    I am half jamaican and have been to there 3 times in my lifetime unfortunately You have gone to the WRONG resort in Montego Bay. The sandals hotel is good, RIU and my favourite is Holiday inn Resort its close to the airport very good hotel!!! The beach is well looked after, drinks and food huts all over the service and respect from staff is unreal you feel loved and at home the Adults drinking pool as well as jacuzzis definitely cheaper and worth it. I would not have signed the NDA for only 2 nights compensation...you have a lot of influence with your RUclips following and being able to show people the real experience the good and bad- and many travel bloggers actually get PAID for it and are not spending their own money to stay there. The entire trip should have been reimbursed PLUS monetary compensation.

    • @BlissGroove
      @BlissGroove Год назад +12

      😂 2 nights is $669 all inclusive. I've been to Jamaica several times and I book a 5 bedroom 7k sq ft home with pool overlooking Montego Bay. We pay $500/night and comes with staff. Staying at this gated community gives us access to Round Hill Resort for free. This vloggers is messing with the viewers. I have the screen shot to prove that he didn't pay thousands. And as a seasoned RUclips, he should know better. I'm the kind of traveller that stays in a resort in Maui for $200/night instead of $500. It's called research.

I stayed at luxury Bahia principe twice and let me tell you the staff from the front desk to the guys that clean up the beach are amazing! It was my first time in Jamaica and I’m glad I chose them. The hostess girls that work at the Jasmine are so sweet and the same goes for the girls at the pool restaurant and the front desk ladies as well. Even the girl who books the excursions. She remembered me my second time and gave me the biggest hug. She saw me before I even saw her. They see so many people that I was shocked she remembered me. My lady who cleaned my room was the sweetest as well. I like how l had the same staff for my entire week. I’m going to make a video about them because the staff there deserves all the praise. It's sad to see the deterioration of the beaches at the Grand Palladium. We lived for almost three years in Jamaica from 2009 to 2011 and stayed at the Palladium several times. Back then, the beaches were fine and obviously better maintained. Our only complaint was the beach to the far left that seemed to have been built atop chopped out mangroves and then topped up with sand brought from elsewhere (common in Jamaica.) The bottoms in these felt muddy, but they're generally clean albeit not great for off-shore snorkeling. We stayed at all the major chain all-inclusives (Sandals, RIU, etc) as well as many boutique hotels. Our preferences were almost all in Negril, both on the main long beach but also some of the really cool hotels on the cliffs. For villas, we had dozens of great stays in private villas in Silver Sands, about half way between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios. Actually, our least favorite area was Montego Bay.

Then the island was divided and the west became these disgusting all-inclusive massive entities who pay their employees in dirt.
      You can still find a genuine side of the island in the east but the crime from Kingston and the class system which came into play after these "resorts" took over is disgusting.

The rooms could use a little updating but our room was cleaned daily and when I needed the iron replaced, they brought a replacement within 10 minutes. You can definitely smell mildew because they do not have a good air circulation system but overall, we had a great time. Everyone gets stressed and just because they are relocating, renovating, updating, staff shortage does not matter. Glad you got sorted eventually but seems like your bummer was experienced by many. Not good. Maybe a couple of nights with cooll staff would be ok but we do prefer being among the people of where ever we go. Liked the Infinity pool and bar! Also that sheltered spot on the coast with the sea and small cove.

They probably had a staff ask him what he was filming for and saw his channel and saw oh this man will be in our country for a while he is making videos and they smart they know having a customer go on RUclips they lose customers. Either way he still should have gotten what he paid for he purchased a king room and got two doubles without the view that wasn't okay and check in time should be earlier I work with hotels and resorts and its crazy people spending $4-600 a night or more and cant go in the room until 3 or 4 pm isnt right everyone wants earlier check in very few people say late check in

    Great series of JA videos, Chris! The front desk problems are unfortunate, but appear to result from resorts prioritizing members before the general public as rooms are available to them first, creating a cascade of events that may result in non-member not getting their rooms on time or at all. The front desk is then tasked with the burden of having to inform non-member the rooms are not available (this may explain their attitude/demeanor). The problem is from top down decisions!

Some problems like the a/c not working or the in room safe or tv was broke but, we reported the problems and they were fixed immediately. All inclusives are not cheap but, the great thing about Sandals is regardless of what you pay or how often you've visited, you are treated with the same great service. I would’ve been highly disappointed with the treatment that you received upon check-in. That is totally unacceptable and for that reason, I will not visit that resort. I travel with my young girls who want activities during the day and want to see other people in their age group, so all inclusives provide something for everyone and added security for my daughters. I am currently planning a trip to Jamaica with my entire family. There will be about 10 of us. I've been many, many times in years past, and always travel like you. I love experiencing, as much as possible, the realness of a place. If you stay on a resort, you could be anywhere in the world. You're typically not getting the experience of a place if you stay on a resort. I get it. Get out and play with locals. I've typically hunkered down in Silver Sands and traveled around the island during my stays. I even got married, the first time (tee hee), in Negril, but again, I'll do it a little differently this trip. I want to pass on the travel bug to my kids. If we experienced what you did, they would have a tainted view of the island and I don't want that. I'm looking for an all inclusive that meets our needs ( we have a kiddo in a wheelchair) and standards. Thank you for this review. I've been searching for our hotel and now I have one less to review thanks to you. You've saved me and THEM quite honestly, from the wrath that would ensue if I'd experienced anything close to what you had to endure. This has been really helpful. I am really happy that your trip ended well but will take a HARD PASS on this resort.

