Even more beautiful in light of the later video talking about how Eddy was unable to perform this in Uni, because of his issues with health and anxiety. That “you did it”...
This is why a professional science teacher can roast even the most enthusiastic and determined learners who don’t have the aptitude and talent to excel in science. No. I agree with the previous comment. It should be within means. Anyway, Eddy did very well. I think he did Sibelius better than Brett did Tchaikovsky. They look much prepared here. And Brett played the orchestra parts very well. To play the orchestra parts like that, one has to understand each instrument’s nuance. Very impressive!
From Sweden! So sorry I missed the live but I work weekends😭 But so happy to wake up and see this amazing performance! WELL DONE BOTH OF YOU EUROPE LOVES YOU💜

Remember when Eddy was hesitant to play the Sibelius because it's much harder? But the fans kept pushing him into it so he finally decided to do it. And he nailed it! They did really great! It's amazing. Congrats, Twoset and to their 3 mil subscribers! ❤ PS. They said before they don't want this to be an ongoing tradition. Now, they are themselves asking what to do in 4 mil. They already accepted their fate. Lol. 😆
My sister’s water broke in the middle of the stream like an hour ago, I’m not kidding! Her partner rushed her off to hospital and I was just sitting there freaking out. All this was happening while there’s DRAMATIC AS HELL SIBELIUS PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND, the *t i m i n g* was hilarious😂😂 wish her luck! Edit: HE’S HERE EVERYONE! After 4 hours, baby Benjamin (Ben) is here and well. My sister is great too, just ridiculously tired lol. No, he wasn’t born holding a violin and no, I don’t think I’ll be able to convince her to name him Sibelius, lmao. He must have heard Brett and Eddy and thought *damn, that’s a sick tune* and come out to investigate😂 You guys are awesome, thanks for all the good wishes, I’m excited to be an auntie! Awesome music guys!
Hello there, I'm one of the timestamps guys from the Tchaikovsky drop, and now... my time has come. Introducing my new powers: Understanding musical forms and noticing even more random stuff. *WARNING: Extremely long wall of text.* *[TIMESTAMPS]* *-- (Before the concert) --* 0:00 - Stream starts. (if you're using earphone, only the left ear will get the audio) 0:05 - Brett says hello. 0:29 - Brett says hello. (2) 0:44 - LETS GO AYY 0:56 - Brett says hello. (3) 1:01 - "12000, 14000!, OOOOAOAO-" (yeah for real tho, the views gone up really fast) 1:13 - Brett says hello. (4) 1:19 - Eddy needs some water. (and screams off-screen lmao) 1:31 - "I'm not nervous at all" -Brett Yang, 2021. 1:41 - Introducing the mic. (better audio than last time but still only left ear works at this point) 2:16 - Brett introducing the Sibelius hoodie. (poor gang oof i can't buy it) 4:45 - Eddy notices people saying the audio is only on left ear. 5:07 - "One second guys.." _(the audio is actually fixed after one second lmao)_ 5:45 - The stream has a bit of delay so TwoSet still sees complains about the audio. (the chat is actually says the audio is fine now) 6:03 - Brett says hello. (5) 6:48 - TwoSet briefly disconnects to 'fix' the audio. 7:36 - "Why is people still saying only left ear- IT'S FIXED OH YES WOOOO" 8:00 - Warm up and tuning time. (also aww no balloon drops this time) 9:50 - Walking to stage and taking a bow. *-- Sibelius - Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 47 --* (Eddy = soloist, Brett = orchestra) -- I. Allegro moderato. (D minor, Sonata form) -- 10:48 - Start of the first movement: Orchestra playing a D minor chord gently. 10:56 - Soloist entrance: Introducing the first theme in D minor. 12:06 - Transition. 12:58 - These runs.. 13:37 - 1st tutti: Soloist plays an intense rising melody, then orchestra takes over. 14:18 - Orchestra introduces the 2nd theme in B-flat major. 14:37 - Soloist enters again. 14:50 - Soloist takes the 2nd theme and plays it in D-flat major. (THOSE DOUBLE STOPS AHHH SO GOOD) 15:59 - 2nd tutti: The music halts to a trill on the soloist, then orchestra takes over. 16:18 - Eddy vibes hard as soon as Brett plays the 2nd tutti. (For real tho this tutti is so epic) 17:50 - Development: Cadenza. (The orchestra dies out then soloist enters again) 20:47 - End of the cadenza. (Orchestra enters again, and now recapitulation time) 21:02 - Recap of the 1st theme, now in G minor. 21:57 - Transition. 22:37 - 3rd tutti: Soloist plays a very fast rising scale, then orchestra takes over. 22:47 - *Introducing new technology: Soloist plays with the orchestra in the tutti.* 23:53 - Recap of the 2nd theme, now in D major .(AHHH YESS THE DOUBLE STOPS) 24:28 - Modulates to F major. (relative major of D minor) 25:12 - The music halts again to a trill on the soloist. 