I love your lessons, I appreciate someone teaching how to play extreme music without making it overcomplicated. I've only ever done strict down picking for years so this lesson helps a lot 😂
Thanks for checking out the video and leaving such positive feedback , I started uploading 5 weeks ago to help some friends and I'm really suprised by the current growth in subscribers .
@@DUNN.. your vids are awesome and very helpful so I can see why. Your channel is definitely a haven for anyone learning to play old school death metal and stuff like that.
@@russiangoose7053 I'm 47 so I'm definitely old school , love Carcass,Deicide,Napalm Death,Obituary all the legends of that era plus I'm inspired by the younger players and Grindcore and Black Metal
Thank you so much for your knowledge and insight. It really helps a beginner who doesn't know quite what to focus on like me. The death metal touch is a wonderful bonus.
Great point out holding the pick. Pretty sure I've playing with too much pick out. Pick angle would have been a good thing to cover too. When you go from down strokes to gallops and tremolo, I can see your knuckle position shift slightly. I assume this is to change the angle of the pick. If you happen to end up doing a revision of this video at some point, I'd recommend setting the camera up close with an, almost but not quite, "down the neck" shot so the pick can be seen while playing. Maybe at about 7th or 9th fret (or whatever depending on your lens), with a lot of lighting so the aperture can close up a bit and give a good depth of field (ie more of the shot is in focus at the same time). I'd use manual focus for that one, because I can imagine the camera getting confused and constantly shifting focus.
Thanks for those tips my camera work is amateur and I’m using work lights as my lighting 😂 I unconsciously shift angles and not sure what I’m doing and totally freestyled the video . I value constructive feedback and appreciate you taking the time to help me improve, thanks 🤘❤️🤘
Seeing your Arrow is making me jealous because I just ordered an LTD Arrow-1000, it was an absolute steal at $700 but then my order got cancelled and now I am left without an Arrow.
Hey Dunn, think I've watched a number of your older videos before but going through again to see what I might have missed as well as to help your channel as per what you mentioned in today's video 🤘 Question re picks - do you use a thicker one with thicker strings? Most of my guitars are 6 string standard tuning with either 9-42 or 10-46 depending on scale length. I'm using the Kirk Hammett Jazz III which I think is 1mm. I just got my first 7 string, 26.5" with 10-59. The Kirk pick still feels good but thinking about trying something thicker for it.
@@iduncanw thank you for checking out more videos. Thickest I use is 1.5 mm but I also like 1.0 mm . I use the jazz3 XL and tortex T3’s been liking a bigger pick again lately. I even use the green.88 mm sometimes I’d always recommend experimenting and see what feels best for you.
@DUNN.. thanks mate, I'll look around. Sometimes shops have single picks but not of everything they sell. I wanted to try the Hetfield white fang, but they're nearly $20 for 6.

I was also looking at getting one of those clamps that holds your phone for closeups but there hard to get
Your first mash between downpicking and triplets sounded like omerta by lamb of god 👌
Awesome band to learn from, thanks for checking out the video 🤘❤️🤘

That sucks, you might be lucky and find another bargain again
