I lived not far from Avoca back in the 70s and in later years watched the filming of Ballykissangel . It was very special and the whole of Wicklow and in fact all of Ireland is a place of happy memories.
Dear Peter! You have actually shown a small town with picturesque beauty. We couldn't enjoy the hustle and bustle of Dublin here, but we could enjoy the peace and quiet. Unfortunately, I did not see the red kites, but I heard their voice. Although I also like hearing the voice of seagulls very much. It can be a very friendly place. Unfortunately, due to the capricious weather, you also needed an umbrella, but we got used to this during your walks. Thank you so much for the experience as always.
Dear Susan. We had a real change of pace in todays walk. The little town was so quiet compared to Dublin and we were able to hear the birds sing. In a few months it will be very busy when the tourists return. The weather was very confused that day. In typical Irish fashion it changed every 5 minutes. It was hard to see the red kites on video but I was happy to see them as there are none in Dublin. Thanks so much for watching and have a nice evening. Peter.
👋Hi Peter, This is just beautiful from start to finish & I must surely visit Avoca when I return to Ireland. I was a huge Ballykissangel fan & in fact, I used to record most of the weekly series when I went to work, then upon returning home, I'd watch it via VCR. On my days off, I'd just watch it direct, but Ballykissangel was a real favourite, along with "Glenroe" & I simply couldn't get enough of either, specifically, Ballykissangel. I used to regularly fantasise about Ireland & in a very good way! lol Growing up, whenever I thought of Ireland, this is exactly what I envisioned. I often pictured walking down the streets of a quaint wee Irish village, such as Avoca or parts of Co Clare, & Limerick, etc;. This walk has been so wonderful to view & enjoy & I must say, what absolute beauty abound in every possible way! I really love the quaint & charming houses, the pretty streetscapes, the verdant landscape, the gorgeous trees in full Spring blossom, the beautiful church. It's all so appealing & so lovely. Although the weather was against you on the day, I always say, that the cloudy & wet weather in Ireland, is an integral part, of the overall beauty of the Irish landscape, for without it, Ireland simply wouldn't be what it is. So with this said, we must accept & even appreciate, the varied & unpredictable Irish weather. Finally, I did watch half of your "Live" walk last night & after having just watched this edited version, I have to say, that the magic of editing is truly amazing. It appears to have been well cleaned/polished so to speak & the clarity of image thereafter is just remarkable. Thank you for filming & sharing.
Hi and thanks so much for watching. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the walk through Ballykissangel. The weather was a bit challenging but the town was beautiful nonetheless. Yes the livesstreams are fun to do but the edited videos really show off the beauty of places like this. Have a wonderful day. Peter.
Just catching up on “our” walks and thrilled to see you had time for a pint at Fitzgerald’s. The spectral image anchoring the end of the bar was the perfect stand-in for Padraig, Siobhan, Brendan, et al. It couldn’t have been more ideal. Any plans for a stroll through Glasnevin or the Botanic Gardens?
Great, Peter. I was born at the Mater and grew up in Phibsborough, until we moved to the States in 1958 when I was ten. Just a younger sister and me here, after an older sister moved back and lives in Dalkey. Best wishes.
Ireland is a Beautiful country and i like the Irish People, never meet any irish but i read a lot about their history and struggle against the British , i had to think for a moment and my conclusion is from all the different People of Europe , i like the irish the most and have positive feelings about them .