25:17 - Brett sings the orchestra part because of page turn. 25:23 - The trills gets intense and the orchestra builds up, preparing us for the.. 25:26 - Coda: Basically 2nd tutti reused more epicly and now with the soloist playing a very epic melody. (WARNING: EPIC BANGER AND THOSE DESCENDING CHROMATIC OCTAVES YASSSSS) 26:12 - Just epic. 26:44 - End of the first movement. -- (Between the movements) -- 26:56 - Eddy notices everyone coughing lmao. (That's how you know it's a classical music concert) 27:11 - Reaction to 47k viewers and thanking the people who donated. 28:05 - Quick sweat wipe. -- II. Adagio di molto. (B-flat major, Ternary (or ABA) form) -- 28:24 - Start of the second movement: A short introduction by the orchestra. 28:56 - Soloist entrance: Introducing the main theme in B-flat major (Oh man.. what a very lyrical melody). 31:10 - Transition (and tutti i think?): Soloist ends the first theme, then orchestra takes over and plays quite a dissonant melody. 31:50 - Soloist enters again: Introducing the broody central section filled with polyrhythms and arpeggios. This section also explores a lot of other keys. 32:47 - Climax: Restatement of a part from the main theme, now spiced up with virtuosic ornamentations. (Eddy sees the light.. and oh man what a melody..) 33:33 - Broken octave scales, which brought us to.. 34:00 - Restatement of the main theme, still with spicy ornamentations. (And still very beautiful melody) 34:42 - Coda i think? 35:45 - End of the second movement. -- (Between the movements) -- 36:01 - Another viewers check, which shows 45k people. 36:14 - Brett: "Here we go guys, it's the funnest movement of them all." | Eddy: _(internal suffering)_ 36:43 - "I'll try my best." -- III. Allegro, ma non tanto. (D major, Sonata form) -- 36:58 - Start of the third movement: Orchestra plays a rhythmic motif on the note D. 37:06 - Soloist entrance: Introducing the first theme in D major, a very virtuosic melody. 38:12 - First tutti: Soloist plays a trill, then orchestra takes over. 38:22 - The orchestra introduces the 2nd theme in G minor. (very epic theme) 38:49 - Soloist enters again, takes the 2nd theme and plays a syncopated rhythmic variation of the 2nd theme. 39:02 - The soloist then plays the original 2nd theme with double and triple stops, accompanied by chromatic runs from the orchestra. 39:29 - Soloist plays virtuosic runs of 16th notes. (I think this is the closing section of the 2nd theme?) 39:50 - Development: Soloist plays a very virtuosic passage, starting with rising triplets and culminating with octave runs. 40:24 - Closing the development section. *(Soloist is also a page turner lmao)* 40:30 - Recap of the 1st theme: Orchestra plays a heavily ornamentated version of the opening of the 1st theme, then the soloist plays the rest of the first theme. 41:48 - Recap of the 2nd theme (now in D minor): Orchestra plays the 2nd theme, while the soloist plays a virtuosic countermelody consisted of trills and artificial harmonics. 42:31 - Soloist plays the 2nd theme with double stops, triple stops, and chords. 42:54 - Closing the recapitulation section: Soloist plays a continuous stream of 16th notes, culminating with virtuosic tenths in triplets. 43:38 - Coda (in D major): Very virtuosic passage that is consisted of octaves and runs. (epic af) 44:23 - End of the third movement. *-- (After the concert) --* 44:51 - Brett says hello (epic sequel) 44:58 - Shoutout to Sibelius for composing an amazing violin concerto. 45:28 - Reaction to getting 48k viewers. 46:18 - "What are you going to do for 4 mil?" 46:24 - Reminding us of the limited 3 mil merch. 47:08 - TwoSet reading the chat. 47:26 - TwoSet chatting about the performance. 47:56 - TwoSet talking about the old Tchaikovsky drop. 49:15 - _Encore?_ (oof no encore i guess my bach request is rejected) 51:22 - Wrap up. 52:05 - "What's next?" _(I vote Shostakovich 1)_ 53:13 - "Someone's like Ysaye 3- I'm not Vengerov guys" lmao 54:07 - Closing the stream. Edit: I saw some earlier timestamps comments, but they're gone now idk why.
Thank you for this! Things I noticed after watching for the 2nd time looking at the video instead of just audio: Eddy checking his pulse just before 1 min. Brett saying his hands are cold multiple times; he seemed even more nervous than Eddy and he also checked his pulse at around 4 mins. 2nd tutti in 1st movement is when Brett smiles a couple of times. Where was it in the second movement that they got out of time and what part was Brett referring to when he said he screwed up a bit?
These guys deserve mad respect for how they've brought classical music performance to normal people. Sure, most of us were/are orchestra dorks in high school, but think of the (as of February 10th) 620,404 people that have clicked on this and how many of them had little to no exposure to classical music before TwoSet. All the non-musicians who watched a 40 minute performance and realized they actually ENJOYED it lol TwoSet is the first group I've seen to bridge this gap in such a massive way-- and I hope they're not the last!
I'm one of those people who hadn't had any classical music exposure say not even an instrument.I'm obsessed with classical music and seen this very live about thrice.. Owe to tsv for making my days better!