It was late afternoon, we were the only ones left in the pool. all the other guest left to go to dinner. The only people around were the life guards. I got out and left my sister and two cousins. 30 minutes later my sister came to the room and said all her stuff was gone. I went to security, they were so rude and said they had to search her room because they feel she is lying. She allowed them to search. They didn't find anything. I went to management and asked them to look at the camera, as there was a camera facing where she was located by the pool. They said that camera is for the live feed for their web page. Management said they will look into it but there is nothing they can do and this never happened before. As the days went on the staff, security, lifeguards etc were being so rude to us. We felt so unsafe. We started talking to the other guest about what happened to us so they can be aware. well, we were not the only ones. A lot of other guest were getting robbed , even their rooms were broken into. I continued to check with management for updates. They kept saying its not any of their staff doing this and it has to be another guest . As compensation, they offered us 3 additional free nights for 4 people. Smartest thing to do :-). I even see Jamaicans going to Jamaica and doing all that you’re better off getting a bnb and I keep telling people stop doing tourist stuff and go with the locals. 1 they don’t give back to our country I mean they provide employment that’s about it a white man from some other country owns these places and the experience is never authentic Jamaica.

    Good comprehensive review. Glad everything worked out in the end. Wondering if you booked your reservation on a third party site? If third party site guaranteed you a king they were lying. And the price you paid was outrageous. GP's website doesnt allow you to specify king versus double, and as a Club member I can request a King bed but it's not guaranteed. In fact I had the same problem at a different GP resort last year where my first night was in a double because no king rooms were available at check in. Agree that front desk needed to handle it better but who knows what was going on behind the scenes to cause so many others to have room issues at the same time. Last, if your overall feeling at the end of the stay was mostly positive aside from check in, why title the video "NIGHTMARE?"

    In 2022, 40 of us went down for a wedding. We all had trouble getting our rooms, almost 7pm before we got checked into a room. The check in counter was horrible, and they kept saying the wedding, that had been paid for a year earlier, hadn’t been paid for. Took the brides family almost a week of arguing before the hotel finally admitted it was paid for. The rest of the staff and food was incredible. Then come checkout time, the bus that was to take us back to the airport was two hours late, causing us to almost miss our flight home. I agree customer service needed a lot better training.

      Remember, there are at least two sides to every story. We were just presented with his side. So, you are just commenting on his version of events which is not a balanced view. Wouldn't it be better if we saw and heard what the management people said and did to make a fair judgement before saying, "sad to see how you were treated... etc.". The crass, vulgar expressions of the guests who commented in the vlog was disturbing, to say the least. The police had to be called. Jamaica does not need tourists with such bad behaviour. One has to be mindful of what one post because of the impact. A lot of people are reactionary to what other people say and make decisions based on someone else's experiences instead of seeing for themselves. Jamaica has been in the tourism/hospitality business for decades; from the days of celebrities like Errol Flynn, Noel Coward, Mick Jagger, Johnny Cash, Elizabeth Taylor, Martin Luther King etc. There is always room for improvement and thankfully the people who have visited, had a great experience and keep returning outnumber those who have not. Hope Chris finds the perfect vacation and country.

I worked cleaning at hotel in America and sometimes on weekends the rooms are all booked and we have to wait until customers leave to clean and sometimes they stay past the time limit . So when someone comes early the desk person informs us to do that certain room so customers end up waiting for us to clean . Our hotel hires more people to work on weekend but some workers don’t show up then rest of us has more work to do . Hope this helps you .

    Wow! I'm so sorry for your experience. I started traveling to Jamaica in 2017. I have a membership at Iberostar in Rose Hall (right outside Iberostar) and I absolutely love it. However, if you can force yourself to live without an all-inclusive, I would recommend Treehouse in Negril, which is located on 7-Mile Beach. The 7-Mile Beach experience is incomparable! (FYI, that "speaking with a supervisor" method of resolving issues in Jamaica does not work. It's like being in Rome: DO AS THEY DO! Leave your entitlement at home. I learned that from experience. I now live in Jamaica and I'm saving so much money than if I were paying a nightly hotel rate.

    Chris, Sorry the negative experience in the beginning, happened to you. I am glad that you are able to advocate for yourself and Gladys to have things done right that should not happened wrong in the first place. I appreciate your valuable feedback especially since your video provided proof of these bad incidences. I am shocked that the front reception smashed your camera when simply the guest was providing their own truths of what they went through. Therefore, I will NOT CHOOSE THE GRAND PALLADIUM as my next vacation. I was not happy with Riu Palace Tropical Bay because the housekeeping did not provide me the service and stole my clothes!

    Great video. And I love your detailed feedback. I’ve been to Jamaica four times and stayed in Montego Bay each time. Never at the grand palladium though. The island is beautiful, the culture is amazing, the music the food, etc. I’m going to try to be as diplomatic as I can, if you want to travel someplace, that’s going to roll out the red carpet for you and give you top notch customer service, that is probably not the best island. 🤷🏾‍♀️ again, the culture is awesome & it’s aesthetically pleasing, but at the end of the day that may come with a sacrifice of service. Would I go again? Absolutely! But I know what to expect. I stay at Riu. It’s just one of those escape from my every day life and enjoy the sun kind of places. If I’m paying money, I should get great service, but I’ve learned to settle which can be unfortunate depending on what I’m seeking.
