  • Join me for a walk around the historic river-meadow at Runnymede, where the world-famous Magna Carta was sealed more than 800 years ago in 1215! See the place where King John and the barons congregated, and discover what there is to do at Runnymede, how to visit Runnymede and more!
On our walk, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including the Magna Carta Memorial (American Bar Association), The Jurors, One American Acre, the John F. Kennedy Memorial, The Last Survivors, Magna Carta Tea Rooms, Runnymede Boathouse, and the River Thames.

I'm proud to live in Salisbury just half a mile from where one of the 4 remaining Magna carta was originally placed on June 15 1215 at the cathedral

Spetacular idea showing runnymede ! On the other hand, it is said that at the Carta did not last .. certainly Henry the VIII never cared the least about it.

You are so right. What they never bother to mention is 1) how LITTLE Magna Carta TRULY contributed to actual democracy, compared, let us say, to the Declaration of Independence and 2) how QUICKLY it was DISCARDED. Basically it is a fraud of a freedom declaration for it mostly was a mere device for greedy barons to “cut their own share” between them and the King. The The King pulled a Russian dictator act and promptly and TOTALLY ignored it! Clearly this whole bit is another historical effort to continue to “mobilize” and recast Britain as the “leader of freedom” they rarely played as well as they always claim.

I know I am out voted on this point, but let me tell you WHY I preferred the videos WITHOUT the narrations. I outdone read the captions below and enjoy the vids, reading the commentary without background noise from normal things like cooking and familial goings on and not be disturbed, act perturbed or shush folks. I also liked that I could enjoy the narratives and NOT make noise when others needed quiet. I wish there was a way to make the vids so that sound or written commentary could both be options.

This video sounds fascinating! It's amazing that such a small meadow has played such a big role in history 📜 I'm definitely adding Runnymede to my UK travel list. I love all the memorials and that it's easily accessible by boat from Windsor - what a scenic way to arrive! 🛥