As a classical musician, I have listened to many, many versions of this concerto. By no means is this the most technically flawless one, but the sheer amount of expression and emotion and just the risk taking puts this, for me, alongside the best recordings of Sibelius out there.

Their general body language is the same as in the Tchaik drop: When Eddy plays alone, Brett waits respectfully; when Brett plays alone, Eddy jumps around with music and generally acts silly. Which is funny as they've switched places.
sibelius stream viewed from the eyes of a perfect pitch gang, violinist of 6 months who's still working on his intonation in Vivaldi Violin Concerto in G major (lmao) edit : thank you to everyone who had pointed out the moments that I missed, you guys have made this list better and more perfect than ever :D __ Pre-Concert __ 0:00 - stream starts 1:02 - Eddy : "12 thousand, 14 thousa- oOOOHHH *moans while hugging curtain*" (we hit 48000 watchers lmao) 1:19 - Eddy : "alright i need some water", Brett : "alright see ya later" (it rhymes lmao) 1:30 - Brett : "actually you know what im not nervous at all *visually panicking*" 2:15 - Sibelius merch plug (but im broke-) 2:45 - M balloon stuck on Brett's nose, seems very proud of it (Brett, i mean) 2:53 - hmm that M balloon looks pretty, *ehememmemem*, vulgar 3:07 - shoutout to people from countries 3:27 - snouty Brett (muncung lmao) 4:00 - Brett checks his own pulse (15 beats/second probably) 4:44 - realization that they've been streaming with the right channel muted for about 5 minutes 5:11 - audio fixed 5:15 - Eddy : "oh im a technical genius" (still being unconfident lmao) 6:58 - stream restarts (despite audio being fixed), magically skips to 7:00 7:00 - Eddy now holds the balloon 7:38 - minor celebration of the fixed audio lmao (also rip balloon, got abandoned) 7:46 - Brett readopts balloon 7:57 - Brett : "so, *abandons 3M balloons yet again*" 8:03 - tuning (some people call it a variation of Berg's Violin Concerto but idk) 8:04 - brett puts away balloon (nooo balloon-chan) 8:09 - last appearance of balloon-chan (was never seen again) 9:12 - Brett : "should i just play offscreen (avoiding responsibilities lmao)", Eddy : "no" 9:52 - "walks offstage" to take a bow __ 1st movement __ 10:47 - 1st movement, Allegro moderato (The most famous movement) 10:47 - Exposition: Introduction (a soft, dissonant accompaniment from the orchestra) 10:56 - Exposition: First Subject, introduces the famous main theme of the first movement, the G-A-D motif 13:44 - Orchestral tutti, Eddy stops playing 13:48 - Exposition: Transition 14:20 - Exposition: Second Subject 14:37 - Solo, echo of the second subject's theme, one of my favorite parts of the movement 15:50 - Broken octaves, building up suspense and tension 15:59 - Playing stopped notes while doing a long trill, requires mastery of left-right hand coordination 16:16 - Orchestral tutti (2), Eddy again stops playing and headbangs 17:51 - Solo, foreshadowing of the development's theme with a mini-cadenza 18:28 - Exposition: Codetta(?), a perfect cadence that leads to the development 18:29 - Development: cadenza (too bad Brett didn't play with the 3M balloons this time, like how Eddy did in the 2M concert) 20:50 - Orchestra joins in 20:59 - Recapitulation: First Subject 22:40 - Orchestral tutti, Eddy stops playing (supposedly) 22:44 - Recapitulation: Transition 22:46 - Eddy plays the bass part on the tutti (what a sweet thing to do lmao) 23:49 - Recapitulation: Second Subject 23:53 - Solo, leads to the main theme of the second subject 25:11 - Long trills, but this time the orchestra plays the stopped notes pizzicato 25:17 - Brett hums the accompaniment for a bit while turning pages 25:22 - Recapitulation: Closing section, darkly triumphant, gypsy-like and almost coda-like 25:45 - Soloist accompanies with broken sautille chords while the orchestra takes the lead 26:12 - Recapitulation: Coda, extravagant and fancy 26:43 - End of first movement with a bang __ Interlude __ 26:57 - everyone's left lung fails, while the right lung suffers from bronchitis, but we clap nonetheless 27:16 - Brett: "*misreads 500 yen* 50 tHoUsAnD??? This was impressive, you can tell that Eddy practiced his ass off. The cadenza was beautifully played, the second movement was emotional and the third movement was exciting. Sure, there were mistakes, intonation issues here and there but way less than I expected considering how tough this piece is. The fact that 50000 people tuned in to watch the performance of a classical piece just shows you how much they have achieved and how many people they've brought to classical music.
Intonation issues are much less frequent than their 2M Tchaikovsky drop. They’ve put a lot more effort and practice into the concerto this time. Brett’s playing and composition were also very impressive.
Well, I'm here from the future and for 4M subs Brett nailed Mendelssohn with the Singapore Symphony Orch. The sound and video production was amazing, on par with the best. The whole production was incredible. Oh, I forgot to add, you are both playing Stradivarius from 1708.
