I really like the way you took a bit of time to tell stories behind the riffs rather than just hammering out 10 riffs like the "standard" youtube format
Finally, I get to be the time stamp guy. You're the man, chopper. I must say, I'm quite surprised there is no Lamb of God on your favorites list!!! 1:12 : Megadeth - Conquer or Die 1:50 : Pantera - Cemetery Gates 2:55 : Metallica - Fade to Black 3:55 : Exodus - Funeral Hymm 4:35 : Ozzy/Randy Rhoads - Diary of a Madman 5:50 : Slayer - South of Heaven 6:55 : Megadeth - Holy Wars...The Punishment Due 8:10 : Pantera - Floods 9:20 : Metallica - Orion 10:25 : Raining Blood - Slayer
@@LambChopper678 Hell yeah, thats what I like to hear! - Glad to see you replied, been a fan for years. High quality, accurate playing. Always excited to see your vids! Thank you!
I really liked how imperfect the playing is and how the chosen riffs are not the first riff you can think of from those bands. Very sincere video. Oh and the bird is awesome.
It made me smile that when you play the chords in the chorus of Orion, your foot imitates the bass drum like what I do hahaha. Love the video as always!
And Orion is still to this day one of the most emotional Metallica songs to me - and really right up there with it is To Live is to Die ...if you’re our age and can still hear , you owe it to yourself to listen to both of these several times with a good set of cans. Lambchopper I’ve been with you since the beginning brother .You’ve taught me so much about playing guitar. thank you for all you do.
Man you need to search on youtube, "Dimebag Solo Born In the Basement" for a beautiful high quality version of his early solo spot you were talking about
I feel the appreciation for South Of Heaven is along the lines of those who get it and those who don't. That intangible heavyness by the slowing of the groove, ... but you nailed it. Definitely share the same appreciation for that song!
I'm pretty sure Kiko wrote Conquer Or Die, almost entirely... I'm brazilian, and I think he said that in one of his videos in portuguese, but can't remember 100% surely. Great selection milord. Master Of Puppets and Holy Wars main riffs are my top 1, hands down, I can vibe and headbang into these songs until I die. But Orion/Hangar 18 are f*cking master pieces, I love Cliff's love & strength, and I love Marty/Dave harmony, the "solo duet" in the end of H18 it's unbeliavable. Keep it up, love your vids and tones!
For sure. The whole song is a complete masterpiece from start to finish. Even the most anti metal musos in the 90s would still stop and listen to that intro. It was always mustaines voice that would get it kicked from the college class. But them riffs. Monumental!!!
That really is so much fun to play. It's controlled chaos most of the way through, it's one of those songs where if you lose that flow whilst playing it feels as if you almost lose the whole song.
My favorite riff of all time is probably the riff in eye of the beholder the part after the intro. And I love the south of heaven riff. And hanger 18 metal is just filled with great riffs. Thank you for making this video you are the best.
Right before you mentioned Floods, I had the riff playing in my head. Somehow I sensed it was going to be next when you talked about it being "emotional". Probably my overall favorite Pantera riff and song. Love the Deth, Metallica, and Slayer mentions too. I'm a thrash head myself and ever since I started playing guitar, thrash always just excited me and made me want to play faster. Deth is probably my favorite of the bunch though. Cheers brother!
Man we have very very similar tastes, my favorite metallica song is orion and we are both obsessed with getting the perfect tone from each album this channel should be more known. much respect
It's incredible to me - I spent my formative years (young teenager) a half a world away, and if I had to come up with my favorite riffs of all time, they would mirror yours almost exactly. I think I would've included the ending of AJFA and Dead Skin Mask. But that's it. Awesome job, mate! Keep on rocking \m/!
Really interesting how quite a few of your favourite riffs are some of the slower ones by those artists! I wouldn't have picked that as you're such a thrash fan. Wouldn't have expected South of Heaven to be on your list, for example. I loved this. Great video!
For me I love the Orion riffs, but the stand out on that song is Cliff, those are just the absolute best bass riffs of all time in my opinion! Also that Floods tone is absolute awesome, sounds phenomenal!
Love to see another version of this my top 10 Favorite (EZ to Play) Guitar Riffs..great work...and was cool to not sit thru the usual lists you would hear from people
Love that Holt Funeral Hymn riff. Enjoyed your cover of that one. Hope you do a remake sometime! Also, you're the first person I've ever heard say Orion is their favorite Metallica song, other than me. Cheers mate!
I personally prefer when you attach tabs , it's lot of fun to play along with a guitar, it develops the skills, however respect for what you are doing man
Great stuff man! I think every electric guitarist would do well to put together a list. Although 2 out of your top 10 I have on my list already, it doesn't make it any easier to select the rest, given that every riff is a 10/10. Cheers.
I love Conquer or Die as well, the entire song. I wish people will give the newer stuff a chance instead of being so stuck in whatever happened over 30 years ago. All awesome selections, great taste, thank you!
The parrot really loves some riff's. Been watching your video's and damn you can play. Some really good stuff. I picked few lick's from your vid's mate. Now i'm a subscriber. Thanks for these great vid's mate.
This is a great top 10, I'm VERY happy that you added floods, one of my favorite pantera songs. This is a heavy and emotional list just like pantera's ballads.
Love your videos man, but my inner ocd couldn’t help but notice when you said vulgar display of power, I know you meant cowboys from hell, but at least you displayed the proper album cover
It's kinda surprising to see so many old riffs as your favorites, but it's so kewl to see that there a few that we share as similar inspirations. South of Heaven, Orion, Fade to Black and Holy Wars were all songs i just HAD to learn lol.
Some poor mind is gonna see you playing metallica with a dave mustaine's signature and go crazy about it ahhaha ME? I just love your style man, nice background stories before each riff... amazing gear too! I love that guitar and the jackson flying V
The parrot must be in all of your videos moving forward.
I'm looking forward to seeing the parrot headbang in time with thrash metal

I think Floods is one of the most unique songs ever.
The solo from floods is hands down one of the greatest things dime ever did. The ammount of soul coming out of that riff is absurd.
Came for the bird, stayed for the riffs.
Your presentation and on screen comfort has come a long way. Kudos!
Diary of a Madman is chocked full of the best riffs in metal. That song still gives me chills.
D standard makes every riff sound amazing. Funeral hymn is my favorite Exodus song
Best tuning ever

I love this channel because lambchopper loves thrash metal as much as I do and as a “thrash metal elitist” I appreciate that
God Damn Man... That riff on Floods gets me every time! Well played!!
I was hoping that part of holy wars was in here. absolutely delightful dude

conquer or die riff sounds something like kiko would write
It also has a bit of the Five Magics intro in it, so it could also be Dave.
It seems to me similar to The Call Of Ktulu
Kiko wrote it
I think Kiko wrote it because Conquer or Die is like Kiko's song in the album
