- In this video we are discussing what we think iss the best SD card reader for trail cameras. There are a ton of cheap options for iPhone SD card readers, but we only trust one.
The Apple certified SD card reader is the only one we will use for quick and easy trail camera checks. Most cheap SD card readers available are white labeled products that can cause damage or corruption to your SD cards.
Using any SD card reader isn't best practice, but when you're on the way to the stand or need to check your cameras really quick, this is the best option!

I always had issues with cards getting corrupted by card readers and I stopped using them all together. I have this reader now it’s everything has been fine
I bought the Apple reader. I have downloaded a few times, but now it doesnt seem to recognize the reader… nothing happens when I plug it in. Tried several cards. Nothing. It would appear that I have wasted my money 🤦♂️
This is going to be late, but they made it such a pain to go. It was in the “my files” app and I think you had to click it there and then go to the photos app. You could not find the device when you “select all” and click the share symbol. I think you had to go to “export the unmodified originals”, but it never said to and so I wasn’t sure where all my photos were going. Does Apple care most its customers are not tech savvy-or not with their tech? Do any companies making tech? At least we can check the internet, because I remember trying to program the vcr before RUclips.
Ive got androind phone n have used stealth cam reader for years no issues, jus uses alot of phone battery but no issues

Don’t get me wrong some of those readers are great! But my dad and I use the stealth cam card reader and you don’t even need an app on your phone. It costs like 50 bucks and it works better than the phone card readers. And it is a little bit bulkier than a phone but you don’t need an service to check your cards
I use the same thing and it works good for me the only bad thing I can think of with it is it really eats the batteries at least mine does.

The transfer methods shown in this video don't work on either of my iPhones, one new and one old. An "Import" icon simply does not show on my phones as it does in this video, and importing in files doesn't work as demonstrated, as well. If there's a special app, or a specific setting required to make these methods work it should be explained in the video.

When you have an iPhone, only use the Apple SD card reader. Then when you download the pics to your phone, insert the card back into the camera, format it and you’re good to go. 👍

I should’ve purchased the apple one years ago. Always struggled with readers and just recently had issues with cards being completely deleted/corrupted without even seeing the pictures.

Well that answered a lot of my questions I want to get the SD card reader for my iPhone book? Does it have a problem with certain SD cards? Such as limits on gigabytes, or type of SD card used? Such as the newest Sony tough cards which is what I use in my Nikon, great video and thanks for any reply

Hello. I appreciate that you made this video. I have been disappointed by other SD card readers so did purchase an Apple reader which works great. I have tried to use the File Folder option to view photos without having to download them, but I only have the options of iCloud Drive, on my iPhone, and Recently Deleted when I connect the lightning connector and insert an SD card. I am currently using IOS 12.0.1 on an iPhone 7. Do you know if this is an issue with my phone version or IOS version? Thank you.
Hey Lisa! Thanks for watching and asking this question. Everyone here is using an iphone 10 or newer so I cannot be certain. However, I would guess that the option is there for you but maybe located in a different area. You could always create a new folder and then use ON MY iPHONE to select the created folder. All you do is open the files folder and look for no ? File pick that and it opens your card reader

I record my pool league games and I don’t have storage on my phone. I was seeing if a SD card adapter would work on my iPhone and having the SD card in the adapter would expand my storage so when I record it’d go on the SD card.

I’m only getting the file with no picture. Will not show me anything other than PDF with a red exclamation mark in a circle. Am I doing something wrong? My card shows 103 photos but I can’t view them no matter what way I try to do it. Not working in photos or files. Any suggestions?

Currently I have older Macbook pro with usb a and will upgrade to 16 inch Macbook Pro sometime later, i need to read microsd card now but the MBP build in SD card reader failed but not often, what cheapest way do you recommend? Shoukd i still get usb a dongle or get a usb c dongle with usb c to a convert而so i can use the dongle later without waste it?
I tried on them once I put the memory card back into my camera all my files were deleted. Is there anyway to get them back? I really don’t want to loose those photos. Even then I put my SD card into the adapter and into my phone nothing even downloaded into my phone so I don’t have anything the files just seemed to disappear. Can anyone help?

My trail camera's are creating .avi files, is there a way to change the file type to an MP4 from the get go? is this a formatting issue that I need to address in the beginning? Thanks so much for the videos on SD cards and all the issues us hunters have with them. Sub'd
This is not a formatting issue. The .AVI extension is just from the chipset and codec used in the camera.
If you are using Apple products you are probably not able to view them with the default media player.
You can’t change them from the get go or directly from the camera. However, you can just use a different media player or program to convert the .avi files to MP4s. I would recommend VLC media player or premier pro.

Best reader i used for an iPhone was from apple also and all the rest are garbage. I use android now and haven't found a good one yet, as a matter fact I had all the pics deleted from my card last week because of the reader.