Matthew, I just watched the 4M : wonderful.⭐💕🎻☺️ Now to be able to go back and see the 3M... What skill ! What total involvement ! Those pop--only fans who think classical music is " boring " : I wish they could just for a minute realize how much passion, excitement, achievement, and bliss is found in sharing this " Other World" that Eddy and Brett offer us. I never thought when seeing their earliest videos that they would develope so much, stay focussed , work so well together.... I will never forget Brett's early " deadpan" expression : so funny ! That's what started me looking out for them!🎻☺️. Look how much they have done for the World Of Music.☺️🎼⭐ So many young people discovering the intense joy of sharing music🎻 🎼💕☺️🎻🎼🦉🎶 They involve and include us in the journey! 🎻🎼 such a compliment to, and the best use of, the Modern Technology. See how folk from all over the world join in ! ☺️🌏🌎 I also see that on the Geology videos by Prof' Nick Zentner ( Central Washington University): he reads out the locations folks watching live streams: it makes us feel "connected" and is very nice ☺️. He too has the same natural, amiable style, and thousand of folk, including self, write to say they are now fascinated by Geology! 🌋☺️🌋⛏️☺️🦉 The Pandemic held us all back, and did a lot of damage via loss, isolation , anxiety, financial difficulty, depression, etc... But Eddy and Brett kept going ! the appreciation has spread so much across the world! ..☺️ ☺️🦉🎼🎻🎼💕⭐☺️ They have made a remarkable advantage for all who have heard them , plus we have enjoyed their sense of fun : they don't put on " airs and graces" : they are so natural and " down to earth ". You know when you click on their videos that you will feel better and be inspired.🎼☺️💕🎻 Love from England 🎻 Nov. 2022.🎻💕🇬🇧🎼 ☺️🇬🇧💕🎻⭐🦉🎼🎶🎻
Eddy's Sibelius is associated with cold, while Brett's Tchaikovsky is associated with warmth, together they represent the yin and yang! Edit: or the Chen and Yang

Dude... I just have no words Eddy as a soloist just killed it. He was completely possessed by the music and he had an amazing sound. Brett sounded like a whole string section in an orchestra. You can definitely tell that they practiced their ass off for this and they made it EPIC. I want to say thank you to Brett and Eddy and to every single one behind TwoSetViolin for making this possible. We just started an epic and INTERESTING journey and I hope this journey will never end.
I never doubted that Brett and Eddie were violin virtuosos. In this video, Eddy played one of the most difficult violin concertos as if for fun. The orchestral transcription for a violin performed by an Brett was also very difficult. They were both superb
My favorite part was how nervous Brett and Eddy were at the beginning-- and then seeing them completely immersed in the music. This was really awesome!
Their passion is unmatched. For the live stream, I had them on full screen without the chat and just watched them go to work. I was completely awestruck and mesmerized. Eddy did amazing as a soloist and I was very happy to see Brett healthy and performing at 100%. The intense parts of this concerto had me sweating, had my heart rate increasing, and I was smiling the entire time. Very proud to be a TwoSet fan. Thank you Brett and Eddy for expanding my love of music!! Edit: can’t wait for 4 mil!!
one thing I appreciate about Eddy's interpretation is he doesn't try to rush; he's connecting with the emotions of the music and conveys it pretty effectively. and that orchestra part is not easy.. kudos to Brett for really knowing the piece to be able to support Eddy in the way that he did, job well done.
Too bad you couldn’t hear the applause of 48,000 people. You deserve to hear that. I looked it up just now: that is three times the size of the arena near me where I have seen major pop stars perform.
It's about the seating capacity of Sydney Cricket Ground. Or roughly half of a big football ground like Wembley (90k) or nearly 90% of an older one like Anfield (53k)
@@squirrel4752 complimented, I believe. He’s saying that when most of what they do is just joke around you don’t take them very seriously. Then when they play something like this, you’re reminded that they’re both incredibly talented
You can tell the Eddy listens to Vengerov's recording a lot, especially at the artificial harmonics in the 3rd movement(42:06). Vengerov is the only person I've seen who does those with semi-spiccato (idk how else to call it).
As an old fiddler, I can say I can die a happy man knowing this great music is being carried on by some of the most amazing young musicians I have ever seen (and heard). This is amazing! Carry on!
Coming back to this after the Mendelssohn is a trip. Twoset are a constant reminder that you dont have to be Ling Ling to have something of value to contribute to the world. They really are out there living their best lives and I'm so grateful we get to share their journey.
I think they derive confidence from each other, being friends for so many years. ‘As iron sharpens iron, So one person sharpens another’. Forming Twoset was probably the best decision in their lives, and putting it on RUclips did much to the promotion of the violin and classical music, something much needed in this modern era. Heartiest congratulations to you Brett and Eddy! God willing , see you at 4 million soon!
I can say that's so true, at least for me. I have this person in my life, that knows me since i was 8. She is one year younger, but we found each other and we still are togheter. We're best friends, and we helped each other during the years. We "sharpened" each other, she gained confidence in herself from me, and i learned confidence in others, i learned how to trust again. And seeing Brett and Eddy just makes me think about my best friend, and i'm so happy they found each other, cause they grew up so much togheter, and surely helped each other a lot. They, like me and my friend, are like the family we chose.
