This game is heat! Can't wait to jump in!
We need you, Brother!
40k came first, many years before Gears. The very first edition of the tabletop launched in 1983, so its had over 40 years of lore. Highly recommend jumping in, its such an awesome and grimdark universe
Ok, I think Warhammer might have Gears beat by a few years lol But that is awesome! Glad this game is bringing more people to the franchise. I'll check it out!
@@discerningmood2674 oh ok, well I’m glad they went the Gears route with the gameplay
@@NDOvert gears was rumoured (or starcraft, rumours vary) to be either inspired by or a Warhammer 40k game which Games Workshop got cold feet and pulled the plug, and they repurposed the assets. gears was definitely inspired by warhammer 40k though
@@discerningmood2674 It is true that Gears of War did the over the shoulder view before the first Space Marine was made (they werent the first with the over the shoulder look though). That said, the aesthetics of the world, Chainsaw weapons, big guys with big armor, etc. Warhammer 40k did have since 1987 (Warhammer fantasy came out in 83, 40k came out in 87). It would be really difficult for there to be a Warhammer 40k game where you play as a Space Marine that wouldn't look a lot like a Gears of War game, as a lot of the things Gears of War has looks a lot like Warhammer 40k in terms of worldbuilding and general feel (which Warhammer 40k did have first).
@@discerningmood2674 The Gears relied quite a lot on cover system. In Warhammer you are the cover xD
Whoever is doing the edits is killin it.
Shoutout to my cousin @NoirKane!
Ayyy appreciate that!
"Why do we seem like the bad guys?"
You're beginning to understand.
We’re the good guys right? 😅……RIGHT!? 😳
@@NDOvertWarhammer 40k is a setting where no one is really the good guy. The Imperium (which space marines are super soldiers of) considers non-humans to be filth, heretics to be worse, and will outright destroy planets if they're losing battles (the Death Star is just another Tuesday in 40k). But there's also space elves that would sacrifice billions of humans to save just one of their own, evil space elves that literally feed on suffering, demons and heretics that want to literally bring hell into the real world and have hell consume the entire galaxy, Tyranids are an all-consuming horde that are heavily implied to have devoured entire galaxies, and some other factions. There are some good guy subfactions within the Imperium like the Salamanders and Lamenters, but all the larger powers that be aren't exactly good guys
It is heresy to put the name gears in such a title your penance will 100 years of service in the death watch
I’ll serve with honor!
@@NDOvert for the primarch
I've been a 40k fan for about 10 years, and I love the game. I think they did a great job, the coop missions are fun and I'm looking forward to the private lobby update.
Couldn't agree more!
Rick Priestley invented the universe in 1983 but I think it was 1987 the first full edition of the rules came out . The rulebook was a work of art in itself will full on paintings, pencil scetches, bits of Lore and introduced some fantastic characters. Most of all it fully established the "grimdark" ethos , this era is not mankind at its peak (say like Star Trek) it is a galaxy where superstition has replaced technology, the imperium is fraying at the edges and humanity is beset by enemies on all sides.
gotta love the ol Reeky Deekus system
🤣🤣🤣
@@NDOvert low key, latin sounds like that though. Veeery easy to make that mistake coming from a mainly germanic/danish constenent structure, linguistically speaking.
Kindergarten, goodnight, goodmorning, all strait up german.
If its english and is two other words at once, it is germanic structure.
Instead of latin’s immolator, we have flame throwers.
Latin has like, 15 suffixes that point to various people in the same discussion, via pronoun.
Latin has 15 versions of “them”
@@MrGaleanon yeah I was definitely going for the Latin pronunciation when I was reading it haha jk but wow that’s cool to know!
Alot of game franchises took inspiration from Warhammer 40k.
Halo, Gears of War, Starcraft and Helldiver etc.
Gears of War took inspiration from 40k with muscled guys in heavy armor and chainsaw weapon the difference is that Marcus Fenix is a normal soldier/Gear who join the regular army and not a genetically enhanced super soldier lol.
The Spartan-IIs from Halo like Master Chief took inspiration from the Space Marines of Warhammer 40k.
Example
Spartan-IIs of Halo are trained as children 6 years old then genetically enhanced to become super soldiers and put in power armor that enhances their already enhanced strength and speed to become the defenders of humanity.
40k Space Marines are trained as children 10 to 11 years old then genetically enhanced to become super soldiers in power armor that enhances their already enhanced strength and speed made to be the defenders of humanity.
You are missing, perhaps, the biggest franchise to take direct inspiration from 40k - The Warcraft universe, i.e., WoW. It started out as a product for Warhammer, but Games Workshop, for some reason, pulled out of it. So the devs renamed things, changed other things and went ahead with it.
@angelobrewster6293 Yeah during my stream someone was telling me about some of the lore. It is crazy!
@@stuffmcstuff399dang they kind of missed out on a check, hunh? 😂
the spartans kids were also kidnapped and replaced with clones genetically designed to get sick with an uncurable illness and die quickly.
"Why do we seem like the bad guys"... because you are. But that's OK because everyone is the bad guy. Also crossplay is a thing.
Did they make the crossplay available for PC and console players able to play Eternal War together? That’s the mode I’m trying to play with my friends
Ayyyyeee so glad to see another upload and it definitely didn’t disappoint
Thank you! Trying to get more content out regularly
Welcome to the grim darkness of 40K, Brother! It's a deep well of lore to fall into...
Thanks, Brother!
Idk you so curious, are you a old gears player or just something you've played and comparing this to? I enjoy the game. Some pvp balancing is needed but it's fun. I'm on xbox
I’ve been playing every Gears of War since it released in 2006. It is one of my favorite gaming franchises of all time. Yeah I played a little PvP and I’m enjoying it. I should have that video coming out soon. I wish we could play together but I’m on PC 🥲 I hope they add crossplay for PvP
bruh the "MINE MINE MINE" got me rolling! That shit was unexpected for real
🤣🤣🤣
@@NDOvert Definitely gonna steal that at some point haha. Didn't watch more than that bit at the start tho. Am getting my copy of the game a little late so I'm tryna avoid as much spoilers as possible. Hope you have a good time playing tho.
@@TheBroGamer14082 haha aite and yeah I get it I try to avoid spoilers as well. Hope you get the game soon, it is a lot of fun! Thanks for watching
@@NDOvert I appreciate it m8.
