Also one reason you can kind of get away with scooping the mids so much when using an overdrive is that usually overdrive pedals have a decent bit of mid boost to their tone, and no way to really adjust that on the pedal. Especially if it’s based off of a tube screamer ‘cause they do the same thing. So you’re really taking the mids back down to where they would typically be for your tone.