That was fucking phenomenal guys. Anyone wanting to understand the point of music and in particular live music, look at Eddy's face the whole way through. He was living EVERY note, loved the little cheers as he got through particular passages, his fanboying of Brett the whole way through and just the obvious adrenaline high he was having. Amazing. Brett as well. Mammoth effort playing the orchestra pieces alongside that, especially having been effectively bedridden a month ago. I don't know the piece (not a huge classical music buff) but you guys had me dancing around my kitchen listening to this. Incredible. If do eventually tour and make it to the UK I'm there
They should both be so proud of themselves, especially doing this so soon after taking their break for Brett’s health. It’s amazing how even after that time they still managed to prepare this amazing performance Together Brett and Eddy are one Ling each, creating the true Ling Ling when they perform together
@@Thetrilingualreader but professional musicians don’t handle two companies, record videos on daily basis, handling apparel photoshoot and design, and other additional stuff that we may not know off on top of practice and performing. Just to put that into perspective.
relistened to the normal orchestral version after this and was startled when the clarinet came in ...i genuinely forgot that the accompaniment involved other instruments and wasn't just brett LOL 😂😂 eddy and brett you guys were absolutely phenomenal!! goosebumps.
#18 on trending. Classical gang. If you had told me even 6 months ago that an hour long video of two guys in their apartment playing a 30+ minute violin concerto would be the 18th most popular video on youtube I would have said you were full of shit. But here we are.
The pure emotion on Eddy’s face when he plays is just so beautiful to watch Brett’s face is just so watchful, methodical and calm, like a beautiful still sea Also are you guys seeing their arms? I can’t help but finding them interesting to watch especially when the change strings and the looks so sharp and their fingerssssss Iehdjdjjddhjs they’re flippin amazing and this concerto is so beautiful, I love every note. I keep rewatching the 2 mil watch me rewatch this one 3 million times Also shoutout to RUclips for putting all the ads in between movements, before they started and after they ended for me
The Stream delay must be massive. Eddy: is the mic problem fixed? Chat: its fixed Eddy: the chat is still saying its not fixed. Chat: Its fixed. Eddy: well time to restart the stream Chat: Are you kidding me-
Watching this way too late, but oh my God, Eddy is on FIRE. Any slip in intonation is immediately incinerated by the sheer burning passion of a man possessed by music. And the expression of giddy relief on his face when it's all over actually made me choke up. You can tell this was a major breakthrough for him

Beautiful. Yes there are imperfections. But here we are, in the middle of a pandemic, passionate about classical music, sharing this beautiful experience. I love Hilary Hahn's and Ray Chen's Sibelius, but somehow I love this more. Thank you guys.
Same. So excited and was proud. So happy I could join this time. I didn't know them until last March 2020 when I had to work at home. Got redirected to TSV when looking for classical music. Binge watched after that. Watching Two Set Violin was the only good thing that happen to me in 2020.
I dare say you guys have arguably done more for the violin and classical music than anyone in modern times. I think your channel and performances, will have immense positive impact. I think you will inspire a huge new crop of young people to take up the violin and other classical instruments. You also inspire current musicians to practice (40hrs/day) to reach new heights. You have and will introduce famous and more obscure pieces as well as prodigies and artists to new audiences. You guys rock!!!
I started playing at 6 and always loved piano but never really considered it a job I could do and now 6 years later twoset has inspired me and I’m trying to better myself and possibly become a classical pianist
10:48 to 17:50 I. Allegro Moderato 17:51 to 26:45 Cadenza (Allegro Moderato) 20:51 to 26:45 Second Violin Play (D Minor) 28:25 to 35:50 II. adagio di molto 'No Cadenza' (Bb Major) 36:57 to 44:28 III. Allegro ma non tanto (D major) 'No cadenza' Enjoy :)
My 2 year old toddler was watching and bouncing/clapping along with the 3rd movement. Thank you for spreading classical music joy to the next generation!
I love just how emotional and invested Eddy is in his playing; you can see how much he cares for what he's doing. Brett was also super happy and focused in his Tchaikovsky. The love for music in their eyes is so contagious! I didn't really care that much about classical music, but seeing how passionate they are about it made me realize how amazing it can be. Thank you for the aMAzInG concerto, Brett and Eddy!
25:17 - This was the funniest part of the performance by far lol when the orchestra has to hum the tune during a page turn and makes the soloist laugh hahaha
Honestly I’ve been experiencing a period of really bad depression for a while now, but yesterday night (I live in U.S and it was yesterday night) was the first time I’ve been happy in a long time. Thank you so much Twoset, I hope both of you realize how much you mean to me and to everyone else that’s part of this community. You guys are awesome! That performance was one of the most amazing performances of Sibelius I’ve ever heard, I got chills so many times.
