Nhl just making an excuse for a poorly thought out way to generate more revenue. The concept in itself isn’t bad (to me) however with the low grade quality of the digital placement which “glitches” when real life action occurs in front of it its absolutely horrible. The nhl refuses to remedy the issue(that I know of) while that situation transpires. Hopefully, in the future, they do improve the lazy and thoughtless quality... I dont see the problem going away anytime soon (it would cost more $ to do so…) What also is problematic is the action or movement with the advertising while play is going on in the same “zone”. A total distraction or even a “loss” of play if the puck goes close or the play goes near where the moving advertising is going on. Yes, its just my observations but I hate being distracted watching the play disappear both on and off the puck due to “glitches” or a rolling tire 🛞 car advertisement.
Conceptually, they're a pretty good idea and would not do anything to actually detract from viewer experience. In execution, they can be a total blight to the ability to enjoy or even see the game. Bridging this gap taking this long is what draws the real criticism. Everyone knows sports have to make money, but making money at the direct expense of the product quality is not acceptable in any industry.
Because they’ve actively made the experience of watching NHL games much worse. If it glitches out for only 1 second, that’s 1 more second than the normal boards would’ve glitched. And to your point, there’s ALREADY ADS ON THE BOARDS. So they’re making my viewing experience worse just to replace ads with more ads and try to sell me some bs while I’m watching a hockey game on a streaming service I pay for that also includes commercial breaks for , guess what, MORE ADS! And now we’ve already started putting ads on jerseys, and helmets, and putting another one on each year until the Montreal canadiens jersey looks like one of those horrific euro league jerseys. People are sick of it.
I've always been a big fan of players disappearing behind the ads really adds to the viewing immersion

Wish I could adblock them.

LOL yes
I don’t look at the ads at all to be honest. I just feel bad for the people paying for “real life” board ads that aren’t seen on tv
they never rlly distract me, idk why people lose their minds over nhl replacing ads with ads
It's a plague to the game
oh no the NHL making money so sad.@@Plinkofficial

Go watch your local beer league games then if you're so tired of ads.@@bartholomewesperanza3442
