I'm curious because I didn't see a wood stove but I may be blind and if so how do you store your tinder for the winter? and what do you do for food? Is it legal to just build a little place in a national park or are you on someone's property farther off? I'm wondering how I could pursue this myself.
- Question (1) "How did you build your house?" If you look back at one of my older videos you'll see one called "building my place" that kind of shows the process. I built this place using dead-wood (branches that fell from the trees and I collected) and I built it in the style of a shed-roof trapper's tilt. A good book that will give you tons of ideas is called Shelters, Shacks and Shanties by D.C. Beard. - Question (2) "How do you keep warm?" I keep warm with a 0° sleeping bag, an extra fleece blanket, socks and my cast iron firepit! My best advice would be to line your sleepingbag with a blanket and build a stone floor. It reflects the heat right back at you, it actually gets so hot in here with the fire going that sometimes I need to step outside. And in the summer the stone stays ice cold, which is great since it has gotten above 120°f/49°c a couple times recently! - Question (3) "What do you do for food?" For food I eat just like you do, I go to the store! I garden, can-pickle, forage, collect gooseberries and elderberries and nettle to add variety and extra vitamins and minerals and antioxidants, but the main part of my diet comes from what I buy at the general store in town (pasta, canned ham, smoked sausage, seal-packaged tuna and salmon, etc) and my money comes from doing labor on horse ranches in the farm communities. - Question (4) "Is it legal to build a little place in a national park or are you on someone's property?" It's highly illegal, I'm risking a $1000 fine just for "erecting an illegal dwelling". But you only get in trouble if you get caught ;) And even then, goodluck making a poor man pay a fine! @@ForestAnon I could be wrong but I'm fairly certain your instagram account is tagged or something as a result of their investigation. This is because I visited it a few months ago and Instagram immediately logged me out asking me to verify my account with my phone number which led to me getting indefinitely suspended because I used a fake phone number lol. Kinda sucks cause it was my personal account I used to connect with my old friends from school and I never did anything weird on it but whatever, guess it keeps me from melting my brain all day

Aghh yes. I felt as if this was coming because of the similarities between Uni and your lifestyle. The FED's only meet a few people as you so they probably wanted to know more about your beliefs. Proper protocol to investigate someone that fits a certain belief set and stands out. At least they didn't discriminate or find a reason to bring the heat on you. Hey I'm just wondering how did you build your house, and how do you keep it warm during the winter? I'm curious because I didn't see a wood stove but I may be blind and if so how do you store your tinder for the winter? and what do you do for food? Is it legal to just build a little place in a national park or are you on someone's property farther off? I'm wondering how I could pursue this myself.
Give me one sec gonna reply to each of these in detail 👊🏻
- Question (1) "How did you build your house?"
If you look back at one of my older videos you'll see one called "building my place" that kind of shows the process. I built this place using dead-wood (branches that fell from the trees and I collected) and I built it in the style of a shed-roof trapper's tilt. A good book that will give you tons of ideas is called Shelters, Shacks and Shanties by D.C. Beard.
- Question (2) "How do you keep warm?"
I keep warm with a 0° sleeping bag, an extra fleece blanket, socks and my cast iron firepit! My best advice would be to line your sleepingbag with a blanket and build a stone floor. It reflects the heat right back at you, it actually gets so hot in here with the fire going that sometimes I need to step outside. And in the summer the stone stays ice cold, which is great since it has gotten above 120°f/49°c a couple times recently!
- Question (3) "What do you do for food?"
For food I eat just like you do, I go to the store! I garden, can-pickle, forage, collect gooseberries and elderberries and nettle to add variety and extra vitamins and minerals and antioxidants, but the main part of my diet comes from what I buy at the general store in town (pasta, canned ham, smoked sausage, seal-packaged tuna and salmon, etc) and my money comes from doing labor on horse ranches in the farm communities.
- Question (4) "Is it legal to build a little place in a national park or are you on someone's property?"
It's highly illegal, I'm risking a $1000 fine just for "erecting an illegal dwelling". But you only get in trouble if you get caught ;) And even then, goodluck making a poor man pay a fine!