I’ve also have depression but I just want to let you know keep your head up please and you got this and I hope your very blessed with many things to come so keep fighting okay 💕
@@addisonfaith4749 thank you! I don’t personally think that there’s a reason I should “keep fighting” but nevertheless I really appreciate your kind words. I hope things get better for you! :)
@@Scriabinfan593 That you don't think there is a reason to 'keep fighting' is a main symptom of a depression but you probably knew that. I really hope you get better!
Passion, unmatched. Love of music, unmatched. Brotherly love, unmatched. You may not be the super prodigy children you review, but you two are so special it's hard to describe. This concert made me cry a lot. It was very beautiful. Thank you so much for playing and working so hard for us.
I’m speechless I’ve never seen so much passion, effort and intensity in an interpretation. Thank you for playing my favorite violin concerto. I really liked the tempo and how eddy wanted to give his best and his honest interpretation for this special piece despite its technical difficulty. I can also see a vengerov inspiration in this performance. That was seriously amazing ! The new violins were sounding good too!
There were so many amazing elements: 48K viewers, incredible dedication to preparation, sincere and passionate live performance but my personal favorite was LISTENING TO EDDY & BRETT'S INTERPRETATION OF SIBELIUS!!!
Finland gang here, watching after stream. But watching next to Sibelius' house Ainola, where he is also burried! Volume up, so maybe he can hear! :D Sibeliuuuuus
Non musician here. I really appreciate the 3rd movement. It was soooooo EPIC. After streaming the live i just keep listening to Hilary’s record of the 3rd movement in apple music. I keep coming here and watch them slayyyy the 3rd movement again and again and again and keep getting mesmerised by Eddy’s powerful vibe and Brett’s whole orchestra support. Brett & Eddy, I sincerely thank you 💕
i suck at being sentimental and all that, but id like to say you two are the reason ive stayed interested in violin. i may never practice anymore, but i know i one day will. i stuggle a lot with my mental health, i have since i was 12, and its one of the biggest reasons i gave up on violin. and for awhile i only played because i felt like it was a waste that i had a violin and did nothing with it. im working a lot on myself these days, and even though i dont practice, your videos teach me a lot of things i never knew about violin and just music in general. and even just the fun videos youd do, id learn from those too. i know im just another person, and that i dont hold much significance since there are about 300k views as im typing this comment, but you guys are really important to me, so are your videos and all of the effort you put into them. and because of you guys i know that i one day will play violin again. thank you so much for that, Brett and Eddy. and the performance was absolutely beautiful.
this could have been written by me. i gave up the violin when i was 15 due to mental illness and other personal reasons but these two guys have been keeping me interested in classical music and at one point they even motivated me to take lessons again (before i quit once again lol). my parents used to force me to play the violin and practice all the time which made me hate the violin and everything about classical music in general but brett & eddy changed my view. i can finally appreciate the beauty of classical music. my violin has been lying in the closet collecting dust for over a year now but i hope i'll be able to pick it up again someday. i wish you everything well on your mental health recovery journey. take care ♡ (and sorry for my english)
from this to the 4m concert, guys....i feel a wide range of emotions going from awe to pride. Brett and Eddy, NEVER STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING. You are doing amazing work.

Anyway, Eddy did very well. I think he did Sibelius better than Brett did Tchaikovsky. They look much prepared here. And Brett played the orchestra parts very well. To play the orchestra parts like that, one has to understand each instrument’s nuance. Very impressive!
Eddy’s part is so hard but can we appreciate that Brett was the whole orchestra 😂
I was hearing every instrument in Brett's violin playing.... the flutes, the percussion, the strings....
Good orchestra by Brett...
@Elijah Kim Yes Brett _was_ playing melody, but it led _my_ head to hear the entire orchestra!

Things I noticed after watching for the 2nd time looking at the video instead of just audio:
Eddy checking his pulse just before 1 min.
All the non-musicians who watched a 40 minute performance and realized they actually ENJOYED it lol
TwoSet is the first group I've seen to bridge this gap in such a massive way-- and I hope they're not the last!
YEAAAAAA I said it once and I’ll say it again- Twoset is amazing! :D

I am audience gang because of Twoset. They popped up in my recommended videos. It was the Ben Lee video and I fell in love!
I'm one of those people who hadn't had any classical music exposure say not even an instrument.I'm obsessed with classical music and seen this very live about thrice.. Owe to tsv for making my days better!
620403 of those views were from me watching the end of the first movement on repeat
As a classical musician, I have listened to many, many versions of this concerto. By no means is this the most technically flawless one, but the sheer amount of expression and emotion and just the risk taking puts this, for me, alongside the best recordings of Sibelius out there.

