- I visited the town of Arklow in County Wicklow, south of Dublin to see what inspired Van Morrison to write the haunting "Streets of Arklow" from his Veedon Fleece album. Over 40 years later it is easy to imagine the houses and buildings and port is much the same but the numbers of cars carrying tourists and commuters is much greater and can spoil the ambience still lurking underneath.
The Streets of Arklow, I know them very well, I was first brought to the streets by Van Morrison in the mid-1970s when I first got to hear this song sung by the Man, I wandered those streets in my dreams every time I listen to this song, the stunning beauty of Arklow could only be truly explained in the words of Van's song
That's a very good video. I'm oringally from Arklow, it was great to see the town again. It is south of Wicklow though 😂
It is a stunner of a song, a stunningly beautiful place those Streets of Arklow
My spiritual home, XXXXX
It is mine to, Someday I will go and wander down the Streets Of Arklow, We might meet there as we fulfill our dreams,
Its not south west Dublin it’s south Wicklow
but still Ireland
I live in arklow
You are born lucky, I will visit one day, it is a promise I make to myself every time I hear Van sing his song Streets of Arklow,
