I don't know if my comment will help you remain humble, but I've watching a LOT of yours videos to get inspiration to paint my gunplas. And honestly they really helped ! I might try the led features one day when I feel ready. Thumbs up from France !!
Nice rendition. Was doubletaking on the gold before the red, but the end finish makes the red pop. Love it! Seen this kit twice now and I now want one for myself...dammit that lists getting bigger....Modelmaking mayhem...oh boy...
Very much one of my favorite Optimus Prime designs of all time... utterly shafted by build quality. I'm glad you pointed out the issues with plastic quality, because even with some degree of experience with building Gunpla the Flame Toy models turn out to be just too brittle for me to handle properly, and now I have to deal with weak joints from split polycaps. I really do love this model, but I cannot stress enough how disappointing it is to pay the high asking price for a kit of this quality standard.
It's also funny how Jobby gave you a shout-out and you follow up with a video about a Flame Toy kit since awhile back when he was asked about them I was the voice that chimed in to him about the build quality issues.

If you sand down the articulation joints just a tiny bit, it helps the pieces to move well

I love me some Optimus Prime, so I might just pick this one up. Also, you did an awesome job on that paint. I'm really impressed.

If you are going to try a rg the sazabi is an amazing kit. Its also larger for a rg. It is bigger than some mg kits. Love the videos dude! Keep up the amazing work!
I’ve built a lot of RG kits. Definitely give it a try. The newer RGs are incredible. I would go with maybe the Sazabi, or the Nu. Avoid the ones with the prebuilt inner frame parts those are really flimsy.
As I'm told the Gundam MK2 and Tallgeuse are good too, though I've only built RG Nu, RG Sazabi, and RG RX-78-2 (Grandad Gundam) myself
@@UNSCPILOT The Tallgeese is a great kit and it looks amazing when custom painted. However it's a standard sized RG which may make it really difficult to put LEDs in. The NU and Sazabi are a bit bigger than other RG kits, they are really close to the being the size of a standard MG kit.

Awesome video as always man!!! Loved the build! I got a flashback when you said beast wars. Optimus prime as a gorilla and Megatron as a T-Rex was awesome! I would highly recommend the RG line of Gundams by the way! They're like mini master grades and a good change of pace! People tend to recommend any RG from the unicorn and onwards because that's when they started to get away from the pre built inner frames which made the model super loose on all joints. If you want something with a bit bigger pieces maybe try out the RG Sazabi? It's the size of a regular master grade when built. Stay safe man and I look forward to your next video!

Uhmmm you absolutely killed it with this IDW Optimus. I really want to see you do a video on the G1 kit they just released. As for Real Grades do you think you might be expanding to the Evangelion Real Grades Bandai is currently releasing?
Y'know one things always nagged at me when you use those LEDs Otaku, what's the rigidity of the wires when using Evans? Can they get damaged through standard posing of a model or would they hold up?

Nice work. I see you use mr surfacer 1500 a lot. Do you find it works well. I tried it on inner frame and it was great. I’m just struggling whether to use 1500 grey or 1000.
Amazing work as always! By the way just want to ask: how do you make sure that the paint on the joints dont scratch or peel off when playing around with poses? I'm a noob model kit painter and I can't seem to manage that problem 😞
Sand down the joints before you painted will help.

Evans has a buy 10 lED set for 1.90 each. pretty good sale I just saw. i ordered a barbatos to try my hand at this!
So I gotta ask, do you clear coat all the parts before assembly? Or after, or both?

@otaku builder, you said it doesn't need glue, but the instructions say in several places that those parts "are advised to glue together".
did they feel at all loose?
On some parts like any other kits sometimes they need some glue, even on Gunpla. I was just building the MG Gouf Custom and the thighs/ hips started to pop apart when I was moving that joint. So it definitely needed glue to hold it together. It just varies from kit to kit.
Sir I have a question, is it possible to repaint the clear color parts, like change it for example red to blue?. As I have the nemesis prime version of this kit and would like to change it.

Enjoyed a lot, but there is so much wrong with this kit as it only resembles Optimus Prime to a certain point. Wheels in the wrong place, stuff missing etc.

Sorry it does not transform. I wish that it did. None of the Flame Toys Transformers model kits transform. I hope that one day that they will.
Pretty sure this kit isnt a bandai kit. Isnt it a china brand instead?
Flame Toys is a Japanese company with an official Transformers license. Their model kits are under the Furai Model line. Their main claim to fame is their Kuro Kara Kuri line: high end articulated, non-transformable action figures of Transformers. Not cheap, and often sold out as soon as pre-orders go up.

Flame Toys is in Hong Kong. Bandai doesn’t make Flame Toys Transformers products. They distribute them to specialty stores thru Bluefin. It’d be like if you bought 1000 kits from me and you pull up a list of hobby stores then sell the kits to those stores. That’s all Bandai does.
Oh yeah they are based in HK. I forgot they sent a c&d letter to a company in China that blatantly advertised a KO of their Tarn figure.