10:47 - Exposition: Introduction (a soft, dissonant accompaniment from the orchestra)
10:56 - Exposition: First Subject, introduces the famous main theme of the first movement, the G-A-D motif
13:44 - Orchestral tutti, Eddy stops playing
13:48 - Exposition: Transition
14:20 - Exposition: Second Subject
14:37 - Solo, echo of the second subject's theme, one of my favorite parts of the movement
15:50 - Broken octaves, building up suspense and tension
15:59 - Playing stopped notes while doing a long trill, requires mastery of left-right hand coordination
16:16 - Orchestral tutti (2), Eddy again stops playing and headbangs
17:51 - Solo, foreshadowing of the development's theme with a mini-cadenza
18:28 - Exposition: Codetta(?), a perfect cadence that leads to the development
18:29 - Development: cadenza (too bad Brett didn't play with the 3M balloons this time, like how Eddy did in the 2M concert)
20:50 - Orchestra joins in
20:59 - Recapitulation: First Subject
22:40 - Orchestral tutti, Eddy stops playing (supposedly)
22:44 - Recapitulation: Transition
22:46 - Eddy plays the bass part on the tutti (what a sweet thing to do lmao)
23:49 - Recapitulation: Second Subject
23:53 - Solo, leads to the main theme of the second subject
25:11 - Long trills, but this time the orchestra plays the stopped notes pizzicato
25:17 - Brett hums the accompaniment for a bit while turning pages
25:22 - Recapitulation: Closing section, darkly triumphant, gypsy-like and almost coda-like
25:45 - Soloist accompanies with broken sautille chords while the orchestra takes the lead
26:12 - Recapitulation: Coda, extravagant and fancy
26:43 - End of first movement with a bang
__ Interlude __
26:57 - everyone's left lung fails, while the right lung suffers from bronchitis, but we clap nonetheless
27:16 - Brett: "*misreads 500 yen* 50 tHoUsAnD??? w0t"
28:06 - Eddy and Brett wipes off sweat
__ 2nd movement __
28:25 - 2nd movement, Adagio di molto (my favorite movement of the whole piece, highly recommend this)
28:25 - Introduction of the main theme
28:56 - Solo, introduction of the main subject
30:32 - Eddy runs out of bow, proceeds to rebow the note (relatable lmao)
31:16 - Orchestral tutti, a raging sea addled with a heavy storm, an echo of the main theme in the introduction
31:50 - Solo, a virtuoso showoff of double stops, triple stops, and chords
32:47 - Echo of the main subject can be heard in the orchestra
33:33 - Broken octaves, leading to the final emotional climax
34:00 - Double stops, with the orchestra still echoing the main subject (my favorite part of the whole concerto)
34:17 - The soloist finally joins in, echoing the main subject before leading to an emotional zenith (cried a bit here)
35:31 - A serene conclusion of the second movement, ending with a high D harmonic
35:51 - End of second movement
__ Interlude __
35:53 - both of them sighing to cope with the emotions (and also to prepare for the 3rd movement)
36:15 - Brett : "here we go guys, it's the funnest movement of them all", Eddy cries in pain
36:43 - Eddy: "ill try my best (famous last words)" *laughs to cope with the insanity that's about to come*
__ 3rd movement __
36:58 - 3rd movement, Allegro ma non tanto (the movement where eddy cries and brett cheers)
37:05 - solo, introduction of the main subject
38:15 - orchestral tutti, eddy headbangs to classical music (no, romantic music)
38:22 - introduction of the second theme
38:49 - solo, a virtuosic variation of the second theme
39:02 - an evident echo of the second theme, presented as a harmonic variation of double stops and chords
40:17 - virtuosic bridge to the recapitulation, consists of octave runs
40:24 - wholesome page-turning by Eddy
40:25 - orchestral tutti, a brazen buildup
40:29 - Recapitulation of the main subject
40:39 - Solo, a repetition of the main theme this time
41:43 - another orchestral tutti, introduces the second theme once again
41:54 - solo, a showcase of a virtuoso's skills, high jumps, harmonic runs (woa he really nailed those harmonics)
43:02 - broken octaves, building suspense and tension
43:25 - runs of sixths and tenths, holy moly, a true test of a violinist's intonation
43:37 - bridge to the coda, filled with octave runs and broken octaves
44:04 - the coda, a final orchestral tutti
44:16 - final solo, filled with scales of (ascending) D major, and (descending) G minor
44:23 - echoing a variation of the main theme for one final time, with the orchestra playing a perfect cadence of D-A-D (haha)
44:27 - end of the whole piece
__ After-Concert __
44:32 - applause after the concert
45:11 - story time on how sibelius once dreams to be a violinist
46:08 - "alright I gotta practice now" (ah i forgot to practice and it's 11:30pm here oh nOOO)
46:18 - TwoSet learns from past mistakes of making promises nonchalantly lmao
46:24 - sibelius merch plug v2 (too cold in finland)
47:33 - Brett: "nOOOO i screwed up *cries like a toddler*"
47:40 - Brett: "nOOOO *gets consumed by curtain*"
48:49 - damn we really need to do a checkup on our lungs lmao
49:15 - "encore" comments popping up
50:12 - "10 mil paganini- nOOOO"
52:07 - Eddy spelling out their doom for the milestone concerts
52:14 - sibelius merch plug v3 (third time's the charm)
52:45 - 15 thanks/second, very talented thanking
53:13 - someone said "ysaye 3" and Eddy laughs nervously
53:46 - Eddy: "this is the earliest i've woken up in like, 6 months" (eddy what were you doing)
54:03 - plans on getting bubble tea after this stream ends (very typical lmao)
54:28 - stream ends
play f for balloon-chan guys

YESSSSS BOOST
This was impressive, you can tell that Eddy practiced his ass off. The cadenza was beautifully played, the second movement was emotional and the third movement was exciting. Sure, there were mistakes, intonation issues here and there but way less than I expected considering how tough this piece is. The fact that 50000 people tuned in to watch the performance of a classical piece just shows you how much they have achieved and how many people they've brought to classical music.
ruclips.net/video/2lhI2HegcPY/видео.html😰
LOUDER PLEASE
Intonation issues are much less frequent than their 2M Tchaikovsky drop. They’ve put a lot more effort and practice into the concerto this time. Brett’s playing and composition were also very impressive.
