully one day I'll make it out to Italy to do a masterclass, drum camp or clinic!
@@JuanCarlitoMendoza I would be 100% present :D
Hi Juan.thx so much. Great play alongs too. How can i have this one please?
Awesome video! Looking forward to putting some of these grooves together!
Hey, one other thing: I notice your cowbell pedal is a direct drive. Is your bass pedal also direct drive? I've always thought of those as more of "metal players pedal?"
Yes everthing is very good demostración but i would like to see more of the bass drumm and explain more an it please excelente working thanks?
Thanks! I'll try! Got some new equipment so I'll see if I can make it happen!
that double bell pattern is not EZ!! adding clave with your foot!! youre a beast!!!
Yeah it's not easy, but I wanted to show the possibilities.
Excellent video!...can I ask when to use 3-2 clave as opposed to 2-3 clave? Or it doesn't matter... Thx heaps
I usually reply latin...what? 🤣
You play this soo beautiful! 🤗
I love your videos. They makes me happy, to hear your smooth effortless drumming.
Latin is really another solar system. One of the hardest styles to play. That requires alien independence and feel. I'll never get to that level of independence, even if this might be considered intermediate level for latin.
I've never managed to get my mind around it. I think you'll have to be born in the latin world, and lived it, to really learn it. About the same with most of the world music rythms.
I think it's a combination of things, a lot of it is practice, but the other aspect is really listening to authentic music and playing along to the records to get the right feel.
@@JuanCarlitoMendoza
Yes, I agree.
I've never really listened to that genre of music. But I wouldn't mind learning at least som basic stuff, but I definately suck at independence. Most genres have somewhat accessable basic level. But latin music have a lot harder basic level.
Keep on doing your incredable stuff! 🤗
Boss
✌🏻❤️💪🏻
Right on!
thank you very much.....suppppeeer
Welcome 😊
Thank you ! Awesome lesson..is the tracks you used available as drumless? Gotta get my practice on!
Amazing lessons! Thank you very much! Now, studio producers would really appreciate you doing the same this time without any sort of accompaniment (King of the same you did on Drumeo) Cheers!
Hi Juan, can we use on right hand the cascara pattern as well the different mambo bell pattern in mambo groove? And which bell pattern to choose from slow, mid and high tempo?
King papi
Awesome. Your lessons are among the best out there. Have you done a similar breakdown of Guaguancó or something with rhumba clave?
ricosalomar I have it was my first RUclips video about 12-13 years ago 😂 it might be time to redo that lesson!
@@JuanCarlitoMendoza I've seen that one, and it's great. You've definitely upped your game since then, though that's hard to believe.
Dope Mario shirt. Where’d you find that one?
Классный драммер!
Спасибо!
The piano parts remind me of Toccata by CM Widor
Hey Juan, thanx from germany for so much amazing ideas and stuff around the drums!!! Is the PDF-file still available somewhere? Saludos!
Here you go!! All my lesson PDF files will be located on my website as soon as it’s updated. Enjoy!

Drumeo Question: where do i start if i want to learn linear patterns? do i directly go to grooves or fills?
I'll answer this in the Drumeo question and answer video ;)
Hi Bro I cannot downloud the PDF
my only question is how are you so cool? i wanna be drummer like you
Too many years playing Rock and Country, I just can't seem to not play the kick on the downbeat. Any suggestions?
The piano reminds me of Widor’s Toccata 😇
LOL! Nice!
This is crazy difficult for me having no background in Latin music, great lesson I need to practice
Yeah will take some time for sure! Just wanted to show some possibilities.
I have alot to learn🤔
Man. I wait for the day you mix it up with Giovanni Hidalgo.
That would be insane!
Carlito una pregunta, tienes algún ejercicio para desarrollar la independencia? Puedo tocar este tipo de ritmos, pero cuando intento agregar la clave en el pie izquierdo my brain crashes xD
One more thing Carlitos who did you study with and what books did you study?
I'll answer this in the Drumeo question and answer video ;)
How do you get ready for a big thing like drumeo was it hard for you
I'll answer this in the Drumeo question and answer video ;)
Que micro gastas en el bombo? Me encanta como suena
Dani Garcia Drums earthworks SR20LS
Can you please tell me where to find that track to play along? Thanks ☺️
I had that track made for me. I don't know if I have it anymore though. Sorry!
Hi Juan. I'm from Portugal (Algarve), and i learn a lot with you, in special on latin beats. Do you have any DVD only with the latin beats? If you do have , can i by that??? And how much cust in € (euros)? Thanks a lot.
.
Jorge Carrilho I don’t have a DVD, but I have a bunch of lessons on my website. CarlitoMendoza.com there are some Afro Cuban lessons there
@@JuanCarlitoMendoza , Ok. I go to see and see if is what i need, and want to learn. I want to learn Mambo, Salsa, Cascara, bolero and rhumba for now, but with the cow bell on left foot. If one day you have that in DVD i woodlike to by to you. On te mean time i see if a get that here on youtube in your lessons page. I realy like the way you explain all the things and the way you show us to pratice. Thank you very much :)
hi carlitos !!! my question is.. all this paterns you can used in eny song of salsa?' .. i mean is there a standart patern to use in eny song of salsa?'.... sorry my bad inglish im from argentina!!!
SebaCudos si hermano!!! Dale!
@@JuanCarlitoMendoza gracias!!!!
First off, respect !! Been trying to play such rhythms for a while, and manage somewhat, but definitely do not have that relaxed feel you have yet. Now, my question is, when playing two bells (like in example 5), any particular (musical, traditional or other) reason for playing Bongo Bell with right hand and Timbale bell with left hand and not the other way around? I use the same hand setting, but still, I did wonder. Cheers in advance !
That cowbell set up is just comfortable for me, but you can flip it around. As long as the sounds are correct then you should be good. Hope that helps a little and thanks for checking out the lesson!
@@JuanCarlitoMendoza Au contraire, thank you !! For the lesson and your answer. Much obliged !
Carlito. That's called SABOR.
Sabor with Adobo. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hello
Hey hope all is well.
This needs more cowbell...
😂 Indeed!
this is as hood as it gets. people post the grooves but never relate to the parts👌
I could only dream of this type of Independence. I'm so confused just watching. I can't even get my limbs or brain to work seperately as it is
It just takes some time and effort for sure, but definitely doable!
Just practice really slow. 1=rh only, 2= rh and left foot , etc...
Try practice linear skills and subcoordinate more, it's helps
How many layers of independence is this? Jeez
I am a drummer who hate cowbel 🤣🤣
I thought It was Rob Scallon for a second