As always, so much fun!
When is the cadenza? I don't know how to recognise it and I want to listen to it again 😅

Thank you so much Twoset, I hope both of you realize how much you mean to me and to everyone else that’s part of this community. You guys are awesome! That performance was one of the most amazing performances of Sibelius I’ve ever heard, I got chills so many times.
Aww, thats very good to hear that this made you happy! It made me happy as well! Brett and Eddy are so damn talented
@@Awesome-oh7op I agree they are very talented
@@Scriabinfan593 That you don't think there is a reason to 'keep fighting' is a main symptom of a depression but you probably knew that. I really hope you get better!
Perhaps it wasn't perfect from a technical standpoint, but the emotion was *there* . To me, that's what makes a performance beautiful.
It was magical! ❤ ❤

There were so many amazing elements: 48K viewers, incredible dedication to preparation, sincere and passionate live performance but my personal favorite was
LISTENING TO EDDY & BRETT'S INTERPRETATION OF SIBELIUS!!!
Same I saw some vengerov inspiration!!

Finland gang here, watching after stream. But watching next to Sibelius' house Ainola, where he is also burried! Volume up, so maybe he can hear! :D Sibeliuuuuus
How beautiful !
I bet he will be very appreciated🙂
You live next to Sibelius’ house? That’s so cool. Sibelius is one of my top 5 fav composers.
wow that’s so cool! I hope Sibelius smiles from above :)
I find this to be such a cute comment for some reason
Non musician here. I really appreciate the 3rd movement. It was soooooo EPIC. After streaming the live i just keep listening to Hilary’s record of the 3rd movement in apple music. I keep coming here and watch them slayyyy the 3rd movement again and again and again and keep getting mesmerised by Eddy’s powerful vibe and Brett’s whole orchestra support. Brett & Eddy, I sincerely thank you 💕
Eddy playing with so much passion! Brett giving such superb support as the orchestra! YOU BOTH REALLY DID IT TOGETHER!!! BRAVO!!!!!!!
i suck at being sentimental and all that, but id like to say you two are the reason ive stayed interested in violin. i may never practice anymore, but i know i one day will. i stuggle a lot with my mental health, i have since i was 12, and its one of the biggest reasons i gave up on violin. and for awhile i only played because i felt like it was a waste that i had a violin and did nothing with it. im working a lot on myself these days, and even though i dont practice, your videos teach me a lot of things i never knew about violin and just music in general. and even just the fun videos youd do, id learn from those too. i know im just another person, and that i dont hold much significance since there are about 300k views as im typing this comment, but you guys are really important to me, so are your videos and all of the effort you put into them. and because of you guys i know that i one day will play violin again. thank you so much for that, Brett and Eddy. and the performance was absolutely beautiful.
Thank you for sharing :)
Wow! I'm happy that Brett and Eddy have helped you understand more about music and I hope you return to the violin one day! Have a lovely day :)
You can do it ^.^ hope you find joy when you do pick it back up. Also me but flute.
this could have been written by me. i gave up the violin when i was 15 due to mental illness and other personal reasons but these two guys have been keeping me interested in classical music and at one point they even motivated me to take lessons again (before i quit once again lol). my parents used to force me to play the violin and practice all the time which made me hate the violin and everything about classical music in general but brett & eddy changed my view. i can finally appreciate the beauty of classical music. my violin has been lying in the closet collecting dust for over a year now but i hope i'll be able to pick it up again someday.
i wish you everything well on your mental health recovery journey. take care ♡ (and sorry for my english)
You got this! Thank you for opening about your situation🥰
Nobody gonna talk about Eddy and Brett expression when they play?
So precious
I WAS GONNA COMMENT THIS
They got the "face" 😂! Just wonderful
from this to the 4m concert, guys....i feel a wide range of emotions going from awe to pride. Brett and Eddy, NEVER STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING. You are doing amazing work.
The beginning of this video is 100% why I love these guys. Just they're magical and humble and so talented and hardworking. :)
Btw, that's my favorite piece and you did it justice with your excellent cardio. Loved it!
Mendelssohn and 4 million sounds pretty good together if you ask me...
Better if It's with Ysaye 3:)
Mendelssohn, please!! Brett's always playing snippets and I need the whole thing!
Or the Bach double concerto with Sophie on the piano.
Yes!! One of my personal favs
I agree
Eddy’s hair is the new Ray Chen eyebrows
Eddy's hair really can't chill
